I think Dwight is forcing his body a bit when it comes to Gilas. I think he doesnt want to let us down but he has been injured in most of his Gilas stints. I think his weight and aggressive style in Gilas makes him prone to injury. He is actually a bit small for SF internationally. He makes up for it with his strength and aggression. Bit Im afraid this is not sustainable.

This is the reason why Tab played him as PG as well with Navarro or Balti as SF. But we know Chots style needs more advanced ball handlers in the SF spot. If not Malonzo wouldve been a good replacement at SF.

dwight is playing that way even with tab at the helm and even didnt play oqt because he was injured..Pero you cant blame the guy when he s on the court he really plays hard and no reservations..he was like marcio lassiter before he broke his pelvic bone and become only a spot up shooter

Heading out of the pool due to back injuries

That's ok for as long as Parks is there, although I believe having anorher deadly 3-pt shooter like a Jordan Heading would be good.

For me the top 9 Gilas players in the current pool are: Kai, Junmar (he somehow proved himself in the recent Gilas Europe stint), Japeth, Malonzo, Dwight R., Clarkson, Parks, CJ Perez, Iskati Thompson.

AJ Edu, if only he's healthy would probably be there instead of Junmar or Japeth.

Good to know that Kai's back pain isn't that bad that it would only require a few days' rest & Kai is ready to go.

Sucks we would be having heading as he is the most deadliest fo shooters in limited touches as he is also an underrated secondary gaurd for us..

Having Parks as the only 3-point shooter is not good. Hope Malonzo and Dwight can pick up the slack. If Oftana gets picked, him too.

Pogoy would be mentioned, but in FIBA, Thirdy shoots better from 3, which isn't really a glowing revelation as a shooting guard. And if he puts up a brickfest, his deficiencies on defense will hamper us further. At least Heading was kinda consistent for us, even though his defense might set us back.

If only Marcio were named to the pool. Good FIBA track record on both ends. But oh, yeah, Abando's there.

Talking about the 28 day rule agreement by FIBA and NBA... Some posters in every social media accounts still unaware of this agreement, And blaming JC why he still not in Gilas practices until now.. Even media is unaware of this, Even Quinito Henson doesn't know the agreement between NBA and FIBA... I don't know if even SBP knows this... They pressuring JC w/o knowing truth... The 28 day rule agreement involving NBA and FIBA is the insurance policy given by NBA to the respective national teams in case something not good happen to the active NBA player (injuries, freak accidents, etc...)... Actually they can tap JC even early June, But they have to manage the 28 day rule given by the NBA, w/c is not advisable since it's hard to manage to plan the assessing the system given by the coach... That's why no national teams starting their training camp until last week of July.... Last year, Slovenia tap Luka Doncic to play in 3rd window of FIBA WC qualifiers, they take him for 5 training days (Remember: The agreement is not include the main FIBA games, it's separate) And they tap him in early August of 2022 to preparation of Eurobasket and 4th window of FIBA WC qualifiers, But it was reduce to 23 days because they use 5 days of 28 day rule agreement late June of 2022... That's why JC can only join Gilas either last week of July or early August....

FIBA News:

Germany - Maxi Kleber decides to withdraw his participation days after Dennis Schroder's comments against him due to his withdrawal last year's Eurobasket, He says "He feels he's not welcome by his teammates", Indirecting towards Schroder...

Greece - Long Time Greek NT member Nick Calathes decides to skip this summer to rest his body... Meanwhile, Greece announced their 18 man pool and Giannis is included in the pool, Although he's still undecided if he will play or not..

Dominican Rep. - Karl Anthony Towns is 90% likely play for DR, According to their federation, They have constant communication w/ KAT and the response is very positive..

He should sit out the remaining Invitationals along with Edu.

But Kai needs to bond & familiarize with his Gilas teammates, and those tune-up games in China will be of big help for him achieve it. Remember, Kai hasn't spent considerable amount of time in Gilas training before so his training & playing with Gilas prior to the World Cup is crucial.

I say we give Kai about 10 days rest then we have him join Gilas training afterwards. Gilas, like all the orher participating teams, is now at the crucial part of its preparation for the World Cup.

Total of 58 confirmed NBA players so far who will participate in this year's FIBA WC, Still waiting for other countries to announce their roster, especially teams have multiple NBAers such as Serbia, Greece, Finland, etc.... 4 more than last 2019 edition of 54 NBA players who participate... (Note: Kleber of Germany and Hachimura of Japan withdraw their participation, that's why replaced them w/ both T'wolves mainstays KAT of DR and Anderson of China, who already confirmed their participation)
