But telling this is way bigger than 1954 Bronze medal finish of our grand fathers achievement in basketball is not true... Maybe FIFA is way way bigger than FIBA, But that is not the case in Philippine sports.... And BTW, This forum is for the FIBA WC right? Maybe create thread for only them here... This is out of topic here in this forum.... Better create a thread for Filipinas FIFA WWC mission...

Right, this should be moved to the appropriate threads.

Though, just to be clear, I don't have the same sentiments as those comparing the gravity of the Filipinas win against the 1954 FIBA WC bronze. IMO, both successes are still/will be looked up on for years to come until a more significant team sports achievement/milestone comes to supplant both.

Like the others here in IBN, I just long for another fruitful era at the world-level for our basketball. There's a lot to work on/fix obviously but at the very least, the organizers are not stopping in trying year after year.

People will push achievements of other sports to down other sports. Now that crab mentality. Why can't we be happy for all and leave the hate. If you don't like hypers, why say hate.

Yeah... You see in social media post that some "Football" fans mocking other sports especially basketball fans and keep yelling that We should more focus on football... It should be give some more support to football w/o throwing shades to other sports... Inggit lang eh!!!!

If we want football conversations, the football thread is here: https://www.interbasket.net/forums/forum/asia-middle-east-oceania/asia-ot/11078-philippine-football

I concur with Rodbi here also. The FIFA WWC win yesterday was a really big accomplishment, like our bronze in 54. On my end, I hope Gilas gives us a similarly fruitful experience for this WC, and I hope we get better management after the Asian Games.

for me, let other sports grow without leaving others behind.

if volleyball gained traction with the foundation of PVL, so be it.

if football becomes popular and we make another pro league for football, so be it.

but putting down other sports is a no no. let's support them all without dragging others down. at the end of the day, all of them has Pilipinas/Philippines in front of their uniforms.

I love both basketball and football and I agree there are some football fans that do this. It l definitely doesn’t help and it’s just being cringe and insecure.

In General I don’t want any sport I love to do down or not succeed. Basketball is culture ad heritage in this country so it needs to be bigger than anything and be at the top or at least share the popularity with another sport if it becomes big.

I do feel basketball and football should be the two main sports here and think it can happen. Serbia is both a basketball and football country as well as a country like Greece. I think it’s possible.

May I ask a question, if Euro is the way to be better then why Korea and Japan had no wins in WC. This is honest question.

For basketball and football? I don’t know what you mean. There are like no Asians in European basketball and it’s clear the second best players after the NBa are in a Europe.

It's hard to watch Euroleague here due to time difference, Pinoys are not keen to wake up in early morning to watch games unless it has Filipino related games there....

Isn’t that same with NBA. I can’t remember the Time difference but in America, euroleague games would be like 1-3 pm here.

Your right many Filipinos wouldn’t want to watch that late but I feel some night owls wouldn’t mind it.

By the way, Our softball team won against NZL and Italy too in Softball world cup... Look at this thing, In all SEA region, We are the best sports team... We are clearly no.1 in Basketball (We lose to womens basketball technically but in terms of all achievement last 7 years, We are still the best than Indonesia that needed 2 NPs just to beat All local Gilas women crew), No.1 in Baseball, no.1 in Rugby, no.1 in Womens football (Yes, we didn't won any medal but still doesn't matter, We have more achievements than them recently) , No. 1 in Softball... Only Mens football and volleyball teams are we left behind... While our SEA neighbors are too crazy in football alone, They forgot to win in other team sports discipline... We should be proud that we are the best team sports in SEA region....

NBA games usually at 7 am - 11 am here, Maybe some games are early if schedule in US are in day time (some are 3 - 5 am)... That's why very accessible to watch NBA games here due to friendly time schedule... Although i want to watch Euroleague games too... It just the schedule are not friendly to us due to time differences...

And nowadays with the live streaming in internet and social media, it's feels kind of insignificant to watch delayed/taped games. You know, it's just 1 box score browse away from learning the result. Maybe it's just me, but i really prefer to watch the next game/event of my favorite club/athlete on live tv/streaming.

yeah, guess what? i can even watch live games of puerto rican and dominican republic basketball leagues through youtube.

yes, but the point is things can be livestreamed now.

Yeah, i'm just wary about the conflict in my daily morning schedule, lol. Not too much live morning basketball for me, except if it's the weekends during an NBA season.

Basketball. Euro plays in Korea and Japan basketball hasn't given them any success.

Cause those euros probably suck lol. Euroleague has best Europeans and NBA rejects who are still better than most of the world.

I believe that Dwight, Parks and Malonzo are all shoo-ins for our final 12.

Dwight and Parks are getting substantial minutes from window 4 to 6 while Malonzo got his minutes in window 6.

I mean is people suggest we do euro plays rather than DDO. Japan and Korea NT has been using euro plays without much success in WC. Why is that?
