I got feel that chot will still take clarkson even as a naturalized player… kating Kati na yan si chot to handle like him.. kaya nga kapit tuko na sya dyan..

Well, Chot's DDO system isn't really effective without the hero ball factor.

People back in 2014 said small ball was effective. NO.

Castro, Alapag, and Blatche were effective. Not the system.

Yeah them w/ Ping and RDO in the front lines for defense. That 2014 team had a good ensemble of role players that were also smart.

The ironic thing Chot never realized, is that point center is what opened up the defense as Blatche took out the rim protector. It was groundbreaking stuff that giannis/ jokic now does.

Small-ball is effective if you have the talent and/or versatility of say, last year's Bucks or Nets, the GSW dynasty, and the Big 3 Heat. Otherwise, it's just a fad.

A lineup of Kiefer-Thirdy-Dwight-Oftana-Baltazar is a better small-ball lineup than Castro-Alapag-Chan-Ping-Blatche because of the versatility. There could be better comparisons, though, but that's just an illustration of what I call proper small-ball.

Actual small ball, guys who play big and can defend.

The problem here really is that small ball has been misinterpreted here in the Philippines as just being smaller and quicker, without a change in skillset from the 4 (for instance, being still an undersized traditional big instead of a wing) and/or the 5 (for example, unable to play 4), and/or without giving regard to the versatility factor.

I would really kill to have the Bulls' starting lineup.

3-4 guys who are 6'6 and one 7'0+ guy.

I was already happy with Tab's: 5'10+6'4+6'7+6'7+6'10

And we're back to Choke's midget lineup

Yes, Japan might be the favorites to get the Asian ticket to the Olympics, But it is still depending on the draw, not just in Preliminary round, But even who will be the group in classification rounds (those who not make it to the 2nd round)... Last 2019 WC, China gets favorable draw in Prelim round, but they didn't see if they fail in Prelims and go to classification rounds, China unexpected facing tough road when they faced Nigeria in classification round.. While Iran gets a favorable draw in classification round when they only face lighter opponent in Angola and Philippines... The luck of Asian teams will be depend on draw up to classification rounds, Even Japan not sure if they can easily make it.. Expect that all Asian team will not make it to the 2nd round, And it will depend to the draw in classification round when Asian teams will fight for spot at Olympics... That's why i have still fate in Gilas.. Chot and SBP should sure that even they will lose, it will be not by huge margin, because quotient system will be determine after classification round.. Iran make it last time because they didn't lose to much against European and American teams... Remember Iran only lose to Spain by 9 pts and Puerto Rico by 3 pts.. That's huge when they go to classification round and they defeat Angola and Philippines by double digit leads... Gilas should follow what Iran footstep did and they will have a chance...

too bad, TAMBAK and Chot Reyes/Yeng are synonymous. tsk tsk

Yeah, Lonzo-Zach-DeRozan-Javonte-Vuč is a versatile lineup on defense from 1-4 (especially Lonzo and Javonte), and they don't give up that much size. The closing lineup is deadlier defensively, though. Lonzo-Caruso-Zach-DeRozan-Vuč.

Yeah, Tab's big but versatile lineup. Man, where have we gone. Hope Chot can adjust and adopt Tab's philosophy when it comes to lineups and tactics, but I have guarded optimism at best.

Yeah they took it literally and never understood its idea.

Its really find short players who can physically make it up w/ length and athleticism + all around game + strong enough to defend the interior and quick enough to rotate on the perimeter = SMALL BALL

With chot, expect Pogoy as the small forward and Troy as his powerforward hahahaha

Other than the 1 and 3, those heights you listed are the average size for players in those positions.

here is an actual research for average NBA height and size

https://runrepeat.com/height-evolution-in-the-nba

for 2022 the average height of a line up: 6'2.4'' 6'4.3'' 6'6.6'' 6'8.3'' 6'10''

Why am I laughing at this possibility and at the same time worried that this would be actually used in the WC? Hahahahahahaha.

It's kinda like find someone like Abueva. Short, but makes up with athleticism, quickness, strength, and a semblance of an all around game.

If only we could find a 6'4"-6'6" version of him. Three of those types at 2, 3, 4, or even 5 could pass as a real small-ball lineup.

lol thats the pinoy unicorn man, forget porzingis. Finding a 6'4-6'6 cannonball like him is a needle in a haystack.

Mark Telan ,Kerby Raymundo, Jun Limpot, Asaytano, and El presidente. They were unicorns in the wrong era.

Tamayo and Balti could be it

Shame about Khobuntin never taking off after his 3x3 performance.

With Kai's recent injury after 1 good game at limited minutes, we have to be reasonable about his level by 2023. If he can play 30 minutes of decent to above average Fiba World Cup defense, then good. But that's a risky gamble. With Ange's body of work from all international competitions, all signs are still pointing at him being our starting center. Again, one person here likes to give Thirdy an excuse for his subpar performance in the qualifiers and the Abdullah cup, citing inactivity due to injury. Why not give Ange the same benefit of the doubt, when it has been 7 months since he played a competition. And he didn't do too badly in the Abdullah cup except for his one on one post defense on Al Dwahiri. And just discounting his good performance against Ratliffe and Boban.

Kai isn't ready for big minutes as seen on his play on the NBL. The more he plays the less effective he becomes. Especially with limited rest between games. It's better to have a reliable backup whether its Ange or whoever.

lol its gonna happen, calling it now

Funny thing is that a commenter on YouTube asked this during Spin.ph’s interview with Chot. Regarding playing a 6’2 SF.

Chot being Chot reacted immaturely.
