Philippines is red hot, Japan is exciting but imo now, Lebanon is the gold standard of asian basketball.. Tim Cone trying to copy the core blue print of Lebanon.. same players.. spellman in his best shape ever. Arakji in his peak physically and mentally

"Spellman" and "best shape" in the same sentence is a weird flex. LOLz

you might forgot we have several division 1 school players whom played in mid major schools and avg. around jarin Stevenson (for now) but they made an impact on our team (ramos, edu).. and soon QMB

Surely Jarin Stevenson will make an impact with Koreans and among the 3, jarin plays in high major conference (SEC)..

That's now on player's determination if they want to be successful ballers whatever where they play...

That's not funding issues.. some countries don't want to go in Tehran due to political issues...

That's on FIBA.

If the country is really unstable, they should just change the venue to a neutral one.

I still don't get why FIBA doesn't understand Tehran isn't a stable place.

Dangerous only for US and its allies. Kazakhstan is not a US Ally, nor a poor country. Must be something else. Kazakhstan's muslim population is Sunni, while Iran is Shia. They dont get along. Just my guess.

Vice versa, while in the Philippines its more tribal between Muslims.

I was waiting for the game between Iran and Kazakhstan in my Pilipinas Live then it suddenly disappeared.

They should have gone to stream the India and Qatar. Looks like Qatar is having their 2000's team vibe out there.

Seriously, how Qatar was able to play two naturalized players at the same time? Harris and Lewis are obviously naturalized players. I did not include other Afro-Qataris and Euro-Qataris since I assume that they did able to secure Qatari passports before reaching 16 years old. Even the OS Basket, a Jordanian basketball page, was able to notice it.

OT: Just watch Qatar now, they field 2 Americans on the same floor.. Tyler Harris and Mike Lewis are both US born players... How FIBA allowed this? Only 1 naturalized player can field per team...

Expect some clarity from Quinito Henson in a few days. My bet is that Tyler Harris had obtained Qatari citizenship prior to his 16th birthday, at least yun ang ipalabas ng mga Qatatis.

But come to think about it, Qatar with 2 world imports in Harris & Mike Lewis could only beat India by 16 pts. Qatar led at half by only 5 pts & led by 11 pts going into the 4th quarter.

Qatar player 6-foot-11 Alen Hadzibegovic, who is of Montenegro descent, did not play in this game. Hadzibegovic used to play in Russia's div. 1 Pro league where he registered impressive stats.

But Hadzibegovic is obviously a recruit by Qatar in his teens so we can say that he is a local under FIBA. But Harris and Lewis are obviously world imports.

Yes, Hadzibegovic obtained Qatari passport prior to his 16th bday so he is considered by FIBA as a local player. He first represented Qatar in the 2017 FIBA Workd 3x3 U-18 Championship where Qatar won the gold medal. He has yet to play for Qatar in a 5 on 5 game.

Because they are stupid.. money matters for them.. they can't even stop Qatar by hiring multiple naturalized citizen in their team..

Many countries notice it.. even in Korean, Chinese and Japanese basketball sites posted it in their social media sites.. maybe now this team are not that good.. but I'm sure they have more players they can hired easily and make it a local player.. they also have 2 more Americans waiting in their pipeline.. don't be surprise in 2027, maybe half of their roster are Americans.. this is stupidity at its finest.. they can't allow our most of our fil foreign players to play as local even thou they are Filipinos by blood but this Qatari team easily put 2 Americans together even 1 NP is only allowed... Harris and Lewis only got their passports this year.. neither do residency for years to get exemption...

We are not fool.. Tyler Harris just enter Qatar by 2023 only.. played numerous leagues in Argentina, Russia, Romania, etc... he just got his passport this year and only allowed as naturalized player.. born in St Louis and raised in US.. Qatar thinks no one will notice this.. FIBA meanwhile, like FIFA they are corrupt and want that oil money from Qatar...

Is tyler harris the bro of tobias.. since tyler is qatari, we might as well see his bro in qatar by asia cup hehe

Having qatar as our groupmate come qualifiers might be a hanndy for us even with this tim.cone era..especially qatar where we cannot just finD mismatches on our guards..and brownlee will get beaten up by the bobo magassas

JAMSKIE mukhang magaling yun hadzibegovic

How is Qatar able to circumnavigate the Hagop rule, a rule that was supposed to target them? And FIBA is just turning a blind eye to Qatar's obvious tactics?

Money talks isnt stupid. Corrupt yes but not stupid

In terms of transparency and fairness to the tournament, yes they are stupid.. last decade they target them due to hiring non Qataris and propose the Hagop rule to prevent this situation and now they are the ones who allow them to put multiple imports to Qatar.. what's the sense of Hagop rule in the first place?

Qatar fielding in two illegals and they think the world wouldn't notice? I don't expect much from a country that basically practices modern slavery.

Yes, that Hadzibegovic guy is really very good. As I've said, he had impressive stats in div. 1 Russian pro league. We know how competitive Russia's div. 1 league is.
