@iamMVP
SBP has started to plan and prepare for 2023. We need to supply to spectators and guests an experience like never before, and demonstrate Filipino hospitality. Much pressure on our Gilas Team though - which is good. Ergo, let’s do better. Puso! #LabanPilipinas!

Or there’s no plan at all? LOL

the plan is to demonstrate hospitality and entertain the guests; not to be competitive or excellent on the court. It all starts with a mediocre coach

wtf, just now? shouldnt they be preparing for 2023 since we got the hosting gig?

So the oligarch posted only "now"??..no wonder the poor performance of the team because the preparation and plans is only now.

for me you only need few players from PBA

bolick
Abai
perez
oftana
malonzo

one of this players will probably get cut.. so 4 players from PBA and 8 from foreign leagues and collegiate

no way scottie thompson’s game will translate to FIBA type of game..

still hoping that ange will get a nod as local and kabayan clarkson as NP..

Coming off an injury, AJ Edu’s name is slowly being peeled off the World Cup pool.

US NCAA training camp starts in August to September 2022. The season starts in November 2022 and ends in March 2023. Schools in the US ends around June 2023.

Scheduling for Edu to be included into the WC pool will be difficult. When can you insert him for Gilas duties to integrate himself to the team? It’s practically difficult considering the World Cup is slated on August 2023.

He still can get 30+ days,to integrate probably more if he can end his school days remotely.

This coming US NCAA season is Edu's final year at Toledo... It means, after the US NCAA season, SBP can tap Edu right away to join Gilas pool... Maybe he will lead the Gilas team for 2023 SEAG slated in May 2023 at Cambodia...

Earliest is June 2023. May 2023 he still has school, but basketball season in the states ends at March

For sure Gilas will be group either one of powerhouse teams, any group will have one powerhouse team to balance the competition... I hope other two are beatable Latin American team and one African team (Not named Nigeria and maybe South Sudan)....

They’re choosing the group so they’ll probably choose the one with Team USA for fan service. Given how stupid their decisions have been, this one isn’t so far-fetched.

If they want to make it to the 2nd round (probable but if you look at current position of SBP), They should avoid team USA in 1st round... If they group with team USA, they will be group also with another European team, since the rules of grouping as that separate sub zones in every group, meaning every team will have atleast one Asian/Oceania per group, 1 or 2 Europeans per group depending on FIBA rankings, 1 African team and one Americas team per group.... We can't afford to bracketed with 2 European squads in one group or 1 team USA and one Europe team in that group...

They probably wont have a chance to play Team USA in the future, so better do it while they still can. With that being said, Team USA will probably be bannered by the likes of Anthony Edwards, Lamelo Ball, Ja Morant..maybe KAT and Tatum... and the like. I won't expect the the biggies who reside in the upper stratosphere like LBJ, KD, Steph, Dray, etc. to be there.

Kerr is the coach so I expect Steph, Klay, Wiggins, Poole, or Draymond to be around. Any one of them.

the only other chance would be through a pocket tournament or friendlies prior the WC, but hosting those will be expensive AF

If the US plays here in Manila SBP should round up all the girls in P Burgos to serve as "ushers" for Team USA .... hopefully by 2039 we will have a giant U16 youth team

no, it should be our women's national volleyball players. Then we get a generation of 11 year old dunkers hahaha

im just happy that there's no feminazis in our forum :). But yeah imagine Luka or Tatum having kids with our voleyball players, those would be super athletes in asian standards

if our 2023 final 12 will just be from the teams that played d two rounds of qualifiers, SEA games, and asia cup, these will be my players (based on actual performance):

center - ange, junmar
pf - carl, poy, kevin
sf - ramos, ravena
sg- parks, wright
pg - ravena, bolick, belangel

With Jordan Clarkson almost 100% certain to play in the 2023 World Cup, I just hope naman that Choke Reyes puts enough emphasis on defense. With Clarkson, Kai, Dwight, AJ Edu & Thirdy in there, I think our offensive firepower would be ok, but if we don't exert enough effort in defense, just like what we did in the 2022 Asia Cup, we will go nowhere.

With Clarkson kasi, we are already assured of some 25+ pts from him in every game. But basketball is an offensive & defensive game. In fact in very high level competition like the World Cup, defense is more important than offense. It is defense that separates quality teams from below par ones.
