Well UC berkeley is one of the best schools around in US or in the world.. you are not allowed to go petiks mode ala kobe.. you need to pass the high passing mark of an scholar athlete.. if not then bye bye..

Speaking off good universities, did UC Berkeley (Cal Bears) tried to recruit Kobe Paras? I mean, if my son is being recruited by that school, no way in hell im gonna turn it down, unless there's a competing offer from Stanford U.

Maybe they found out that Kobe's SAT wasn't good enough for them. Diba Kobe's SAT score was the reason he didn't make it to UCLA, do I remember it correctly?

Dubai tournament is a competitive tournament.
This will help our future NT players to build some camaraderie between them (Local and Naturalized).

This is among the international tournaments that Gilas-1 actively participated in 2010 & 2011. The tournament usually features the top pro teams of Lebanon, Egypt, Tunisia, Morroco, UAE, etc. Each team can have as many as 3 imports with only 2 can play at the same time.

And Gilas-1 did very well in this tournament.

Barefield over Remy Martin? Wait, how about that one who played in the ABL, the one that holds an assist record in the US NCAA? That one, along with Kai, AJ, NP, and kobe/ray-ray will start for me

Brickman? Not eligible

Yep, Barefield over Martin, 6'2 pg over 5'11 pg. Also for me, Sedrick have a big chance to enter NBA than Remy. Also for me 6'5 freshman playmaker Robin Duncan has a higher upside than Sedrick and Remy, think of a 6'5 version of Big J and Scottie Thompson and also he is now a starter for Vermont in their past 4 games..

How old are AJ Edu's brothers in 2023? I guess there is no love for Ildefonso. That's another tall guard and maybe good sized point guard in Jordan Heading. If the Hagop rule will be scrapped, I would like to get Christian David as our top small forward.

Yeah, I forgot FIBA eligible Jordan Heading and also current top amateur PGs of the country JGDL, Belangel, Nieto and Bolick who are all potential pg of future Gilas. There is also DJ Fenner for the 3 position if Hagop rule will be scrap..

I’d still think Martin has the higher chance. Maybe shorter but he has the athleticism to compensate. Just look at how fast he is

Both Remy and sedrick had a stellar HS career but hasn't heard of the latter since he entered college, Remy, on the other hand, had quite an impressive rookie season. I like sedricks skills but Remy's athleticism makes him dangerous on both ends of the court. He's, to me, a quicker, more athletic and craftier version of Chris Ross

Barefield averages 16.2 PPG, 1.9 RPG, and 3.7 APG for Utah this season.

I hope that Geo Chiu continues to develop his game and is ready by 2023. We're still lacking in the center and power forward positions, but the talent in the guard pool is definitely there.

My very early predictions for the 2023 team are:
1. Remy Martin 5'11-6'0 (Arguably the best Fil-Am currently playing NCAA Division 1 Basketball besides Sedrick Barefield)
2. JGDL 6'1
3. Ricci Rivero 6'2
4. Dave Ildefonso 6'4
5. Travis Roberts 6'5 (Doesn't get mentioned too often but has been impressive in the footage I've seen)
6. Kobe Paras 6'6
7. Carl Tamayo 6'7
8. Raven Cortez 6'7
9. Geo Chiu 6'8-6'9
10. AJ Edu 6'10 (Possibly the NBA, but still has a lot of work to do offensively)
11. Quentin Millora Brown 6'10 (assuming he gets his passport, but would have to take up the naturalized slot)
12. Kai Sotto 7'2 (Possibly in the NBA? or at the very least playing in a high-level basketball league in Europe)

I'll have Ricci to provided he can transition to playing point guard and he improves his outside shooting. No doubt about his skills but his height is a real concern. The same could be said of thirdy Ravena who isn't on your list but I think he has the slight edge because he's taller and is well built. Biggest concern tho is his outside shooting which is still inconsistent. It would be ideal if he becomes a combo guard.

I'm not really sold out with the idea of converting Ricci Rivero to point guard. Yes, I do agree with the consensus here in IBN about the need to develop good size point guards for the Philippine team. Having 6-foot-1/6-foot-2 point guards in team Pilipinas would be great. But it shouldn't be done at all cost. Having "tall" point guards in the National team isn't the lone solution. Not all shooting guards can be converted to point guards even if the conversion was done very early in their careers. 1GDL seems to have that potential to convert from shooting guard to point guard, but not all shooting guards are like 1GDL. And I don't think Ricci has the characteristics of a 1GDL.

I say the more realistic approach in improving the ceiling of our point guards is to develop young players to play combo guards, say in the mold of a Kiefer Ravena or a Robert Bollick. But such approach shouldn't be forced if its not there from the onset. Kiefer & Bollick aren't really that tall. Kief is barely 5-foot-11 while Bollick is around 6-foot-flat, but they have the skills, the smarts & the discipline of a natural point guard. I really doubt it if 3 years from now Ricci would come close to where Kief & Bollick right now, as far as point guard skills, smarts & discipline are concerned.

What's Ricci's real height? He doesn't seem that tall compared to Bolick

At this point the number #1 Div. 2 school in the US is a good option for our high school graduates.

I am sure our best high school students in the country can be considered a definite 4/ 5-star recruit as far as div. 2 schools are concerned ( i think  )

In which case, they can have all the playing time the want in those schools (i think). And given that at least around 10 games will be played against div. 1 schools, this kind of set up is good for our homegrown kids.

Any thoughts guys?

Isaac Go is also currently being groomed by Tab himself to play PF. Problem is that he only has a year to work on this, before he inevitably becomes a center in the PBA. If all goes well, best case scenario for him will probably be a bigger Ranidel, with more BBIQ and less, err, "physicality"
