Dios mio. Here we go again with your picks from the pool when it's very plausible that Pogoy, both Ravenas, and Junmar make the final lineup.

With Bolick, I think his game and JC's game is similar and I'm guessing Chot would rather have JC do iso than Bolick, who played that Pogoy role just sitting on the wing the last time he played for Gilas. He doesn't know how to use Bolick as a point the same way he doesn't know how to use anyone other than a retired Gabe Norwood defending the wing.

It's too early to say if all the games will end up in blowout losses with JC and Kai there, but I'm not confident for Gilas getting that Asian slot for the Olympics. I really don't see them winning a game in the group. Home advantage naman so we do the China thing of messing with our group opponent's bus and delaying their shoot-around.

Ramos
BRP
JC
Perez
Heading
Malonzo

Who exactly are Pogoy and Thirdy replacing among those?

Scottie
Newsome

Do we seriously need another sub-6'0 in Kiefer?

Kai
Japeth
Edu
Tamayo

Unless Japeth is injured, then I don’t see Junemar making the final lineup.

The only reason Pogoy and Thirdy made the roster last time was because we didn’t have enough options. Last time Thirdy made the cut, he didn’t even get that much minutes.

Thirdy need to play 1.. and his competitons at 1 are iskati, new and his brother...jordan is tooa ccurate of a spot up shooter and we have a oftana who is more usable against italy..

I think they can win vs Angola, and vs China in classification matches... I think that's enough to get Asian slot for Olympics

Quite disappointed that Balti was not included in the training pool because of issues on the PBA with Delta his handlers. As much as we don’t want the Ravena bros., Pogoy(due to inconsistencies both on offense and defense; lack of height on their respective position), Junemar(due to knee issues) and Erram(due to defensive lapses most of the time) well that’s the call of the SBP being the poster boys of the SBP and MVP teams. On the positive side, putting AK34 on the pool is a good sign already, still hoping that SBP may woke up on the right side of the bed and lobby for the dude’s exemption before the actual competition started. It would be interesting how Calvin Oftana and Rhenz Abando will respond and adjust for the forthcoming overseas training, How’s AJ Edu’s overall health condition moving forward. Still hoping that the likes of BGR, Michael P. and Sedrick may be included in the training pool not only to provide warm bodies but also in preparation for Hangzhou AG wherein they are eligible to play as per OCA.

Tagging either JC or JB on the last minute as a local is just a fantasy, a make belief.

Pool released, Poy Erram in the pool is....interesting

Just shows you how brittle the other centers in the pool are: Japeth, Edu. Erram himself is no iron man. Politics I guess is the name of the game. Balti played center decently in Dubai. By most metrics he should be there over Erram.

could have been worse, imagine Almazan or Sangalang instead of Erram in the pool. Though at this rate i might even settle for Slaughter to make use of that FIBA exception.

so outside JMF, the best we could tapped from the pro ranks that is FIBA eligible is Erram. says much about our depth at the 5 and of local development

The bright side with the pool is that SBP might try requesting FIBA for the local status of Kouame. Having Kouame in the final line up would really boost the interior defense of the team.

They should really do that...Waking up in the right side of the bed is the first step for those stakeholders to lobby for exemption.

Nigeria is a far more cohesive team (even beat Team USA before the Olympics) than Gilas but Angola just outworked them in both qualifiers. They're more athletic, they're active on defense, apart from Kai... they have better size in all positions. If your only basis of Angola was 2019 against Yeng Guiao's quality Gilas team, that was an entire cycle ago. Their coach now has way more experience in the FIBA game than Chot... and they actually look similar to how Tab Baldwin runs a swing offense. Hate to say it, but they're gonna move the ball better while Chot will rinse and repeat the SEA Games in the World Cup with better players.

Basically NZ with more athletic players.

Prepare to be dissapointed, ange kouame is just there for fan service..lol 6 weeks including the tournament proper.. so he will come by July rin lol

And here is the thing , if Kouame and Japeth are still recovering from injury, who does AJ go up against in practice for next 2 weeks?
Erram ?, c'mon now.

U seem to underestimate our pool of big men bro. There's the super quick-footed & agile big guy in Junmar Fajardo! He's not a 6-time PBA MVP for nothing!:cool:

The super weird thing about pushing for Kai's exception, when ii discussed it with Tab, he shared it with MVP, (who no longer was was the head of SBP) not Panilio, when I had a chance encounter wirh Panilio about it , he ignored idea (don't know why, cause he was by passed or something), then only to find out his colleges idea is Brownlee for exception. This is kind of insane , really.
its like it's a bad idea if it's coming from Tab, but a good idea when its coming from Vargas, brilliant.

I think Nigeria didn't play full force in the qualifiers as most of their key players were playing in Europe or elsewhere. Angola on the other, hand I think a good No. of its key players are playing in their domestic league hence they were availabe during the qualifiers. I think if Nigeria play full force it is easily the strongest team in Africa. I watched that exhibition game where Nigeria beat team USA.

Panlilio and Vargas don't like Tab for some reason. I'm beginning to have doubts on PLDT's future if a guy like Panlilio is its head. Competency >>>> Palakasan

Angola isn't that tall compared to other African teams. Last WC they only had a 1inch height advantage on Gilas (Gilas had a team ave. height of 6'4 while Angola had an ave. height of 6'5), same with DR too, both Gilas and DR were about the same ave. height last WC at 6'4. With Kai being in the lineup expect Gilas to go toe-toe IN HEIGHT against almost all teams in the WC. imo

lol we will see who will go to estonia with Junmar still out and in recovery mode I expect Aj Edu to have some burn..
