Batum seems to have played for France almost every year, From 2009 straight? to 2021. Good job on him.

In Europe.. playing for national team is a big deal, whether it's WC or Olympics.. For them, the value it's same... Especially if they playing against their rival European nations (Spain vs France, Greece vs Turkey, Greece vs Serbia, ex Yugoslav match ups, etc) and against USA... For Europeans, beating team USA in a sports field is a big thing because for them, this is the only arena that they can prove to the Americans that they are the best over them.. Unfortunately, the only sport that they can prove that is only basketball... In soccer/football, Europeans are better than Americans, especially the latter doesn't care about that sport and not powerhouse in football/soccer, They can't also prove that in cricket, since Americans doesn't know that sport... While Europeans doesn't acknowledge most of American sports likes of Baseball, American football while only handful of countries only playing in Ice Hockey (northern hemisphere countries only) and volleyball (only Poland and Italy are good volleyball teams in Europe).. That's why basketball is the only sport that can prove to Americans that they are better... Europeans only accept basketball in all American sports due to cheap and easy to play...

USA ain't invincible in hockey, they ain't even the top NT from their own continent, though being a world no. 4 ain't so bad either. It's a European NT that's on top of the world rankings.

Yeah... Russia, Canada are better teams there, and most of the teams who playing in ice hockey are those who in the Northern part of the hemisphere, While Field hockey is always consist of British colonial counties likes of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, etc....

speaking of field hockey, NZ actually won an Olympic gold in the event, in my younger years i dated a girl ( who won Olympic gold for Netherlands)

I'm curious on Iceland's Viking clap, Actually they have a chance to make it to the FIBA WC this year, currently 4-4 and tied w/ Georgia for final spot for qualification in Group L... I want to see Iceland's viking clap either Manila, Okinawa or Jakarta, and face up against NZL's Haka... let's see who among traditional sports mantra are better?

NZL's Haka

I am more accustomed to NZL sports teams' war chant but Iceland's is just as awesome with its audience initiating it. This is something I would like for PHL to have, instead of the usual cheering and jeering.

There is a misconception about the Haka, it's actually a sign of respect if they do it , as it is a recognition that opponent is worthy, in fact we normally do it to our heroes as a sign of respect .

It's more disrespectful if not done as it means opponent is not worthy

PH/SBP could use the Ginebra crowd to have the traditional chant of Gilas And Puso.

My WC squad : Clarkson, Parks, Erram, Thompson, Sotto, Malonzo, Pogoy, Perez, Ramos, Aguilar, Tamayo, Edu

For Asian Games (5X5) : Brownlee, Oftana, Abando, Baltazar, Quiambao, Fajardo, Almazan, S. Ildefonso, Bolick, Navarro, M.Amos, Winston

Asian Games (3x3) : Brickman, Monzon, Hermoso, Mikey Williams

Interesting choice in retaining Erram and Pogoy for the WC lineup. Pogoy's erratic at best on both ends in FIBA (although he did perform well last window), same with Erram.

Pogoy doesn’t deserve in the narrative for that final 12 WC 2023 lineup rather I would put a healthy Erram as the 12th guy with limited minutes. As for the Asian Games 3x3 I would exclude Jason and Mickey Mouse and replaced them with a much younger Sedric and Remy both already PH Passport holder but the question is are SBP are willing to lure those boys and those lads are interested enough to consider playing.

Id take parks, heading, tolentino before pogoy as 2-guards. Obviously Ramos. Winston as well for development.

Going against Tolentino is his defense, he looks really slow and soft at this stage, you add shaky handles for a wing and we got ourselves a 6'5 combo forward who'd looked way out of place against Asian teams. Too slow to guard quick forwards and guards and not nearly strong enough and does not have elite length to be a 4 internationally in short pang-PBA only, if he sheds the excess weight and becomes quicker he might be a Calvin Oftana pero if that's the case lets just take Oftana now

He was supposed to be the next RDO The original one before the Tamayos, Amos etc. I still think of him as an undersized stretch 4. No point in having him when we got better talents right?

exactly, but for practice games to simulate tall shooters of course he could help

I will pick France over Slovenia as top 3 teams for upcoming FIBA WC... They have better roster than Slovenia... Even Serbia has better roster if they put all of their best players on their team... Although Slovenia have a shot to get a medal for this year's FIBA WC....

For me, this is the favorites for this year's event (Top 10):

Spain
France
USA - (Depending on the roster they will built)
Serbia
Slovenia
Australia
Canada
Greece
Lithuania
Germany

Japan boys are coming, how about the oppas? I was hoping Abando & RJ can get at least a tryout for the team. Speaking of Abando do you guys think he can be our version of Gary Payton II.

KBL will not have a FIBA break since Korea is already out of the qualifiers

I think no point for SBP to include players they already saw but dont have a chance to make it to the World Cup team. They're ramping up preps for August.

Abando SJ RJ are next in line but not for this year.
