As long as the coach and patron of the national teams are Ateneans (and the patron himself supports their college team as well), DLSU will never “cooperate”.

It’s a freakin conflict of interest. Find another coach and patron not connected to Ateneo. Better yet, form a body that handles the NT selection for both players and coaches.

Its not everyday you'll find a guy "willing" to shelve out billions for the national team and if you're repping the flag there is no conflict of interest.

It's six years from now, so maybe Ricci will have graduated and pried himself lose from the DLSU /SMC empire.

Oh, shit. I just realized what happens if AJ winds up playing for La Salle?

yup AJ. the point is that ricci will be part of the training pool.but dlsu dont want.

I'm also curious why Chot et al included Rike in this training pool. If I'm not mistaken, he is already a senior (or graduate?) at Wake Forest but never had any impact on that team. While it may be that he could be a decent PBA player due to his NCAA experience, I don't think he is NT-material. Also, I brought up his name here a few years ago but some members replied that he may not be Hagop-eligible. If this is true and Chot et al included him despite this, I think it would be better to get Brandon Rosser who is also not Hagop-eligible (though I really think that we can have case for dispensation for Brandon Rosser). At least he is getting a lot of minutes in UC Riverside.

Be that as it may, FIBA 2023 is still more than 5 years away so a lot of things can happen.

Watched Chot's interview in SportsCenter PH and he confirmed that DLSU has requested not to include any DLSU players on the list. #GalawangSMC

would that statement alienate dlsu more?since basically he is putting dlsu in a bad light?

so some dlsu alumnis here can finally understand why some of us here doesn’t want aj edu ended up playing in dlsu? ricci rivero not included in the pool is perfect example..

Regardless of the motive and reason for Lasale management to request that Gilas not name their players to the Gilas pool, this decision obviously does not favour Lasale recruiting prospects who want to play for Gilas (Edu).
Will leave it for another day, but have first hand experience in being denied request for NT duties for future lasalle players
If you only knew the stories

I wonder what ricci feels and thinking right now... he was denied to represent the country multiple times now...

Story needs to be told.

have you seen him play close up? if not, that's probably the same reason he's included in the pool.... yup, training pool, not final lineup!

Chot still in love with midget basketball. Tsk tsk

Well, Chot is working his PR "magic". It's like him criticizing his own players to motivate them. He's definitely saying that to put DLSU in a bad light (which he should) to pressure them to release their players.

And here I was hoping to see the older members of this pool + Ricci Rivero in next year's Asian Games and the 2019 SEA Games.

The new 23-man pool might actually be bigger than Gilas 1.0, with a much more refined skillset. You have a 6'7" PF who can shoot threes, a 6'10" version of Japeth who can dribble and shoot, a designated rim protector who stands 6'8" (and actually led the FIBA U18 tournament in blocks), and arguably the best big man prospect since Fajardo. As for the wings, I'm quite high on Tolentino who, despite his limitations on defense, is a much better scorer than Baracael.

^
Actually this pool coud be the talest Philippine national team pool of at least 23 players that we've had , the other thing is they're assigned to their natural postion, not like stating Troy Rosario or Jun Limpot is a natural small forward wing.

Perez and bolick seems taller than thirdy so thirdy might just be 6'0 to 6' 1 only. And tratter is below 6'5.
