Not sure with this. Defensively that should be good in Asia-level. But offensively, Dwight at SG might cause some spacing problems. Not as bad as say if Thirdy were there. But Dwight's 30% 3FG is probably lower than other SG candidates. Dwight also played SG and PG for Tab's team. But Tab I guess is even more of a defensive oriented than Tim. That is my ideal as well but I'm just thinking that maybe TC would be more comfortable with a better 3 pt shooter at SG.

Additionally, this is where the need for a Heading comes in IMO. If Heading were there you could even put Dwight at PG. Dwight is probably not an inferior facilitator to Scottie.

Dwight's team is playing him more at the 2 position lately and it bumped his stats up,in Gilas he can be inserted in certain situations and position as needed.

Tim Cone can tolerate the very average shooting of Dwight because he has Brownlee to carry the offensive load.

Personally, I’m excited for this qualifiers… last asia cup qualifiers was cut short due to pandemic, FIBA had to do bubble format to continue some games… the biggest match up in this window are Guam vs Mongolia, Indonesia vs Thailand (battle for being 2nd best ASEAN basketball team), Japan vs China (current best Asian team vs long time Asia’s best), Jordan vs KSA (Nestor Garcia, who coached DR last World Cup will debut for KSA vs RHJ led Jordan), Lebanon vs Syria (Asia’s 2nd best vs team that upgrade their roster) and last PHL vs Taiwan (JB’s first game after suspension)…

But let's see how they will fare against Japan.

They’re lack of pure PG in their team… Hechanova is not a PRO level guard, he had trouble crossing the ball with Taiwanese trap defense offer to him.. Ross and Cruz are wings, not a true ball handler… Calvo is also same as Hechanova… Guam doesn’t have professional league there… most of their players are overseas players…

Guam couldve sneak in JP Calvo as their pg lol..

If somehow most of Asian teams will level up their potentials, exploring exemption cases and continuous improvement, I will not surprise if FIBA Asia will expand their teams to 24… the only hindrance is two Asian regions doesn’t focus on basketball such as Central Asia (only Kazakhstan playing) and South Asia (they are cricket mad region)… but the rest of the region taking investment to the sport and put it seriously.. even our neighbors in SEABA are improving such as Indonesia, Thailand and even teams like Malaysia (who reportedly hiring naturalized player) and Vietnam…

Robert just like Tim Cone's team, almost a intact roster..

Although no Ali Haidar there.. maybe he’s injured… he’s not well when his team playing SGA in Dubai weeks ago… but look who’s back.. Norvelle Pelle.. this guy is very fit for Lebanon team.. inside operator plus good rim protector… if he was there in their World Cup line up rather than Spellman, maybe they can be better than 23rd place finish last World Cup…

Lebanon pool for 1st window of FIBA Asia cup qualifiers:

Norvelle Pelle
Sergio El Darwich
Ali Mzher
Gerard Hadidian
Wael Arakji
Ali Mansour
Amir Saoud
Karim Zeinoun
Hayk Geokgyan
Mark Khoueiry
Karim Ezzeddine
Jad Khalil
Omar Jamaliddine

These players have been regular fixtures of the Lebanese national team except for maybe 2 or 3 new players. But the core of the team (though Ali Haidar isn't in the roster) is there.

I think Lebanon's weakness continues to be at the center spot. We all know that Haidar is a natural 4 so as Karim Ezzeddine. G

That’s why tapping Norvelle Pelle is a must for them… he will cover the weaknesses of Lebanon… Pelle was once played in FIBA Asia cup 2017 and he was a beast down low, he is also very excellent rim protector… Lebanon will be title favorites again next year at Asia cup and might probably beat Australia for the title… note: Assuming if Australia will just send NBL players for FIBA Asia cup next year…

I just checking Weibo Chinese media accounts and news and rumors saying former Bay Area guard Myles Powell will be tap by China as their Naturalized player… it will be a good help for China but I think wing NP is better for them.. especially that most of their bigs are soft (softer than Kai Sotto)… buti nalang Jordan already naturalized RHJ, I’m sure if RHJ still available, China might offer him being their naturalized player… he could be better fit for current Chinese team..

Yeah, with Dwight he has to be in a roll to really have a big impact in offense, but his defense makes up for it,his versatile enough to be inserted in certain situation from 1,2,3 and it looks like this season in Bleague his coach gave him an ok to create his own shots and its starting to bear fruit.

Guys, do U think our team in the 1st window would be better than the 2023 Asian Games gold medalist Gilas squad? Hard to tell, right? We have Brownlee, Junmar, Oftana, Perez, Newsome, Iskati as holdovers from the Asian Games team. Then you got Kai, Tamayo, Dwight R, Quiambao & Malonzo as players who weren't in the Asian Games team. While the Asian Games holdovers will carry over the chemistry & cohesion they have achieved playing in the Asiad, the entry of new players - Kai, Tamayo, Oftana, Dwight & Quiambao, could somewhat stir the team's established cohesion & chemistry from the Asiad, especially since the team will only have about 7 days of training before its 1st game.

Good thing, its just Hongkong & Taiwan whom we will be facing in the 1st window. I'm confident we'll easily beat Hongkong, but I think we can't overlook Taiwan. I feel Taiwan won't be an easy opponent for us.
