Just for fun , who would be your 18 man extended pool for Gilas ?

For fun? You mean like a facebook comment? I can do that too!

Guards: Thompson 6'1 Heading 6'2 Abando 6'2 Abarrientos 5'11 Bolick 6'0

Wings: Clarkson 6'6 Brownlee 6'7 Quiambao 6'4 Ramos 6'4 Malonzo 6'7 Navarro 6'6 Oftana 6'5 Parks 6'4

Bigs: Kouame 6'11 Aguilar 6'10 Sotto 7'1 Tamayo 6'7 Amos 6'7

Damn, we suck. We don't have a guard taller than 6'3 (as far as the FIBA height listing is concerned) and I don't consider Parks a guard anymore since he's been spending the last few years sitting on the corner for Nagoya like how a Chot Reyes team wants his wings. Tab wanted Ramos to develop into a FIBA-level guard, but we've seen Chot use him as a small ball 4... which Quiambao actually is and why I picked him. Of the old Tab guys that Chot will never pick for the final squad but need for practice, Navarro will be useful...but if Mike Phillips dominates the glass in the SEA Games against all those Americans, I'm actually thinking he should be included and take out Navarro. I personally wouldn't pick either Ravena over Bolick, I'm even considering Perez over both of them anyway. We just have way too many good guards but what Gilas needs are guys who can defend 6'6 - 6'8 guys on the switch and go back to the New Zealand blowout and the 2nd half of the DR game for reference.

South Sudan That team was littered with 8 current and former NBL names in Majok Deng, Bul Kuol, Sunday Dech, Deng Deng, Deng Acuoth, Jackson Makoi, Kuany Kuany and Jo Lual-Acuil.

2 Brazilian national team players are former NBL playears

While French Breakers drsftees Dieng , Rupert , Hugo coild make the WC

Of course .many Australia and NZL players are NBL

Asian players , Zhou, Kai and Baba

My count is at least 30 former and current NBL players will play in WC, they could be a top 5 league in terms of number of World cup players

I just hope that the philippines wont lead the world cup with the most number of players on the roster from the domestic league (outside the USA and the NBA of course). for the previous 2 world cups 11 of our players are from the PBA!

And in the last WC, over half the roster was lacking in quality. Really, the only quality performers in there were Blatche, Perez, Bolick, and maybe June Mar and old Gabe.

that was a embarrassing roster, barroca, overweight and injured paul lee, post dust ravena, tnt duo of pogoy and rosario had no business playing on the World Cup. Blatche was overweight and guarded properly

didnt help that the rest of the field prepared for us while gilas was there for token participation

Don't forget Almazan. Hahahahaha. Japeth was a good addition, he just performed poorly. Thank God na lang din that we have younger, better replacements from the collegiate and some PBA ranks.

As for the prep, sus ginoo, the PBA ended two weeks before the WC. Jesus Christ, that was a recipe for disaster. That' frankly why I prefer our Gilas players to go overseas.

2019 Gilas is like watching a car wreck final destination style. I hope that the 2023 Gils would have 6-7 players coming from foreign leagues (so JC, Kai, Dwight,BRP as locks, with Tamayo, Amos, RJ, Abando, one of the ravenas l, AJ aedu having a shot) for the PBA Thompson as a lock, Cstan ( if he gets that exception)

no more pogoy pls.

My only PBA locks for the WC are Scottie, Japeth, Malonzo, and maybe Oftana. So, at least that kinda lessens the reliance on the PBA.

Why Pogoy and Troy made Gilas lineups after that WC, I don't know. Pogoy did have a good outing against Indonesia under Dickel, and that good November 2022 window, but he's too inconsistent on both ends. And his history of bricks, man.

gawad kalinga and habitats for humanity can use pogoy and rosario after that 2019 stint. Perez could have been useful internationally if he had reps plus if he can play PG and have a consistent 3 point shot.

Bolick din sana, but he’s on SBP,s doghouse

Kai, Ramos, Tamayo and maybe Parks can capable to play in final roster

I was referring to all national teams , (Japan , Europe , Amercias, Oceania) , like B- league Fotu and Kay will play for NZ and Aust
Which is a reflection of the level of players in the B -league. the NBL has around 30 players playing in the 2023 WC

Simmon is given a 1 month ultimatum to commit or else never play for Boomers... let's see ... what happens

Australia is a basketball powerhouse of course NBL, its domestic league, will have a lot of WC players. Japan is a low level compared to Australia but its domestic league, the B league, has players who will play the WC. Of course its own players. As you said, some imports are WC players, so this is a good indication that it has a high level. Note however, that it has some US imports that could probably play for other WC countries if they could. I would say the B league is punching above its country's weight class.

In a way I like how JP guys are not recruiting NBA caliber for its NP slot. Instead they are spending their money to make their domestic league more internationally competitive. And of course they send their better players abroad to train or to play in superior leagues. If we had JP's money we would have recruited the best NBA player we could afford. Somebody better than Blatche. It's embarassing but I admire JP's handling of this over ours.

Around how many players from B league will play in WC ?

*Australia - Froling, Kay
*New Zealand - Fotu
*Philippines - Dwight, Kai, Parks, Adams, Heading, Thirdy, Kiefer
*Japan - 9 players (because Hachimura, Baba and Watanabe are based overseas)

There are also players from China, Montenegro, Venezuela, Spain, and Canada that can be considered by their respective countries to represent their teams in this year's World Cup.

I say that there are plenty of B.League players that we will see in action in this year's World Cup.

Heck even Douthit is better than their NP. If they had gotten the best NP they could afford our record against them would probably be a lot worse

This is not bad level and actually good exposure for Gilas players especially since they get playing time.... .
