Original post of onesports included pogoy in the pool replacing kai. But it was edited and kai is included again

We have a luxury of bigmen with the current pool of players. Gone are the days when we are scarce on that category.

2 key points Gilas should watch out for vs Tall Blacks 1. Defending stretch bigs Waardenberg and Manenga .(You can't put a center on either), don't be fooled despite both being 6'9 plus they're not centers , they are forwards
2. Keeping rebounder of the board s includes big physical guards Cemeron and Harris

The Tall Blacks actually match up better vs tall traditional teams, as their strength is really pace and space

Don't try to match up vs them based on height , but match up based on speed

As weird as it may seem I would put starting PG (Thompson?) on 6'8 Harris . And maybe Brownlee if he plays on 6'10 forward Waardenberg (NZ best scorer)

Harris a none shooter actually brings up the ball and facilitates ala Dreynond
Guards LeAfa and Corey Webster play of the ball.

NZ runs alot of GET actions , sumailr to Golden state

If we're going to field Ange Kouame against Hong Kong to give JB some rest, I don't think it's a good idea. Let JB get his rhythm against Hong Kong first. Baka mangapa pa kung kelan against New Zealand na, but hey a rest is a rest still.
NZ's the first game on the 21st. Hong Kong will be on the 24th.

I have a feeling JB would be our naturalized player for the New Zealand game, then it would be Ange Kouame for the Hongkong game to give JB a much needed rest.

As we can see, coach Tim have no problem including Angelo Kouame in the Gilas pool for the 2nd window. That's becoz Kouame had already played for Gilas under coach Tim in last year's Asian Games, hence the famiarity with the triangle offense & the defensive scheme of coach Tim.

That's why adding 2 new players in the current pool is going to benefit Gilas in the not so distant future. For instance if you add a Jordan Heading & a Kemark Carino (Justin Baltazar would be a better choice but I think SBP is not pleased with Balti) to the pool & have them soaked with the triangle offense & let them play against Hongkong which is a game that Gilas is going to win easily regardless of the line up, Heading & Carino are going to get familiar with coach Tim's system which will have future benefits. When the time comes that Junmar Fajardo & Chris Newsome retires from Gilas, Carino & Heading could be potential replacements & becoz Heading & Carino have already practiced, trained & played with Gilas, the transition won't be that difficult becoz familiar na sila sa system ni coach Tim.

Parang investment yan eh. You invest now for future usage.

Im curious to include Ange instead of JB for this window, JB looks winded

Despite the bad start to the game in HK, the fact is HK is still a crap team and playing them at MoA means they can afford to rest Brownlee and some of the big men while guys like Japeth who normally will look bad against world class teams will cook and eat this HK team like roasted goose. I got no issues with the fifteen.

Kai
fajardo
Aguilar
Edu
Tamayo
Brownlee
Quiambao
Ramos
Oftana
Newsome
Thompson
Perez

Wins versus new zealand. There you go.

Heading provides shooting and an initiator, as well as an ability to at least stay in front of his man. Carino (and maybe Balti) provides an additional interior defender, an emergency in case AJ and Kai miss big games, or if none of them are on the floor. Both guys fill holes, in addition to being under 30 (Heading's 28, Carino's 26).

And Heading said that Cone contacted him for this past OQT, but he had to turn it down. Carino's in the PBA and has shown good defensive instincts and timing, despite being a bit of a liability offensively.

HK also doesn’t have a legit big other than Reid.

Ange and Edu combination would be an interesting one.

Good Day Sir sroth,

just for discussion sake.for a casual fan's eye sight

having Kai-Ange-Edu-Brownlee-Ramos as a starting 5 that's a deliciously meaty stuff out there

against the likes of Tall Black Team A, AUS Team A and JAP Team A in a sanctioned FIBA event

is an aspiration we were waiting in the immediate future

but yeah..Ange and Edu combo against HK would be really, really interesting

let's see.

And with Heading in Converge, His possible stint to Gilas might be done already.. Gov Pineda and SBP bosses are not in good terms...
