Brandon Ingram and Jaren Jackson Jr also commits to team USA. hmm not bad btw, sucks for SBP and the sponsors though who are expecting A and S level nba names

No one expecting USA will bring their A and S tiers, since Americans didn't prioritize FIBA competitions too much... Still good enough and better version than 2019... In 2019, No one in that line up are all star calibers (Tatum, Brown and Mitchell are not all stars that time)... In 2023, JJJ, Haliburton and Edwards are already all star members while Brunson is also near all star caliber guy...

US commits:

PF Bobby Portis 6'11
F/C Jaren Jackson, Jr. 6'10
SF Brandon Ingram 6'8
G/F Mikal Bridges 6'6
G/F Austin Reaves 6'5
G Tyrese Haliburton 6'5
SG Anthony Edwards 6'4
PG Jalen Brunson 6'2

invites:

G/F Alex Caruso 6'5

This line up still needs another center, another PG (or combo guard) and bunch of veteran or role players (probably veteran players to lead this young core).... Draymond Green? Dame Lilliard? Let's see!!!!

Great USAB development, at least in the perspective of all non-US international basketball fans. Having less A and S-tier NBA players for Team USA somehow makes this upcoming FIBA WC less predictable.

Chet Holmgrem ( if given the go signal by OKC) imagine the riot here at ibn when kai and chet would match up (would not happen of course due to the different brackets and groupings)

The draw favors the USA to at least make the semis unless they lose to Greece in the group stage then Greece don't lose their two 2nd round games to possibly Lithuania and Montenegro, in which case, the USA would be looking at a quarter final match against Serbia. I'd like to guess the USA are building a team who can limit the other 4 players around Giannis and hope that he tires defensively while they try to run at every opportunity. Looks like they want mobile and long players... even Bridges and Haliburton have really long arms for their height. Expect the rest of the pool to fill up after the Finals.

Meanwhile... what's Chot waiting for? Weren't they supposed to start June 1 before heading to Europe?

Aside from their superior athleticism-driven offense and press D, i believe Team USA will need to bank on a hastily-established team chemistry (fill the remaining slots by getting players from teams running system of plays similar to GSW's?) to get past the top 10 NTs that could potentially be in their path to the gold. Without a Durant-level (and int'l ball decorated) scorer and leader, i just don't see this current Team USA winning it all, considering that the competition has improved by leaps and bounds since they last won in 2014.

As for our Chot-Gilas combo, i haven't read any news since completing the pool.

It’s safe to say Balti and Bolick are not in SBP/PBA’s good graces. Not even part of the 21 man pool despite having all the tools to compete for a roster slot.

Bolick, Balti, and RJ are not in the pool. Man. If guys like Pogoy, Erram, and June Mar are in the pool, the former three should have been included.

How about Jarret Allen of Cavs? Hoping for atleast one establish star to lead USA... I'm talking about Dame Lilliard, He needs this to atleast increase his achievement resume since his inclusion in 75 greatest players in the NBA has some doubts among all basketball fanatics... He can go ala Carmelo Anthony route, no NBA rings but multiple international medals... The team badly needs veteran guy (experienced international/FIBA campaigner) to guide young squad...

heading's also not on the pool, he has always performed well on fiba games

Let's do the pool again but by height and natural playing position

Pogoy 182cm - SG
Kiefer 185cm - PG
Scottie 186cm - PG
Heading 188cm - SG
Newsome 188cm - SG
CJ 188cm - SG
Thirdy 189cm - SG
Abando 188cm - SG
Parks 193cm - SF
Ramos 193cm - SF
Oftana 195cm - SF
JC 198cm - SG
Brownlee 200cm -SF
Tamayo 201cm - PF
Malonzo 201cm - SF
Erram 201cm - C
Edu 208cm - PF
Japeth 208cm - C
Junmar 208cm - C
Ange 211cm - C
Kai 216cm - C

This is Chot's team so we can all forget about defending the wing and just assume he goes for the obvious drive and kick out/drop pass similar to how the SEA Games squad did it. There's no point now in whining who should have been included, there's still time for this team to have a plan against different types of teams.

What's the deal with three naturalized players in the player pool?

Is that a sign of Clarkson not being 100% committed? Or are you still holding trying to petition FIBA to consider him local (I thought that was settled)?

lol, you're overthinking it. i'm pretty sure the SBP has that much money to afford to send them all to Europe for training camp.

I think there is really something wrong with Baltazar's relationship with SBP or should I say Baltazar's handlers' relationship with the SBP.

With regards to Bolick, I think he's not that willing to play for the national team anymore.

The absence of Mike Philips is headscratching. Believe it or not, I think that he is more fit for Chot's set up than both Erram and Junemar will ever be. The kid is 6'8 energetic and athletic bigman. He can rebound and defend as well. He also has a strong case for the FIBA exemption.
