To be fair chance s with tab in the helm and chot in the helm is the same lol.. what were missing is tab palying it right and be good long term..

i maybe a minority here but I really prefer tab in building the team but once theyre ready..chot will inherit it and supplant ddo concepts as the basic foundation tab taught will be used during the teams "downtime".. as chots team has tendency to start hot and have cold dry spells that you think that chot isnt adjusting to other teams counter adjusments..

But this team chot inherited isnt really cooked yet..

This is such a load of horse excrement. "Inherited" is such a huge insult to people who really care for the national team. If chot truly wants to inherit Coach tabs team, why didn't he retain the same core then? Why are we back again with the hugot system, something that Coach Tab avoided at all cost? He didn't inherit it, it's a hostile takeover of the team, Chot and his BCAP buddies would rather see the team suffer and lose with "pure blooded" filipino coach, than see it succeed with a foreign coach like Tab Baldwin, simple as.

I hope Dwight Ramos' knee problem isn't that bad. Hope he can play for the World Cup & be 100% in tip top shape. I think Dwight is the 3rd most important player of Gilas next to Clarkson & Kai. But unlike Clarkson & Kai who have limited reps as far as training & playing with Gilas under coach Chot is concerned, I think Dwight had enough reps training & playing with Gilas already under coach Chot.

Also, I hope Rayray Parks is already healed with that injured hand & he joins Gilas training soon. Parks for me is among the top 8 most important players of the current Gilas pool.

I think there's also that pressure from the PBA bigwigs to include a good number of PBA marque players in the Gilas pool. PBA wants to be well represented in the 2023 World Cup. As I kept on saying, PBA badly wants to ride the 2023 FIBA World Cup bandwagon. I think SBP (especially Al Panlilio & Ricky Vargas) & PBA wanted Tab Baldwin out of the World Cup-bound Gilas team/pool becoz they knew that Tab as Gilas head coach might only include 2 or 3 PBA players in the final 12-man roster of Gilas. If coach Tab was retained as Gilas coach, he probably would not have included a Junmar Fajardo or a Japeth or a CJ Perez in the Gilas pool. PBA obviously doesn't want that.

Dude's busy with Zeinab now. I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing. Haha

I think we lost BRP for good, its like Bong Alvarez with Vivian Velez all over again. (dang BRP you're good looking and rich, you could get someone better than this wannabe kardashian)

Never underestimate the power of a seductress. She'll have you eating from her hands lol.

I think that BRP Jr's above average three-point shooting skills will play a pivotal role in Gilas' World Cup campaign. While the team can manage the absence of the Ravena Bros, losing BRP Jr would undoubtedly pose a significant setback. His scoring prowess, much like Heading's, provides a much-needed offensive boost especially when Gilas can't stop the offense of their opponents.

And unlike Heading, Parks provides much-needed defense from the 2-spot, and even the 3 at times.

If Parks is absent, get ready for Pogoy and Thirdy. I personally don't dislike Thirdy, and don't like the fact that he's criticized more than Pogoy and Wright (who are serial underperformers since 2017), but his skillset really needs work.

Perhaps not too many people realized that Parks was Gilas' leading scorer in last year's FIBA Asia Cup with 13 points/game average & shot a very impressive 50% from 3-pt. range. One thing I like about Parks is that he doesn't have a go-to-guy mentality (he's unlike a CJ Perez) but someone who is willing to facilitate for his teammates which is suited for a Gilas team with players like a Clarkson, Kai Sotto & Dwight Ramos. Of course Parks can provide some defense, though not in the level of a Gabe Norwood.

Well, at least with Thirdy, mag e improve pa yan, most likely since he's just 27 yrs old (of course not that young anymore). Pogoy & Wright on the other hand are both around 32 or 33. I think defensively, Thirdy is better than both Pogoy & Wright. Yun nga lang in terms of 3-pt shooting, Thirdy is inferior.

We need someone that can guard Solano, Liz and other athletic guards. Thirdy fits the bill.

So in the August pocket tournament nandun na si Kai and Clarkson...and hopefully we see Zeinab train with the team..

No CJ was the last PBA star to join Tabs training IRC. I think tab likes CJs potential as PG. He wouldve developed as PG. The problem I think was the training period and PBA doesnt really like Tab. In the end, Raul Soyud was the only one they were offering.

I think Dwight is forcing his body a bit when it comes to Gilas. I think he doesnt want to let us down but he has been injured in most of his Gilas stints. I think his weight and aggressive style in Gilas makes him prone to injury. He is actually a bit small for SF internationally. He makes up for it with his strength and aggression. Bit Im afraid this is not sustainable.

This is the reason why Tab played him as PG as well with Navarro or Balti as SF. But we know Chots style needs more advanced ball handlers in the SF spot. If not Malonzo wouldve been a good replacement at SF.

The PBA says that they'll lend more players to the Gilas pool.

https://sports.inquirer.net/515112/...it-will-lend-more-players-to-national-program

At this point, do we really need more PBA players? It seems that almost all the useful PBA players in Japeth, Scottie, Newsome, Perez, Malonzo, Brownlee, and Oftana are in the pool. Marcio's position is too loaded, so he's honestly out. Almazan, Arana, and Troy are the best the PBA could come up with at the bigman position, the one most in need. Sorry, I'd rather take Gagate, Pablo, Balti, and Mason over the PBA bigs, given the PBA bigs' lack of usefulness at the 4 and 5 spots. Bolick and RJ too over any PBA PG not named Scottie.

The help Gilas needs is outside the PBA, whether amateur or overseas, at this point.

I gave trying to make sense of it all. We all know they'll just put PBA players in there and not even invite players they should invite. It's probably going to be the usual proven sucky players

And, Quinito says that Chot can still invite players to the pool, and then the former mentions this:

"why not pick 12 PBA On Tour standouts, form sparring team & add to pool? Any1 who performs well cud make final 12! Arvin, Paul, Alas, Troy?"

Honestly, the only PBA guys worth considering right now are Black and Marcio, pretty much it. Maybe Alas and Arvin, but I dunno, they're in their primes already. Troy's 31, meaning little chance to improve, and is a poor FIBA performer. Lee's 34, and his FIBA career has been a mixed bag.

Like thatweirdguy says, same sucky players, I guess. But, kung training pool, it's fine, I guess. Just not the WC pool.

Of course he would. The bigger question is, would long hair even give permission to let Japeth, Junmar, and the rest of SMC players to play with Tab to begin with? The PBA won't even lend their players, Tab had to beg them, and in the end the only players he got was from Ateneo and MVP camp. Tab knows how valuable those veteran players are, a couple of months of training is probably enough to get acquainted to his system. The PBA and SMC were intentionally setting him up to fail, despite all of that, his team performance was impressive.
