Parang 2019 lang no? hehe..Shouldve ibn and pinoy fns realize the biggest mistake yengs team had in 2019?

feels like that the only edge of the 2023 team over the 2019 Gilas would be the length of the training. Chot probably doesnt want to be embarrassed during the friendlies hence the weak/mediocre quality of opponents

Meanwhile China will have friendlies against Slovenia, Germany, NZL, Canada and Serbia

Heck lebanon made the game respectable against australia and defeated new zealand without world class friendlies..

Imo I still believe they need higher level comp to gauge the team.. one mistake 2019 had.. it only ahd adelaide as their tuneup equal strenth to that angola team they afced and guess what they only able to matched up with angola not with italy or serbia..

We really lack preparation lol, seeing that list of preparation games done by other teams. This team is scared to be embarrassed early in these preparatory games so they picked a tourney that is more easier (and doesn't feature any world cup participant, Iran and China can't even be bothered to send their A teams lol). We are really doomed as hosts

I think most of SBP's budget went to JC's insurance premium and Kai's TF, I guess the MVP pocket tournament is already out of the question. Hello Gilas vs. PBA select team

The TF doesn't cover prep games? No freebies?

Well .. would you guys rather have Ange or JB as NP but longer prep time against quality teams?

China’s basketball federation is without a doubt the most well run in FIBA Asia.

As much as I hate their cooking game, you gotta admire their grassroots programs and consistency.

well, cooking game might be our only chance to make the olympics, does SBP have the balls to pull it off.

With the way Gilas is preparing for the WC no way they’ll qualify to the olympics based on talent, skills, team chemistry.

Thank God for the FIFA Women's World Cup. At least the team got a feel-good win.

The way our men's basketball program is being run is so fucking hard to watch. Regardless of the result, I hope SBP management is gone, especially Chua, Panlilio, and Vargas.

Well, it helps so much that China is under communist rule. Hindi pwede mag inarte mga national team players nila. Players will be subjected to harsh disciplinary actions kung mag inarte sila.

Talking about the Chinese national team, I think every year during the off-season of its premier professional league, the CBA (during the months of June, July, Aug. & Sept.), the Chinese national team plays in pocket tournaments, friendly/exhibition/tune-up games either in China or abroad. They have been arranging friendly games vs. European, Latin American & African teams. And the Chinese are doing it even if there's no major FIBA tournament nearby. Meaning they are doing it consistently on a yearly basis.

The same could not be said about our Gilas team & we all know the reasons behind it.

im just gonna enjoy this WC, this might be the last time for a long long time that we qualify (might take another 40 yr drought if things wont change)

The sad thing is, we've known about us hosting this WC for several years. It seemed like we were finally doing some long-term preparations. Sadly, it was "ningas kugon."

If we didn't get our act together for this, it's looking bleak for when we're not actually hosting.

"We have a number of players getiing injured here & there"

"Kai Sotto & Jordan Clarkson, our 2 best players in the team, joined the team in the 11th hour"

Some built-in excuse for coach Chot in case Gilas sucks in the World Cup.

I can not believe that this guy is asking for a high TF, when he should be representing the flag on his own volition. I really have feeling that Kai and his family just want to get as much money as possible then dip out, them keep switching leagues and making terrible choices is shoddy as fck.
