But they were already recognized internationally, especially in Europe before the make it to the NBA... Dazen Petrovic, Niko Galis, Arvydas Sabonis are FIBA legends before they join to the NBA... So w/o FIBA exposure to those players, They will not been tapped by the NBA and before that no social media, no Youtube or any sites, Only tape videos playing FIBA or in top PRO clubs in Europe that the scouts only seen to them...

This is correct,and its now time for the NBA to wean themselves out of FIBA a little bit,no need to send a team that would just embarass the other teams to losing in international ball by 30+ points.This past season lots of players in their roster barely played half of the season,USA should revert back to to the spirit of semi amateurism in international ball,send at least 4 standout college players and more Gleague dominant players with a few young NBA players to support.

Do you think that will be happening? Mark Tatum, the Deputy Commissioner of the NBA are one of the boards in FIBA council and they will not break up w/ them... Do you think NBA alone can achieve their dreams become the most popular sport on earth? Remember, many still not know about NBA, especially the casual ones and countries who are football mad, But for sure most of the countries have their national teams and some plenty of fans surrounding them... If NBA did that, they will kill the sport of basketball and will cut the momentum that 1992 dream team did before... They want to be no.1 sport on earth? That's why i said that if not for FIBA's push to not include PRO athletes for basketball in Olympics, The NBA still an American thing and not be as popular as they were now... Look at NFL, They are the most popular league in America but no one cares outside USA... Because American football as a sport is not a big thing in the rest of the world... Jordan will be not popular outside USA because they will not recognized globally... He will be like Tom Brady, He's very popular in the US but globally, He's not even in top 20 most popular athletes... You will be recognized globally if you participate in most of international competitions... OK, Zion, Young and Morant were been recognized lately but not because of their achievements, They were popular now due to their respective controversies surrounding them.... Even the late David Stern thank former FIBA secretary Boris Stankovic for NBA's global popularity due to 1992 Dream team... At first, USA federation disagreed to allow PROS to play for international competitions, But later they saw how big they will be if they will push their market outside USA... So the rest is history for NBA, FIBA and the sport of basketball as the whole.. NBA still needs FIBA if they want the sport of basketball become the no.1 sport in the world (Even i know it will be not happened, soccer still the king) or being contentious 2nd most popular sport on earth today...

And NBA can't do that what you said that they will break up w/ FIBA because of their goals... They still need FIBA to market their league globally... Example, This year's FIBA WC will be held in 3 countries, I'm sure Philippines and Japan are one of the biggest markets of NBA... But this is the first time NBA involve players will play in Jakarta... Indonesia is the 4th largest populated country on earth, And this will be huge for NBA if they get the market almost 300 million people in Indonesia... Indonesia is a football mad country and only little interest watching NBA.. But because Indonesia is one of the host of FIBA WC, NBA will see this opportunity to come to Indonesia and sell their brands... Another thing, Qatar will host in 2027 FIBA WC, NBA will try also to take the market of rich country of Qatar, especially how successful FIFA WC was last year... It's all about business after all... NBA is not settle just for US market alone... They are aiming worldwide, And FIBA is one of their biggest partners for that...

Admit it or not, Football still the king of sports... NBA and FIBA dreams of being basketball is to be no.1 sport on earth will not materialize if they will be separate apart... It's like FIFA and EPL breaking up together... They are dreaming one day the will compete for popularity against Football/soccer.... It's not secret after all... They still not yet finalized if they are truly no.2 sport on earth since cricket still on contention and they have big number of followers too...

Yeah... In the end of the day, Players will have their final decision if they want to participate or not... Playing for national teams are always privileges, Not obligatory... If guys like Giannis, Luka or Jokic says NO then their national teams and the followers will accept that... But for sure, many of us want them to participate every national team competitions, But they are human afterall... They deserve rest too... Giannis, Luka, Jokic and other international players always love to represent their nations, They taking pride of it... This is their destiny, They are born for that... That's why i'm more like International players than those American players... NBA can’t do that, or not have plans to break their partnership with FIBA… it’s like FIFA breaking up w/ EPL or IPL break up with ICC… do you know that fiba and nba even have merge partnership w/ BAL in Africa.. that means both have their mission to increase the popularity of basketball in Africa… even the EASL and WASL in asia has the support both of NBA and FIBA.. why? Both have plans to compete with the popularity of football (whether they tell it or not, it’s obvious)… you didn’t know how the business side of their partnership, the reason why NBA is also support FIBA’s new format.. is to increase the awareness of the sport worldwide…. You don’t know what will exactly happen if they break up, they will both lose millions of dollars since both are same in terms of their goals worldwide… the history of basketball is not the same for football and cricket… 10 years ago, basketball is only 9th most popular sport, NBA is globally popular, but there is still lacking, the international presence of followers… fast forward now, the basketball is now 2nd (or 3rd in some sites) as most popular sport… the reason? International players taking over the sport and increase international competitions… don’t tell NBA can easily dispatch FIBA since they are both the biggest institutions of basketball world… the reason why volleyball is just only 6th most popular because even it is Olympic sport and have international competitions is because no prominent professional leagues for volleyball, maybe there are but not as big as NBA in basketball or IPL in cricket…

No chance bro… the only way to beat USA is to have talents that match them plus chemistry… current NZL team doesn’t have NBA talent material and even they have good chemistry, they will be bothered by sheer talent by Americans… maybe a 24 pt lead lose is OK for NZL vs Americans… maybe they have a chance vs Greece if Giannis will not play… but I guess giannis will play since he and his bros are now in Athens doing individual workouts together… if not for 28 day rule agreement by nba and fiba then giannis already in Greek team practicing…

if the 36ers beat a supposedly real NBA team in the Suns using NBA rules , who knows really. These young Americans may not know how to respond if game is close especially in the very 1st game. . BTW 36ers don't have real NBA rotation talent as well ..

Well to be honest I wouldn't place too much weight on that game. Suns were in preseason mode and didn't treat it seriously. Yeah it became a meme for while online but it looked more like a pick up i mean just look at the final score. Nobody even bothered playing defense and they distributed the minutes evenly on their main guys.
