Guys, judging from how the two teams played in the 1st window, who do you between Gilas & New Zealand would win if they are pitted against each other right now?

For me, if we want to start beating New Zealand, the best time will be on November. I believe that we have a system and the players are vying to it. Size and talent will not be the issue but the players' commitment to integrate on Tim's system.

I see New Zealand winning over Gilas but in a very close contest.

we need both aj edu and kai against the kiwis, and cone must consider a natural point guard in lieu of perez and will navarro or abando should get malonzo's slot

a natural point guard that does not get easily rattled and willing to take the physicality of a tall black guard.

Malonzo has history of having hanging out outside basketball related activities… remember his friends are? Mikey Williams… In Gilas, the only Fil-am outside of him is only Chris Newsome, but he’s too old for this and Dwight Ramos, but not a drinker (or maybe occasionally)... Brownlee also a matured guy outside the court.. the rest are pure locals… Malonzo should be careful… He’s representing Gilas… He represents our country, he should be a good role model… He can do this after Gilas duties and no one cares…

Sometimes having a reasonable friend or two to be with you who's the designated non drinking buddy will steer him out of trouble. What trouble me was the little man just the "N" word,it pisses me off as much as someone calling me a "Flip".

I guess we will split our series match vs NZL… of course they will probably win in their home but I see us win against them in our home… this is now the best chance to beat NZL… If Jordan can beat them, then why not us, right?

How about the other guy, was he sober? I mean even when drunk, a trained fighter can still throw solid punches.

Whatever started it, malonzo still has a case against the other guy for assault. Personally, if i was the guy and jm started it, i would just have let it go and be the better man. No use assualting a drunkard, and a known personality too. That's just trouble waiting to happen.

What ticks me off is no one is calling him out for dropping the "N" word to casually,Malonzo can also complain that it was a "hate crime".I would be curious if the courts will recognized it as so.

Curious if our big wins against Hong Kong and Taiwan have an impact in our FIBA ranking and, if there is, how high?

Just very little, since they both low level in terms of rankings, if we beat NZL (or either Latvia or Georgia in OQT) then our rankings will get higher since beating upper rank teams will get double rank points… Just look at SSD last World Cup, from 63 to 32 because they beating higher rank teams and Latvia from 26 to 8 place…maybe I expect we will be either 35 to 36 rank after the final games of 1st window today…

question is who started the fight? im sure anyone in a fit of anger will find it difficult to be "politically correct" during that moment.

no justifying a racial slur or anything, but when one is in a fight words will be said.

There's an article out on tbt, saying the guy is indeed a mma fighter or atleast training like one. And that jm apparently excused himself out of the game(coz of the gastro issue) and after doing so, went out for a few drinks at a certain doctor named resto. What happened after and how he got tangled up with the guy is still mystery. Another thing, i believe its frowned upon the mma community to engage in hostile acts against guys that arent trained, much less drunks who cant defend themselves.

You didn’t get CTC purpose, I’m sure about that… He did say by the way he will take some reserves in the future, especially if needed… For now he will focus on his 12 players… I think you’re mad maybe because your favorite players are not included… You keep insisting it should be have atleast 15 players, actually anyone here wants to have reserves, we were shock that he didn’t pick atleast 3 more players, But for sure CTC knows the reason… He knows what he wants to do than us here, he’s the GOAT coach in the PBA, Gold medal coach last Asian games for nothing, he’s more experience than everyone else here… So please stop it… if you have suggestion, You can go to SBP and CTC and tell your suggestions… Many of here understand CTC and as of now he’s doing a good job…

Please spare me your bullshit and I dare you to translate everything I posted to Tagalog because there's a lot of things I never said or even alluded to (hala, dugo nanaman ilong mo boy). I can go on and on and even translate what you posted just to make you look that much dumber than you are.

You don't know basketball, what's worse is that you insist on knowing English. If not for the mods, I would strictly post Tagalog to you just to make you look dumb in two languages.

Let's start from the top:
- Did I even say or even allude to the word "reserves" or "15 players"? Tangina mo ha. Sinungaling ka pa. Putting your words in other people's mouths is what squatters do. I know you're too stupid to back read other people's posts so it's useless trying to get you to understand.

- No one's disputing his GOAT status in the PBA, but this is the still the fucking PBA we're talking about. An inferior brand of basketball with no parity whatsoever and if you switch his Ginebra players with Converge players, he'd whine about not having enough talent... which he has had a lot of for 12 years. Denzel Bowles, James Yap, PJ Simon, Marc Pingris, the entire Ginebra team. Wala pang jumpball alam mo na sino malamang mananalo. In the context of the PBA, is it really because of his coaching or because he has talent? Carry that over to Gilas, it's the same thing with having players with specific talents like Brownlee and Kai: take them out of the equation... the whole team looks weak. That's the reality of Tim Cone. Your point of having this core of players master the system is useless without the entirety of the core (sige nga, tagalugin mo nga 'yan). Gilas will run into far superior teams that have already seen Tim Cone's system with the same players and have an easy scouting report.

Please provide the link for the said article.

On another note, I want to start a petition to kick Malonzo out of the NT, where can I do it?

lol we won 106-53 and all those shots off Oftana were contested, drooling over Newsome lol

IRC the Taipei guy shot 2 3s over Oftana in the first quarter. Contested or not 2 / 2 makes in a few minutes does not look good. How come the guy did not have open looks when Newsome subbed in? The reason is Newsome is quicker and has better laterals. The Taipei guy could not get separation even with screens. Fast forward 4th quarter, Oftana comes back, Taipei guy hits a 3 again in Oftana's face. In this game it didn't matter because our front court was too big. If this were a closer game against a similar type of player Oftana might be benched in the end game. I'm not a fan of Newsome. He's an inaccurate 3 pt shooter. But ever since the Asian games finals when he did the best defense against RHJ I've realized he is our best perimeter defender. I'm not sure why you're making this your hill to die in.

I don't know much about what happened to Malonzo. Indeed it is a bad look. But to me the circumstances--the N word--should be considered in his punishment. Did this happen on the night of the game? If it did, it's a bad look for the guy. Going out instead of going to the bench to support your team looks bad. It's a pity because I consider Malonzo as our best potential SF. He is more skilled and smoother than all the tall potential SFs like Balti and Navarro. His handles actually don't look bad compared say to KQ. KQ just makes up for it with better vision and hustle. I hope this gets resolved because I think Malonzo should play a big defensive role for the team moving forward.

He got excused for gastro symptoms but still went out for "a few" drinks? Not a smart decision at all. You're already dehydrated from pooping and vomiting.

Yup that's the fishy part for him and then we have, was it marcial or someone else from sbp saying he contracted covid from hk, so was there no self isolation in his part? Either way he's still in deep sh*t. Prolly why we still don't have a statement from him or his lawyers.

And it doesn't looked like he had "only a few drinks". The article also said before the CT match. Then downplaying it as "just a misunderstanding". He went down and the guy was still going after him

Malonzo playing a defensive role in the national team is like me hoping Kai would currently be in the NBA averaging double digits in points and rebounds.:p

Lol this saudi team will make any team work come 2025, body checks everywhere.. you will not beat them in grind nd grind game.. you need shooting, this is a nestor garcia coached team..
