Cone will get replacements from players that knows his system,no matter that they're over the hill or even FIBA level skill are subpar,he trusts his system,it got him the gold in Asian Games,as long as he keeps winning the Asian side of things its good enough for the next 4 yerar or so,even if he failed to get to WC or Olympics,if he keeps winning the SEA GAMES,Jones Cup and the Asian Games,in the eyes of SBP and fans he's the GOAT.

CTC should’ve tap Tolentino and Ahamnisi rather than those two scrubs… atleast these two are reliable replacements in case some of his current members will not available…

Boomers 12 for asia cup qualifiers. They’ll face SoKor and Indonesia

GGaqrtjbgAA6eAm

Indonesia and later Thailand are lucky that they are now regularly playing against those tough teams such as Australia… before, they are just contend to play against SEAG teams… they will both lose but it will help for their development long term…

Qatar tune up game results:

Qatar 71 - KSA - 69

Egypt - 83 - Bahrain - 64

I've given up on him. He was once a 6-7 with a reliable outside shot. However not much else. He has length but slow against SF. Does not have the bulk against PF. Decent motor but not outstanding handles. His once consistent 3-pointers has left him. He is a good system player and thrive under tab's. However, his IQ is not high enough to thrive in other systems.

Should have leveled up and played against tougher competition. Maybe it's Delta's orders but he really stagnated playing in the MPBL where he's facing shorter, lesser skilled , mostly out of shape, should have retired players.

Japeth just joined Gilas practice.

No answers yet on if he will take AJ's spot this window. He's already retired, though.

I think taking 12 is just an excuse to not pick others that SMC/PBA doesn't like like Balti etc. There is no other big who has experience and is effective in Fiba. And yet their pulling back Aguilar's retired ass. With Edu's injury risk an alternate is needed for him.
LMAO, japs been wanting to retire since 2020. That's the problem when a country couldn't produce a handful of big-men with freakish athleticism above 6'9 locally. Mix of genetics and overreliance on foreign born players.

Japeth inclusion doesn't make sense and a waste of spot, They said they thinking long term but they added an old guy...

Japeth and Edu game is bit similar cone maybe wants japeth to simulate edu game but japeth is old now younger players will help us long term.

Baltazar should be the one need to be called up but we know theirs a gap between his handles fine but atleast get a younger bigs.

Maybe Japeth is just a practice player.. I’m ok with that if he will be a practice player…

Maybe, I see Ralph Cu there and no way Ralph Cu isnt a practice player.

If Japeth's a practice player, I don't mind. We'll need guys like him to simulate the bigmen of other teams, especially those of Europe and the Americas.

But a roster spot in this window, I dunno. I think a better choice would have been a younger big. Arana, Mason, Pablo, Gagate, Demisana.

Did Qatar play with a naturalized player?

Yes, that jersey no.2 (I don’t know who he is) could be their NP, the rest are locals under exemption rule… there are Senegalese, Bosnian, Congolese, etc… I don’t see native Qataris there… check their pool here..

the question is how many years did those Foreign guys reside in Qatar to be a local? Qatar will be dangerous team again in the future since they already exploit the loophole of FIBA eligibility rules… Qatar sacrifice from 2017 - 2023 to follow the residency requirements of FIBA and here we are again… meanwhile Saudis struggling from their new coach Nestor Garcia’s system so far.. but since Saudis already qualified for FIBA asia cup being the host, they can manage to lose games and learn from coach Garcia’s system until next year, their target says a semis stint… Let’s see if they will get their goal in tough Asia cup competition…

What's unique about this window is that it's the only FIBA schedule before the OQT's, much like Tab losing Dwight to injury before heading to Serbia... no one knows how this team will look in July.

No disrespect to HK and TPE, but I also don't mind Japeth on the squad...it's just that what are the odds of having more than 2 new players every time given how the program is convinced to keep these 12 players together until 2027 and the next competition is against world class teams?

As lauaghable as Chot's 23 for 23 was, Edu should be one of those untouchable players when healthy along with Dwight, Kai, Malonzo, KQ, Tamayo, and maybe Oftana. The others will be four years older and slower so unless Jayson David develops into the next Bal David, Barefield lands on SMC's lap and magically gets a FIBA exception, Laput outplays JMF consistently when Magnolia plays SMB, and SMC have enough money to pay Clarkson or even a Jalen Green every off season... there won't be any changes.

Oh I see these pensioned foreigners started to get back to seriously play ball..

Yeah, Those players were under residency from 2017, Most of them are new from their national team program... Maybe they granted their exemption from FIBA in just one decision... exactly 5-7 years of residency from Qatar... That's why Qatar became irrelevant in Asian basketball from 2017 - 2023...Too much Africans and Bosnians in their line up... With Qatar exposed FIBA's loophole, many countries will do the same... UAE already did it to Mamadou Ndiaye, Indonesia will follow suit, as their African duo are now near their residency requirements from FIBA....

CTC is stubborn when it comes to his system, who's here old enough to remember when his so called strong team gets beaten by US NCAA Div 1 teams, the shock on him and the fans were amusing. His system is above everybody else,if he gets the right player for his system then alls well that ends well.

See how a Jordan team without a naturalized player & Ahmad Al Dwairi looked like an averaged Asian team that it was easily beaten by Bahrain. While Bahrain is no slouch, it is not among the top 10 teams in Asia-Oceania basketball.

Jordan paraded some developmental players in this game & it's obvious how fragile the team is if the key players are not playing.

Their NP is Mike Lewis II. I think he played for Qatar in last year's Jones Cup.

About the players of Qatar, the Bosnian-descent players like Nedim Muslic, Mejo Haracic, Faris Advic have been playing for the Qatar national team in the last 4 years or so. These players are actually in their mid-20's now which means they are almost in their primes now, yet they have not really made strong enough impact to elevate Qatar to a lofty placing in Asian basketball in the last few years. And it doesn't look like Qatar basketball will be back to its lofty placings in Asian basketball in the next 2 to 3 years with those players in tow.

Now Qatar has a No. Of teenage players in its current pool & they are black players. Those players are actually the key players of Qatar's U-18 youth team in 2022. These players look promising but I don't think they are going to make an immediate impact to really elevate the team any higher anytime soon.

Qatar's best local player is 6-foot-2 shooting guard Abdulrahman Saad who is of Egyptian descent. But Saad hasn't played for the Qatar national team in the last 3 years or so.
