Bad tune up series from Jordan, as they lost to Egypt badly (58-95).. although expected guys like RHJ, Al Dwairi to play for the qualifiers this week…

https://www.youtube.com/live/KZKl6ue84vI?si=r0Gp8ZA-lilsaX5Q

meanwhile Saudi again lost vs CAR (71-76).. they have a long way to learn the system of Nestor Garcia.. it is a long process.. although they keep try to learn…

Jordan is significantly weaker sans Al-Dwairi and RHJ.

Did Freddy play?

Their depth is simply not very good as it evident by the minutes played by their starters. Our bench outscored theirs in all matched as I recall.

Yes he did, so did fellow starters Amin Abuhawas, Hashem Abbas, & veteran center Mohammed Hussein. Missing are RHJ, Al Dwairi & Sam Bzai.

That is why very talented players are more important than very good coaches in a national team program… you can have very good coach but lacked of quality players then the program will not succeed… Indonesia, KSA and Bahrain have very good coaches and very good program, but they haven’t good talented players yet to program to succeed.. while team USA doesn’t need a very good coaches (although Steve Kerr is good) but they have lots of talent in their program… that is also why many disagree what Billy Manzano said to his podcast… Tab Baldwin is a very good coach but he also needs very good quality players to succeed… Do we think Tab Baldwin can lead Pakistan, Bangladesh basketball team into an Asian powerhouse in basketball? Answer is no because those teams have no quality players…

Balti or Laput in as Krakens replacement? Let's go wih young blood. New improve Kai is enough, but he still needs a reliever to give him a rest during his games against Hongkog and cT.

I think Laput isn't FIBA eligible.

Lebanon escapes a nail-biting win over Iraq in a friendly game recently. Lebanon didn't have Arakji & Ali Haidar in this game.

i think he is just having a rest. i dont think CTC will replace him. in this window, he wont be playing heavy minutes so its fine if he is included.

It is possible Junemar worsened his calf by playing against doctors orders. It depends on the latest doctors prognosis. But as we saw in game 3 and 4 a hobbled June mar is vulnerable. If he is forced to play then aggravates his injury it doesnt really sound like a good plan.

I think Japeth will play instead. Kai and Jb starts and Japeth and Tamayo/Malonzo as relievers.

I expected JB at 4 anyways (he was a four in college, and has played both forward positions throughout his pro career). Let's see if he can help Kai out on defense. Last window, he couldn't help June Mar out on defense against Jordan and Lebanon.

Kai is better defender than Junmar, better rim protector, and Kai will face smaller HK and Taiwan bigs… so no problem for now… the acid test will be against New Zealand in November…

No word on Junmar's possible replacement?
Or maybe coach Tim won't call for any replacement on Junmar anymore with our 1st game vs. Hong-Kong just 3 days away.

Latest report mentioned the team will go with 11 players.

Japeth replaces Edu with Junemar having no replacement.

Doesn't really matter as CTC plays a 9-man rotation each game.

Also, it's HK and Taiwan. We don’t need that many bigs. Just relievers for Kai. As long as JB32 is healthy, our offensive blueprint remains intact.

Besides, we need to rely less on Junemar as he’s 34 already.

so AJ and June Mar are out for this window. what we have here are these guys:

- Kai
- Japeth
- Carl
- JB
- Malonzo
- KQ
- Oftana
- Dwight
- Newsome
- CJ
- Scottie

Is Keith Datu ineligible? How about Luis Villegas? James Laput? Brandon Bates?

pretty sure Datu, Villegas, and Laput are ineligible. not 100% sure with Bates i dont recall ever reading that he was. maybe someone else can confirm but he probably isnt.

Yeah, we don't have any eligible competent FIBA bigs in thr PBA after June Mar and Japeth.

If we want bigs, we need to get from the amateur ranks, and maybe Greg as a worst-case scenario.

Damn, PBA and SBP looking to insist a PBA-majority Gilas many in the PBA are either undersized, underskilled or ineligible. If you come to think of it, PBA also has shallow talent depth, if you take into consideration those three (undersized, underskilled, ineligible).

in the bigman position alone, PBA players will either be one of these.

- CS - ineligible
- Arana - undersized
- Datu - ineligible
- Villegas - ineligible
- Laput - ineligible
- Sangalang - undersized/underskilled
- Tautuaa - ineligible
- BGR - ineligible

It is clear SMC/SBP just doesnt want to deal with certain players eg Balti and even Greg.

TC will try to rely on Kai primarily at C. Good as he has shown in the B league recently, we still have to see if Kai is up to the task of being our starting Fiba center. Kai also has injury history btw. What if our 3 Cs are injured? Let’s make Tamayo play C?

It’s still the start though. If Balti gets drafted in the PBa next season SMC/SBP will look like bigger asses if they dont include him.

Arana needs to learn how to defend in the perimeter, or at least be quick enough to defend FIBA fours. He was the NCAA DPOY in NCAA Season 97, but right now, he's exclusively a low-post center. If he doesn't improve his mobility, he'll be a right-handed version of Sangalang.

A big center next to him could have changed his trajectory earlier.
