some of the cadets not available either due to UAAP/NCAA commitment (locked in their respective bubbles) or in abroad (Japan boys, Kai etc)

I see. But they should use the former Gilas cadets if possible. Go and his batchmates should be available. Actually I think SBP owes the Filipino a better explanation on why they replaced Tab. Tab focusing on Ateneo should not fly given this is the Philippine national team we are talking about. It should be more important than a school. If it is indeed the exodus of the National players to international leagues then they should give a better offer. It is the result of having internationally competitive players. They will have demand from international leagues. They should blame Tab for developing these guys to international levels and nothing else. Or are we happy to have pang-PBA lang na mga players? We want undersized defensively deficient players so they won't be picked internationally? They want Balti to put on 60 lbs and be an immovable object in the paint in the PBA instead of the closest thing we will have to LBJ? Yes, just so he goes to the PBA and not international leagues. What shortsighted assholes.

Local leagues should evolve to survive. If they go the route of Euro league and develop young players they should.

Philippine basketball stakeholders seem to want to put our basketball back to the stone ages to protect their own basketball interests. It doesn't matter that Philippine basketball will suck as long as it is their own and not anybody else. They won't let Philippine basketball develop if they can't benefit from it. Too bad for the players. Too bad for Philippine basketball.

Yes, lame duck president Al Panlilio should better explain the reasonings behind the backward steps. Sa social media post lang ni Chot, he said he was called into a meeting with MVP, Al and Ricky Vargas, saying Tab resigned, and he was offered the job. He cant say no daw when youre called to serve the country and all that shit.

Could have been worse.

If not Chot, they would have went with Yeng again. The latter is a bigger idiot than the former.

I don't think it was only a coaching problem. With the way things are going, it looks to me like a player availability problem too.

They UAAP players won't be available. Probably the UAAP teams will be holding on to their star players because look what happened to Ateneo with Dwight

For me , maybe there is a different story that some of the Gikas players last year does not want to play. It is just speculation, for me, but maybe it more like a silent protest after what had happened to Coach Tab, stepping down.

Do we have some amateur players who are on the same level as Dwight in the UAAP? I feel like he's more of an exception because he's IMO above the everyone else in the league and staying there would just hold him back.

Hmmmm. I am assuming you mean gilas eligible uaap players.

1. Dwight

Gap

2. Tamayo/Baltazar
3. Quiambao
4. Cortez
5. Dave Ildefonso (?)

Maybe Kyle Gamber if he plays in uaap. And he is eligible.

Not familiar with others. But They are the one cross my minds immediately.

Forgot that Balti returned to play another year. But yeah there's a good gap there. Balti yeah but probably won't be as productive as Dwight. He looks like a high level role player at best. Tamayo might need some more seasoning. Dave might be Div 2 level ATM. The other 2 I'm doubful. And DLSU will definitely block any poaching attempt

This 23 for ‘23 is more of chot’s media publicity.
At the end of the day, he would rely more on the PBA players to take the roster spot.
SBP will always get used to the PBA politics and will never learn how to grow and promote basketball development.

No thirdy? I guess ray park would not play for chot’s.
Castro is too old. We need real shooter here, Matt and pogoy were inconsistent in fiba international tournaments.

Has Chot announced a pool? Where did you get this list?

The PBA players part is what worries me. Giving roster spots to PBA players not only hurts our young guys' development, the PBA players might be worse fits internationally than Tab's amateur players. Like Chot's 3-guard lineups for example, or too many defensive liabilities on the team, or players who choke internationally.

This is very similar to what happened to the 3x3 team. The PBA interfered and look where that got us.

There is a big potetntial that we may have a limited audience come 2023 and become a colossal financial blunder (although its due to the things that are out of our and sbp's hands) for mvp.

The only PBA players I'm willing to consider are Erram, Oftana, MGR, Adams, Bolick, and Perez, as they can be assets in FIBA play.

I take back my inclusion of June Mar in the wishlist. I dunno if he can still contribute.
