Especially since they went through the trouble of getting exemptions for them so they could play as locals.

I don't know if they are going to use the same line-up against Indonesia on sunday. Maybe, Lamb and Morgan will play against Indonesia since it's more winnable than their game on thursday against Australia.

IMO, they should start scouting Taipei and Guam since these two will be their opponents most likely in the third placers' games.

Unless Alfrancis make him an offer he can't refuse. Lol

Maybe.. but money in Japan is too big for Long hair to compete.. they can ask the likes of Parks, Kai, Ramos or even Tamayo to play for SMC but you know how big their salaries they getting in Japan.. example Kiefer Ravena, his salary right now in B league is around 20k to 30k dollars per month.. that's huge.. that's basically around Junmar and Mikey's salary level.. Do you think SMC will give that salary for those players, especially they are not that loyal to companies? SMC only giving that salary range to those who are loyal to them...

Tyler Lamb is in Japan, I think he wants to focus in his pro league, that's why he's not there.. I don't know about Morgan, I have doubts Thailand will win vs Indonesia in Jakarta.. Indonesia will parade Anthony Beane, Brandon Jawato and Abraham Grahita...

Their line up improved a lot.. few years before, only Jakrawan their own big taller than 6'7.. now they have 3 6'8 guys but still not enough.. they need more international exposure...

Wild take: Thailand or Indonesia might recruit Chot Reyes as their coach someday. Lol

that means his backers and handlers are more creative than Mike Philipps'.. Or Mike, being a good law abiding , wants to do it the right way.

QMB's backer is most likely our DILG Secretary and the brother of our DOJ Secretary. Imagine how much power his backer has.

Or Remy and JC. Let's hope it's real magic and not recto magic

Sage too soon after he realizes how much $$ he can make in the PH.

We should make Sage earn his eligibility i feel like, once he gets the B League salary i have a feeling he'll go cold on Gilas duties

Webster in 2016 was a beast. No one from the Gilas guards can stay toe to toe with his guy, Parks and Ryan Reyes cannot contain him.

However, this will be a different story with Newsome and even Thompson can put the clamps on him and at the same time maybe this guy's game already declined.

Also, why no Tai Webster? Is he scared? Tinalo pa ni Kawamura mag NBA, I remember you were hyping this guy like he is the supposed to be next big thing.

Corey is now focused on coaching (like LA ) hasn't played a game since OQT in July.
Tai is no longer involved with Tall Blacks as well as Fotu, they've had a change, to newer players , last 2 years Shea Ili has been NZ MVP.
4 of 5 starters from OQT and WC are absent (Ili, TeRangi Delaney, Wetzell)
this is best opportunity to beat Nz while coach and new players are introduced . their 1 practice was in Manila yesterday, practicing in CCF today.
players to watch are 2 Sam's, Cameron and LeAfa
Nz strength is speed, (2nd in 2019 WC is scoring average) their bigs are essentially combo forwards

Remember in 2016 smaller forward Fotu and Vukona were matched up vs 7 foot Junmar and Blatche, Nz used speed , like they did to beat Croatia in OQT last July. The way to beat NZ is via speed like Korea does.

This is a CJ game then

Korean speed is via pass , ball movement not speed of the dribble , also you need space the floor with shooters to take advantage of speed .
essentially key to match up well vs Tall Blacks isnt via height, but to keep at pace with them laterally and full court in transition

With Corey Webster imminent retirement, will play 3 more games to reach 100 game milestone caps. NZ needs to find its next go to scorer. Potential prospects are
Mojave King - NZ Breakers
Taine Murray- Virginia
Hayden Jones - U17 nz Wc 4th place

Nz fanboys are still trying to project that this is NZ team B or C when it is so obvious that this is their best team. NZ NBL players didnt make the cut on the main NBL league. Illli winning MVP isnt really commendable. Also, majority of current rosters were NBL starters.

Even if they were to bring someone like Tofu, he would likely be a non-factor. It seems New Zealand fanboys are still stuck in a small-ball mentality, even as the basketball world is shifting towards tall-ball strategies. While some NBA teams continue to use spread offense, their players are significantly taller and more versatile than gsw small ball era.

Let us stop the BS and admit that this is NZ team A against team A Gilas without Edu, balti/heading. I really hope that Gilas would play great tomorrow.

Edu should try to get as much money as he can before his body gives up completely. His knees are so laughably weak. His latest injury wasn't even a contact injury.

Included in Qatar's 15-man pool in the 2nd window is 6-foot-11 power forward Alen Hadzibegovic who was Qatar's superstar player in its 3x3 Under-18 team that won the World U-18 3x3 championship in 2017. I think Hadzibegovic has the makings of an elite Asian big man. He averaged like 13 ppg in the div. 1 pro league in Russia. We all know how high the level of competition is in Russia. I think Hadzibegovic would be a big help for the struggling Qatar team which hasn't figured that well in Asian basketball in the last 8 years or so.
