Also some of the past gilas players who could still be serviceable such as June Mar Fajardo, Poy Erram,Robert Bolick, Terrence Romeo, Ian Sangalang and Raymond Almazan. Then we have ourselves a (dream)pool.

If "Coach Sandy" level coach will coach it, it will put into naught.

We need a world fiba caliber coach. I think if SBP will hire a coach, he must have a better resume than coach tab. It is weird to have an assistant coach which is better than the head coach in national teams

^^The problem with this is, Tim Cone's experience is mostly just PBA with one stint in the Asian games and in the SEA Games.

We need someone with more international experience. And Filipino fans should learn to bite their tongues and give these coaches a slack if their "manok" did not make it to the line up.

We also need to be more open to international coaches in ALL our leagues to them.

Sorry, but that is not good enough. FIBA is way more competitive than PBA. Filipino style of basketball is outdated. And most coaches have 5-10 years experience playing against top teams internationally.

plus tim cone’s team are mostly veterans so more matured and experienced. won by 27 i think (indonesians fans think they are catching up). while dickel’s team mostly inexperienced with the help of coach tab won by 30. mostly pinoy hoop fans thinks a hall of fame coach in the PBA will be good in international game.lol. what if Coach Tim was the head coach of the 1st window team for a two weeks of practice. we all know he’s depending more on veterans and not good developing young players.

How about Geo Chiu? He looks more mobile and taller than Go, and also improving his 3pt shot. He is also playing PF now for the Eaglets.

I like what I am seeing with Chiu, he has quick feet and his 6ft9 big body who can at least bang it up a bit sown low. he is improving but still a work in progress. I hope he get to train abroad too as well as Tamayo and Cortez.

I think CJ will never be a PG, he is actually SF in Phil setting but can play SG... So he is shooin at SG to me though... Im not completely sold on Wright... To thin to be a SF, I would rather have Navarro as our Norwood... Wala na ba chance si Martin as local... He should be our starting PG...

agree... CJ can be a solid SG, I am sorry but Wright was a non factor sa mga international games. I would preffer Navarro or Dwight Ramos walang kabang tumira. How i hope Jordi's body will fill out , i guess he is the best shooter we can have. More consistent walang daga sa dibdib tumira.

Gilas 2023 lineup will be a lot different. Many players can came out and develop.

Hope we are ready by then. Fiba can exempt clarkson and martin(if ineligible) just to have the host a fighting chance. Hope they do.

My prediction is gilas will be in top 16 in 2023 at best, and secind round at worst

Some bit of good news (if it actually happens), tab Baldwin is now being eyed by the SBP to handle our youth program. I think that is the most logical thing to do. He will not be as effective handling our men's team as those established stars have already developed some habits that just can't be changed anymore.

Kai, tamayo, JDGL, Dave ildefonso should already be ready for 2023 should this happen. Aj Edu and Remy Martin are already getting the training in The states. add a couple of vets and a naturalized player and we should be more than enough to surpass our 2014 performance

That WC team was probably our best formed GILAS team. JC and Blatche were in their prime. Guys like RDO,Ping, Chan, Gabe were slightly past their prime but still playable and their game were made for the international game. It sucks that we weren't able to find suitable replacements for those guys..

TC doesn't have the international experience that Chot has. Remember Chot has been in the international scene for a long time.

I admire your optimism that both Edu and Kai are NBA bound. However, I think we should hold our horses here and not view (and declare) it as something imminent.

How is 2014 Argentina better than their last WC team?
