Who would be your Picks? NO explanation...

Hmm.. Just to clarify it's not my preference but more likely

Kiefer
Thirdy
Ramos
Clarkson
Kouame ( do note the special assistant to Al, Gregorio picked him and Clarkson as his dream 5 (I see one of them getting exempted)
AJ
KAI
Troy (can never have enough length and shooters - even if he just plays a bench role
Kobe (I've seen players take a turn when coached by Tab

I'm unsure really of the rest, I imagine a pure shooter being added (Tuffin, Bulanadi, 1GDL? B
Parks to me fits, I just have a strange feeling on how Tab views him

No discredit to Oftana, I just haven't seen enough of him
Not sure Baltazar will be available full time which is a deal breaker
Won't be surprise if Go included for his attitude as well as Matt Nieto (11th, 12th men - not suggesting they're talented

I've got a feeling a big forward ineligible player will be added (one of these fil foreigners are bound to be included - don't know who yet

Sorry I don't have a definite list (daya I know)

Of course this is under the assumption Tab is still program director
BTW speaking of Tab learned something new with how hhe thinks, - there is no difference between a SG and SF, so if MJ is his choice as best SG it is also his choice for best SF! In other words JC is our best SF as well as SG

What would actually be good to predict is who will make the final 12 for 2023?
So for fun go, predict who?
Note this isn't a vote of preference but who is likely to make the final 12

If were talking about the likely final 12...then of course it will be Tab's favourites....most likely Ateneo and MVP group

Thirdy
Ramos
Kiefer
Pogoy
Troy
Navarro
Eram
Ildefonso
Kai
Edu (exception to the Ateneo /MVP link)
Kouame / Clarkson (exception to the Ateneo /MVP link)
maybe Parks if he has not been traded yet

Hmmmm who is LIKELY Final 12 in 2023

Shooin because of absence of Competition

1.Kai ( No Competition on his position)(Assuming there will be no newly discovered generational eligible big)
2.AJ (No Competition on his position)(Assuming there will be no newly discovered generational eligible big)
3. Kouame (If exempted)
3.JMF ( Veteran Big, leadership)(If Kouame is not exempted)

Tab Favorites

4. Thirdy
5. Dwight
6.Nieto
7.Troy

Because of needed length

8. Kobe Paras
9. Dave Ildefonso
10. Ray Parks

Guards (Very tough to choose)

11. Dalph Panopio (Tab is high on him)
12 Remy if eligible, if not then 1gdl

Naturalized Player
Clarkson OR Cmac ( I will remove Troy or Nieto for the NP slot) ( But I dont know who will Coach tab cut in his favorites)

Reserves
Tuffin (Actually, he can replace parks or kobe
Bulanadi
Anonuevo
Tamayo (Very hard for me to cut him, but he is not tabs favorite)
Quiambao ( Very hard for me to cut him, but he is not tabs favorite)

The question is who is most LIKELY final 12. Or is simple terms, Likely Coach Tab preference of Final 12 ( Assuming he is still the director)

Same lang Tayo except that baltazar.. I don't know if he's considering gilas, but I think junmar will be there.. sentimental favorite Kasi sya eh.. baka magwala buong basketball community if he's not there.. a PBA GOAT is not in the final line up? That's a shame... Even not a fan of his style of game eh I still respect him..

It depend on his condition or lack of it come 2023....If he recovers from his injury and he game does not regress in 2023 he should be in...

That's why for me he is the next RDO clone, I see some similarities between them.. I hope he shouldn't finish his full term in UP and go outside the country.. Wala talaga ako tiwala kay Bo as his coach... sayang potential if he's in the wrong person..

Perasol will allow him to play outside.

And yes, I hope he can consider going outside the Philippines. If he's good enough after a couple years, he has to consider exploring other options. Plus, I wouldn't wanna leave the other players to just go to waste in Team Balara.

