Yes thats what I noticed recently. I was watching past PBA games and it just doesn’t have the same feel as an NBA game. The flow, momentum is just way too different. The movement of some players look like they haven’t been stretching. Watch Troy Rosario, Kobe Paras and Benjie Paras they all run the same. They run awkwardly. Then you see guys like Terrence Romeo, James Yap takbong mayaman lagi. Even guys like Pingris takbong gigil. One of our homegrown players that moves the best is actually Castro.

The athleticism just isn't the same. The skills and flair players play with feels NBA like, but the speed and hops are noticeably not as good as the NBA. Also don't know about Benjie, but Troy and Kobe run like they are constipated, I think it might have to do with their hip flexors?

Ive thought this before but Kobe kind of moves like Blake Griffin, but Blake is 6'10

Tamayo playing against his agemates, while Rosario playing against big boys.. stupid comparison though.. Rosario's advantage over Tamayo is the former already played in Tab/Dickel system while Tamayo is not yet.. Rosario knows what Tab/Dickel runs and They (Tab/Dickel) have only little adjustment only.. but i hope that Tamayo will be included in future Gilas pool, Unfortunately he's still 20 years old and He's not yet allowed to join any trainings/scrimmages under government protocols/guidelines.. Maybe he should go first to US for advance training, since unlike here eh he can play/training there...

Do You need to use that word just to defend your statement? Just asking.
Easy to say as if UP would allow him to train overseas for development sake( assuming covid-free)

At his age (Castro), He's still the fastest guard in the PBA.. faster even against young players in the Philippines.. Even he can outrun Mark Nonoy.. If his team before (Singapore Slingers) not back out in the Australia NBL, I think he have a chance to be scout overseas, including the NBA..

Personally I think Mark Nonoy is just as fast as Castro, if not faster

This guy should be the prototype our young forwards should emulate, and is doable if one is standing 6’ 5” to 6’ 8”. The kid stands 6’ 9” but since we are naturally smaller in stature, I’m not that optimistic our guys his height (Kemark Carino, Pangalangan, et al) could reach such level in terms of skill level (agility, coordination comes to play).

Player to watch ito in the future: Deni Avdija (6’ 9” sf/pf)

In other words Castro still can play at high level at his age (34), while some of his batchmates (Norwood, Dillinger, Mercado) are already look like past of their primes.. That is the discipline that younger players should look at.. That's why i'm disappoint on what Vic Manuel statement about the food saga.. Eating nutritious food is very important in any athletes.. Not like eating Galunggong, tuyo, siomai is already OK for them.. If you are professional athlete, you must also be professional picking of your eating nutritious foods.. Di yung sobrang mamantika or no substance.. Look at Beau Belga.. He can't even play throughout after 15 mins straight.. Even him (Vic Manuel), he can't play longer minutes because he's OK enough with Galunggong eh..

He's still quick but he isn't as reckless as before. That's what every basketball player should be doing. Preserving their bodies and expanding their game. Using their head more instead of their muscles.

I like how this kid plays. Athletic, competitive, and smart. He was a Eurobasket U19 MVP. He's on my draft wishlist for the Bulls.

As for our bigger forwards emulating him, that will happen more with newer coaches who understand the modern international game. A generational shift.

Center - Kai and AJ

International 4 - Kobe and Troy

Taller wing - Clarkson and Dwight

Wing /guard - CJ, Thirdy

PG- Kiefer. (with our taller wings being secondary playmakers)

9 man rotation - the normal FIBA 40 min game rotation

This is the true current reality, not fantasy vision of what can possibly be

We better not hold our breath for CJ being “at our disposal”. Me asterisk yan as there was this very loud whispers he was about to “get bought” before the pandemic.

His mother did track and his was a Serbian basketball player

Speaking of Avdija looks like he is training at TSF https://www.instagram.com/p/CEdHUMujpwB/?hl=en

Well you’re in luck. He should still be right there at the 4th pick. But if teams have wisen up on the Luka tragedy (Bagley, Ayton would be lucky to achieve franchise player status), this guy should be in the mix with Ball, Wiseman and Edwards.

Stupid comparison?LOL!! So Carl didn't play against big boys in his age group? And Troy didn't played against players in 27-29 age range?

There is a reason why Navarro and sometimes Thirdy play 4, while Maagdenberg sometimes plays 5. It really is the smart and effective thing to do

At least Maagdenberg won't be easily exploited for his lack of height due to his heft. Still, it won't hurt Tab to make him more versatile on D. He's got a good motor.

At least even in this current reality lineup, many players are switchable. We may need a pool of more players if their than this, though. Contingency plans.

Ganito lang dapat. Translation: Nothing fancy. Instead, solid fundamentals. That was so fluid to look at...!

One of the characteristics that makes Adjiva special and why he is getting to Luka Doncic comparisons is because he is a point forward. It’s tough to produce locally because guys past 6’6 are rarely if ever give ball handling duties. Only point forward in uaap I can think of is Torculas and he’s only 6’4.

For the nba Adjiva will probably play pf

Comparing level of tournament is not the gauge of performance of these players.. So it means Kai Sotto now is better than Junmar because Kai has a good run in FIBA U19 WC while Fajardo failed to perform in last WC.. invalid statement though...

The conversation is about who is the better fit in international basketball and not who is the better player now. And also if you can be competitive in your age group then there is a big possiblity that you can also be competitive in the men's competition maybe after 4-5 years..

Bro its in the quality...The quality of players in Age group competition is different Seniors even if they are of same age.m

In future.. YES.. But not today!!! Tamayo should need exposure first.. Troy can teach Tamayo naman.. It's better to have them both.. but Troy is our first choice stretch 4 today (Edu only available after US NCAA stint).. Troy still on his prime in 2023 at age of 30.. Tamayo will have time.. But i want him to be included in World Cup qualifiers next year.. For development purposes..

As I said, this thread is about possible lineup for 2023 and not who is the better player today. Also I stated who is for me the better fit for international 4 position and not who is the better player between Carl and Troy right now..

If Tamayo should do this one.. Ang kaso he pick UP.. and Bo (bakit sya pa?) will handle Tamayo.. Good luck with that..

He could probably have D1 offer after the u19 stint bUt his handlers maybe choose to not disclose it in public.
