It's fine, as long as we don't lineup too many old players.
I see your point, though. 35yo Brownlee, 34yo June Mar, 33yo Newsome, and 30yo Scottie and Perez. That's 5 30+ players. Still, we have an average age of 27.7 because Carl, Kai, AJ, and Quiambao are no older than 24.

There are a couple more issues.
1. AJ injured his meniscus last November 12. That means he might be out for quite a while. The projection was 3 months, so he might not make it. It would do him good to at least attend practice.
2. Brownlee's status is still pending in FIBA. We run the risk of not fielding him if FIBA rule negatively. Ange needs to be called up from France.
3. With AJ injured, and Brownlee's status pending, we have no defensive players at 4/5. Quiambao at 6'5" might be too small.
4. Malonzo's left knee buckled yesterday, so might need a replacement for him at 2 (Heading), 3, or 4 (Balti, Mason).
5. The pool consists of only 12 players. Might be incomplete. I did read a tweet though that this is the initial pool.
Otherwise, it's good that Oftana, Carl, Kai, and Quiambao are in the pool as future pieces.

Abando was able to come back to Gilas, though.

It helped that Abando have close relationship w/ Long Hair (Letran championship run), The other two are not... That's why Abando returns to Gilas, plus he's good guy... Good locker room persona that likens his teammates, either veterans or young players...

The 12 players who were selected are having good relationship either SBP , PBA , MVP or SMC... I want Heading from the pool but maybe the reason he wasn't pick because the condition maybe Heading should sign with Terrafirma (He is already drafted by Dyip), And Heading still not yet to sign with them that still triggers PBA.. Baltazar case is already known why he still not pick yet (Hello Delta), While we don't know why Bolick still not pick to atleast in the Gilas pool, especially that he was in the PBA... Maybe CTC doesn't want him (or Long Hair due to declining to be harvest to either SMC teams)...

Chot picked Heading in the past, though. Twice, in the February 2023 window, and for the WC pool. Cone (as Chot's assistant) has worked with Heading too.

Sure... But maybe because SBP think that Heading might joining PBA already after that.. But he's still not... Politics killing our chance to create a best ever national team squad... We have a big chance to be the best Asian team if Politics is not played here... But let's see, maybe he will be pick in 2nd release of pool... because we need extra players especially if the original players are injured...

Im confused, awhile back a lot of posters wanted pure young guys for this window because of supposedly relatively weak tes we will be facing. And now we want reason on why <insert player here> is not part of the core group? Any of then can still be added becuse this is suppose to be a 4 year program and just because a name is part of the "core" group doesnt mean he'll be lock each and every game.i doubt jmf and newsome are locks for 2027 wc. By that time, some youngish player would most likely be good enough for everyone to agree he/they can replace jmf and newsome

We are always pushing for younger players for this pool, especially this coming window... But SBP, PBA and especially CTC has other plans... We have nothing to do about it... That's their decision...

We need better PGs or at least start grooming them now. We still don't have a JMF replacement. Kai is there by default and even he needs a lot of seasoning.

So the depth chart will be:
PG - Scottie (main PG) , Newsome , Perez (combo guard at most)
SG - Ramos , Oftana
SF - Quiambao , Brownlee (can play PF too)
PF - Malonzo (can play SF) , Tamayo
C - Edu (can play PF) , Junmar , Kai
Good line up, most players were picked can play multiple positions, can defend and not disadvantage in height... Although we need shooters... I hope Heading will be included in the pool...

I hope guys like Lopez, M. Philipps, Koon, Balunggay (once cleared), Konov and Harris can have a shot at it as well, being part of the pool would be good for these young players

Bolick should be given a shot.
Sucks SJ and RJ are both Tab's boys which means they'll likely get overlooked by the SBP.
