So Tab/MVP to prioritize Ateneo before Gilas? Greg Slaughter all over again.haist.

WTF. I don't buy the alibi. Is Tab really on board with this? Preparing for a season that might be postponed or cancelled over GILAS?! That doesn't sound logical at all. Or maybe someone or some people would like to take over and bask in the spotlight?

The UAAP starts in March, at least only a few weeks after the windows. Preps can wait. Anak ng puta talaga.

Still think that the alibi is BS. No way he would give that up for a UAAP crown. Something is happening behind the scenes

Sana hindi karmahin si Chot at si MVP at matambakan ulit ng South Korea ang Gilas (trans: I hope Chot improves his horrendous defensive schemes and poop-like offense called "Do-or-Die Offense".

and the Gilas training could have doubled as a training camp for Ateneo since the core of the Gilas team is the Blue Eagles, hay, galawang long hair

Well as much as I would like them to get what they deserve it would still be painful for me to see our country get humiliated again in the hardcourt. I pray to God he learned from his past mistakes

Okay i accept Coach Tab step down maybe he has really has personal issues that was not mentioned. But why Coach chot? not foreign coach or Coach Uichico.

I still dont want gilas to lose but if its Coach Chot the panic and drama queen, it looks like its inevitable. Okay i accept Coach Tab step down maybe he has really has personal issues that was not mentioned. But why Coach chot? not foreign coach or Coach Uichico.

Coach Jong may still be recovering from sickness.

But I agree, The reactions will not be like this.

IF COACH TAB IS REPLACED BY ANOTHER EUROPEAN COACH.

Instead, we went back to Coach Chot.

I only know two words why this happened :

"Tactical Immature". (You already know what I mean)

Gilas Success in 2023 WC will be credited in a filipino pba coach. Hays.

No, this will not be successful with a Filipino coach? Why? Because he has no idea how to properly use those players. PBA players, whom Chot accustomed to, are severely undersized against World teams.

Yeah. hays

I will still support the team.

I hope still for the best.

Wala naman tayo magagawa. We can jist be frustrated.

So, no choice, but to give coach chot another chance.

It is what it is. What’s important is that the players that the coach wants will all be made available, there’d be enough preparation and the team gets the NP that fits best the needs of the national team.

That's the #1 problem. I don't think there will be.

just let them lose big the way Yeng lost bigtime in 2019. mukhang kulang pa para magising.

Oh yes, i remember Coach Jong got sick. Well i think fans will not be this angry if the replacement coach was not Coach Chot. It should have been a foreign coach(Dickels?) or maybe innovative local coach like Coach Ayo. Well, we shall see. I saw some changes from Coach chot last Philippine cup in PBA, less drama and complain and more reserve but still the dreaded small ball system and over reliance on dribble drive.

What made you think so? Maybe they already have plans

That's what I was thinking. They'll lend all the players GILAS needs on the condition that Chot replaces Tab. So the team would be mostly made up of PBA players with maybe Dwight/JC/ Kai under a Filipino PBA champion coach.

Noli Eala, after the PHL Womens Football Team qualified for World Cup (coached by an Aussie)

To paraphrase:

There should be no problem hiring foreign coaches as they show results where it matters, the W column.

"Hidilyn Diaz has a Chinese coach. EJ Obiena has a Ukrainian coach. Caloy Yulo has a Japanese coach. Our Olympic boxers have an Australian coach. Gilas has a Kiwi-American coach (spoke too soon on this one). Any doubt that foreign coaches have a place for Phl athletes?"

In the context of basketball, it doesn't matter as there is too much politics at play.

There's no point getting a foreign coach if he can't get the players he wants.

It's been a problem since the Gilas I days with Toroman way back in 2009.

I hope both Baltazar and Tamayo will be retained, along with Ramos. Sayang yung progress e. Kai, i think he'll benefit the most with this sudden change. Another question is, what happens to Kouame now

I also hope they don't replace the wings like Navarro. He'll be crucial to our defense and switchability. Also, Oftana could be useful.

The must-keep players here are Baltazar, Tamayo, Dwight, Kai, and Navarro. Oftana should be added as well if we're to get PBA players. The former four are core pieces, while the latter two provide depth at the wing so we won't have to see ao many three-guard lineups.

I have a feeling oftana will take Navarro's spot. Not sure if he's as good a defender but, offensively, he's an upgrade

Oftana has guarded 2s and 3s, but I don't think he's quite at Navarro's level defensively. I do agree with the offense, though. But still, we need depth at the wing for 2023 if we are to have a better chance defensively.
