I think analyzed was just talking about the "possibility" that Harris may have applied for a Qatari passport prior to his 16th birthday, then after so many years have past, it's only now that Harris got his Qatari passport which makes him eligible to play for Qatar as a local player.

So please tell us analyzed/D'Admiral, when does the good fairy come in?

I am looking for the reason how Lewis and Harris were able to play at the same time. Not necessarily to say that it is wrong but how they managed to do that.

We all know the reasons for the exemptions of Abasi, Jawato, Newsome, Lamb, Morgan and Lish. So I want to know the reason how they where able to do this.

I think Lewis is Qatar's naturalized player while Harris may have been declared as a local player (for whatever reason).

May I ask to those in the know, is this already the new South Korean national team or this is just a cadet or developmental team? Would the old reliables be back for South Korea in future windows & tournament proper?

Australia is really overpowering everyone in Asia, even without their NBA and Euroleague players.

With Bahamas I recalled it’s been discussed here before. All of their players has some Bahamian heritage including their NP (Eric Gordon) last Olympic qualifiers. Bahamas is considered by FIBA as under-developed in terms of grassroot basketball development hence special considerations were accorded to their federation. Inasmuch, Bahamas is a cricket country and a newbie in terms of international basketball outside Caribbean zone. Ayton, Hield, young sensation Edgecombe, Tavario Miller were all born in the islands…

speaking of Klay Thompson he had expressed his desire to play for Bahamas, his dad’s Mychal birth country. Yes nationality switch is the the route for him. However he need a release papers from US Basketball which I believe maybe given to him. But again him and Gordon can’t play the same time as they are both NP…. Ang Qatar lang ang pwede gumawa ng ganyang magic…:eek:

it is a young national team mostly in their mid-20s, most of their veterans are always injured

They missing some key players like Yeo Junseok, their USNCAA player. Also they don't have NP yet. But yeah, this is their team A already, but in rebuilding mode. They have their arguably best local player in the team already in Lee Hyun Jung who's playing in NBL Aus.

Is Lee Hyun Jung the same player that played for Korea in 2021 where his team got beaten twice by our all-amateur Gilas team handled by coach Tab Baldwin?

He was such a very promising player back then.

Lebanon showed everybody in the 2022 FIBA Asia Cup that Australia's national team B is beatable. Lebanon was just a luck away from beating the Boomers in the finals game of that tournament.

I think a Gilas team with at least 4 weeks of full time training has a good chance of upsetting an Australian team B in next year's FIBA Asia Cup.

Yes. Plays for Illawarra Hawks here in NBL. He's doing well here in NBL.

No one is suggesting Harris acted on his own initiative to apply for Qatar Citizenship before 16, neither is it likely that his passport was process to completion until recently ( as such he hasn't played for Qatar until recently) .
This just goes to show you that their are ways of taking advantage of FIBA eligibility system if you strategically look for loopholes to game the system legally to one's advantage.
It obviously helps that Qatar is financially rich to pay legal experts as well as has the authority to amend their immigration laws to grant citizenship for whatever reason ( this is all legal as countries to have their own independence to make their own laws). Remember Qatar has a pathway of granting citizenship based on sports reasons.

They might have that capabilities to do that but Harris? You can't fool anyone here.. You can search his career and professional life and you will not see him having any connections, either birth, raised, reside or even travel to Qatar before last year... Did you search where he played before?

His background connections to Qatar is irrelevant as we all know it's none existing, it's documentation to support his processing of passport was before 16 yrs old, it isn't beyond Qatar to do have arranged for this way in advance many years ago ( as it arranged for naturalization for other foreigners below U16 previously). , obviously paper work processing isn't disclosed publicly as these are private records ,

as much as we questioned FIBA''s decision on every exemption they handed per country e.g. Qatar, Bahamas, Nigeria to name a few.

I think our NF should concentrate more in establishing strong "domestic connection" to all our ineligibles who had a strong chance to get exempted moving forward.

aside from playing in the "domestic league" e.g. varsity, amateur and eventually going professional is one of the strong merit but I think" the final nail of the coffin" for this

is to "encourage" them to use their "rights of suffrage as a Filipino",

we all know it is literally written in our constitution these thing alongside the naturalized papers of AK34, JB and other athletes from the other discipline.

the word "political rights" are inscripted on all pertinent documents related to that.

now if the SBP people decided to submit documents of those ineligible Filipinos including AK34 for possible exemptions to the technical committee which I think was still(?)

headed by a Filipino lawyer from our NF.

providing an official photocopy that the said person(s) are participating on all local and national election as part of his/her political rights

is indeed a strong evidence that the person(s) has a "strong domestic connection" aside from playing in their respective domestic league.

The Sec Gen will surely not questioned nor further object on this

Guam is a talented team.. they just need a real coach and a legit PG to be competitive in Asia..

So Tyler Harris is classified as local for Qatar. He said that he has been in Qatar for 5 years. I want to dig more.

I laughed when it was Jericho Cruz who crafted their last play. Says alot about their coach.

Japan, without their NBA players, is a 50/50 for Guam. South Korea is a question mark.

China, Gilas (with Kai and AJ), NZL, Australia and West Asians (Lebanon, Iran and Jordan) are the possible teams where Guam will probably struggle.

i don’t have issues with Bahamas and Nigeria as their players has legit heritage links with their countries. It’s Qatar that concerns me…

That's what we have to acknowledge, many know very little exactly on what the basis of Harris exemption, we don't know his records ( not referring to his playing history), but his actual immigration application record history, this has noting to do with Qatar connections , but legal documentation.

China smashed Guam last time... Maybe Guam can match up against teams that smaller than them.. they can hang on vs Lebanon, Jordan, Iran, Korea and might be better than KSA, Kazakhstan.. they are on Taipei's level.. they just need to hire better coach.. they might be upset by either Thailand or Indonesia if the former will prepare long.. Jonathan Galloway and Earnest Ross are High level Asian talent players, but their bench are sucks... And you are right, Ben Borja should play here to gain more experience.. maybe a MPBL stint will do for him..

one does not need to have connections to a country for authorities to process ones citizenship.
note one does not need to leave the US, for Qatar officials to process one's passport
Qatar is a state that imports its population , incliding athletes.
