called it, 30 point win. Get rid of that triangle bullshit and just have guys run the floor.

Triangle's there to build good habits (when to pass, where your teammates are, where you should move). But once those habits are there, we shouldn't run the triangle. Our offense had good flow without it. We were getting good looks and still passing the ball.

Triangle is useless in FIBA since zone defense is allowed and that zone defense can easily cancel out the triangle.

do you not see the assist numbers? haha

did you not see the same game i was watching? the assists were basically a simple kick out to a guy who made a tough shot. most of those had nothing to do with any triangle. it was when Gilas just ran everything to Brownlee or said, fuck it may 7'3 sa loob in the 3rd when HK also ran out of ideas offensively. by the 4th quarter garbage time, the entire team was stat padding when they ran the floor.

Results Day 1:

Australia 85 - Korea 71
Japan 77 - Guam 56
New Zealand 89 - Chinese-Taipei 69
China 80 - Mongolia 49
Philippines 94 - Hong Kong 64
Thailand 73 - Indonesia 56

Tignan natin kung uubra yan sa NZ. Chances are they'll ice Brownlee on the wing and find mismatches for Sotto.

Not everything has to be a flawless (a blowout from the start). It is also important that the flaws are seen (playing to the level of competition, lack of reliable shooting etc. ) now and be corrected. I just hope that coach Tim will not be stubborn and adjust for the next game.

I also like that almost all of the games are much more competitive now. We used to see a lot of 30+ point blowouts in 80% of the games before. That bodes well for the development of basketball in the continent.

you expect them to play like Serbia after 7 days of prac without two key bigs?

your expectations should be tempered, Tim is doing a good job especially with that adjusment against the zone by putting scottie top of the key (where he got most of his assists)

Can't really make any assumptions when we're playing against HK and Taiwan. Take everything with a grain of salt.

So people will be watching latvia vs spain later?

count me in.. rubio will play plus the hernangomez euroleague guy will play as well.. latvia will be the same team from WC san davis bertans and KP

I think Chris Newsome is Gilas best defensive guard right now, he has good size (6'2") and he always had good lateral movement to keep in step with the player he is defending. And right about now Im thinking Jordan Heading or Rhenz Abando is a better option for Gilas as compared to CJ Perez, the guy has always had poor shot selection and is a poor passer.

Against a team that, for all intents and purposes, had just 6 players with little offense other than putting the ball on the floor to drive, do a simple pnr while the other 3 guys watch? At this level, prep time or lack thereof shouldn't be an excuse for sloppy play. We all saw Korea in a literal slugfest today with Australia and lost because of those odd runs where despite playing perfect gameplan against Australia for 3 and a half quarters, they were shit for 3 minutes and lost the game. Gilas was bad against a so-so team for maybe 15 minutes until coming out of that 2nd half with more purpose.

Some observation

-need to have a legit outside threat at the PG spot
-Parez and Newsome have similar play styles, so replacing one would add variety to our team.
-Kai's presence and importance to the success of our NP can't be denied
-If Tamayo can't contribute offensively, he will be the odd man out once EdU and Abai return. Too small, unathletic & slow to be an effective defensive hybrid forward!
-Malonzo & Skati are overrated. The only advantage they have against other players at their respective positions is height & familiarity with TC system.