Second guessing Tab's 12 to me is just a game of predictions. We aren't even sure how much of the choices will be from him and how much of it will come from the Headcoach himself. I'm more interested to to see each one's personal choices

Katuwaan lang bro... Maybe a Prize for someone who get all the 12 in 2023..Aside of course for bragging rights of seeing in from his magic ball

Well, if one gets exactly the same 12, i won't mind donating a good portion of a month's salary for his prize. Very tough one to make, yeah, deserves a prize

Yah exactly..Coreectly predicting the Perfect 12 , three years before it happens is a feat... Maybe we can have a contribute some amount like(1,000/5,000) as pot money and whoever's who gets perfect 12 ,gets it all

I’m willing to chip in but I wouldn’t bother “submitting an entry”. Analyzed should give some as well the fact that he started it, if it’s ok with him. I volunteer to handle the fund until pay time. Lol

Hahahaha. I will not join in the bet. What happens if no one got it. Haha.

That is close to imposibble to guess.

Why????

Because I feel in 2023, we will discover more eligible ready players. And some "lessen" of Hagop rules.

That said , I am willing to bet that Kai and AJ will be in final 12 of 2023.

The only problem is Injuries.

Yes it's like sports betting in Las Vegas, it's all about probability (likely hood of happening) rather than preference

BTW speaking of Tab learned something new with how hhe thinks, - there is no difference between a SG and SF, so if MJ is his choice as best SG it is also his choice for best SF! In other words JC is our best SF as well as SG

In also means are SG should be able to defend FIBA SF and vise versa SF need speed of to switch defend SG(all important switchability or else it's hard to get PT)

Not suprising JC, Thirdy, Dwight are likely SG/SF wings

Which is seperate from combo guards.

Classic Definition of Sg and SF are

SG - Best Scorer in the team
SF - Most Versatile Player in the team

Well, if you have a player that can do both roles, then he is 2/3(You call it swing?), But they cannot playmake as good as the point guards

If you have two players of that kind with enough height 6'6, then it will be great.

Combo guards are different. It is 1/2. Can playmake and score. For ex. Alex Cabagnot is a combo guard. Jason Castro is a combo guard. Bit they cannot play wing.

I'm intrigue with the big Forward ineligible who would it be? Quintin Millora Brown, Orme-Malonzo , Christian David?

Like combo forward is way different from a swingmen - he is 3/4. They might undersized to play the 4 or too slow to play the 3 but has the qualities of both forward positions (e.g. RDO, Troy, Kobe, WillNav).

Again value is when you can guard multiple positions, switchiness. This will keep you on the court. So if you're a wing and have the length to guard SF as well as the speed to guard shooting guards you will play. That is why Kobe can't play as wing in FIBA, can't guard, SGs, too slow

This is a big issue with us right now. Most of our players are too used to guarding just their position. Classic basketball. Coaches have to train their players on the value of switchability.

These are various hybrid positions in basketball:

Combo guard - Players that can play both 1/2 positions

Swingman - Players that can play 2/3 positions

Combo forward - Players that can play 3/4

Bigman - Players that can play 4/5

Stretch 4/shooting forward - Players that play the 4 with shooting like those of the 2.

Point forward - Players that play either or both 3 or 4 point positions but has the capability to play the 1.

Stretch 5 - Players that play the 5 but has shooting capability.

Unicorn - Players that play the bigman (4/5) but has guard abilities.

BTW this discussion on predicting likely 2023 players to be selected is also useful as it explains the logic on why Tab would possibly select player in the final 12.

Take for example Matt and Go as possible 11th and 12th men, these are glue locker room guys, and will do exactly what Tab want of them, as they understand what is expected of their role (even if it is a cheerleader like Myles Leonard and not complain)

Here is another example, if there are plans to get an exemption for Kouame, then you can see the logic to use NP role on SG/SF Clarkson, instead on a 5/4 NP

Also the logic on having length in the backcourt. As well as wings who can defend both SG and SF (Thirdy, Dwight)

As well as 4s who can guard stretch 4s (Kobe, Troy)

I have a feeling though that Tab will be replaced before 2023 and as such the final line-up in 2023 will not be the same players that Tab will likely choose. I think Tab will be replaced by a filipino but they will get an experienced international coach.
