So we ended our 2025 FIBA Asia Cup window qualifier campaign on a losing mode. A very frustrating losing mode...

...Then we console ourselves by saying, "Those loses are non-bearing games since we are already qualified anyway"

My pitchforks and torches are all out and ready from Austin, Tx. In case they fuck up in the Asia Cup.

No excuses. If we don’t do significantly better than 9th place, the SBP and CTC should be held accountable.

Yeah. No need to rest the starters especially Brownlee since those games don't matter.

I really do hope that the Dubai and 3rd Window losses will be a blessing in disguise on this latest version of Gilas led by CTC.

I am very very happy that it happens now rather than in August that is very very painful.

I already mentioned this before with Kai and a healthy AJ with the imminent entry of QMB

our Gilas may somehow had a shot for the crown against the AUS's usual team B.

but with the current situation, reaching the medal round is already an accomplishment

unless SBP surprise us that aside from QMB they are also quietly facilitating AK34's exemption as well.

then let's flip up again the narrative of challenging AUS team B in the Gold medal match.

who knows maybe Grandpa Al P. are really in a super duper good mood by quietly facilitating with

USA Basketball for a possible transfer of Federation on 4-star prospect JJ Mandaquit and 5-star prospect Dylan Harper

in the Senior Level.

Happy Hormones to all of us.

Getting at least a podium finish still matters because our Asia Cup standing will affect our rankings.

Why do you think we dropped from 27th to 41st? Those 7th and 9th place finishes in 2017 & 2022 under Choke did a number on us.

The pot allocation for the WCQ is based on our ranking.

I'm being realistic... It's like Iran w/o Haddadi.. We can try but don't expect too much because it will hurt you... Almost lose to Qatar is already a sign.. teams not scared on other players except Kai.. Taiwan shows that already...

The team isn’t super bad. They need to make adjustments.

it’s not like we’re gunning for first place.

at least a semis appearance.

no hopes for August, really not holding my breath for it, I think it'll be a really shitty performance for the team and a nightmare watch for fans

Iran -- 88
Kazakhstan -- 45

Qatar -- 81
India -- 61

Kazakhstan has officially been eliminated. First time we'll have an Asia Cup without them.

He also has DDO Jr if he wants 5-out.

I mean nobody is advocating for Tim to drastically change his shcemes, just to have another option when things are not going his way,I honestly believe that Jong can design an option B,combining some hybrid DDO with a little dab of Tab's style. The fact that we watched more than 1 team somehow clogged some of the passing lanes of the triangle and forces double digit turnovers is just unbelievable for a CTC team.

From 1 win away to make their 1st ever Fiba world cup appearance 2 years ago to not even make it to the Fiba Asia cup this year.. it shows they doesn't care about their basketball program, or even the sport as whole... I hate countries who doesn't care basketball, they should not belong here... If they doesn't care basketball then never participate forever... There are the likes of Mongolia, who love basketball but because they are in tough group, they can't make it even in continental tournament.. if Mongolia is in the west region, they can easily qualify...

There are the likes of Syria, Jordan, KSA, Bahrain, Japan, Iraq, etc... who are known football countries (or baseball in Japan), they still care about basketball and they are very serious to content to everyone and proved that they are not just sticking to just one sport.. example Syria, they are football country, but they also love basketball as prominent 2nd sport.. even their professional league are more passionate fans than the PBA itself.. I want countries who care about the sport... Not just to say they are participating only..

How this Lebanon, having hard time vs UAE.. Gilas lose to Lebanon big, and they have hard time vs rank number 104 team...

Teams will play for final qualifying tournament for last 4 slots in Fiba Asia cup

East: Taiwan, Guam, Thailand

West: Iraq, Bahrain, India

Who do you think will take the final 4 spots this summer?

Congrats Syria... Those teams who love basketball are deserve to play here... Not those countries who just put basketball in last of their priorities in their sports program...

Qatar slowly exposing their import players..

In the 1st game vs. Kazakhstan, they paraded Mike Lewis & Tyler Harris. Then in the 2nd game vs. India, they had Harris & Donte Grantham. This only confirms that Tyler Harris is a local player while Mike Lewis & Donte Grantham are their naturalized players.

they can say by fiba asia cup, mike lewis has served his residency hence mike lewis becomes local hahaha..eye test the 3 are asia league import level players..

That's the complexities of basketball.

Well we have to understand that UAE now has a naturalized player. Definitely the addition of such naturalized player for UAE has made the team stronger. Perhaps the Lebanese took it easy on this game as they are already qualified.

Perhaps we can also say the same about Jordan in its final game vs. Iraq in which the Jordan won by only 6 pts. Perhaps the Jordanians took it easy as well since they are already qualified.

BTW, I don't really give too much weight on the rankings.

Up to now I still can't think of any reason what made FIBA decide to declare Tyler Harris as a Qatari local player. Obviously such development gives the Qatar national team a huge boost. Imagine Qatar can field 2 world imports at the same time. They can play either a Mike Lewis or a Donte Grantham (as naturalized player) with Tyler Harris (as a local). A poster here may say, "Why worry about a lowly ranked team (Qatar is No. 92 in the FIBA world ranking)?" I don't really put that much weight on world rankings. Qatar may only ranked No. 92 in the world but by having 2 American imports now on its side, it is going to threaten world No. 35 Jordan, world No. 28 Iran (remember Qatar already beat Iran in the 2nd window) & of course our very own Gilas team which is ranked No. 34. Chinese Taipei is ranked No. 79 but with the way it played in the 3rd window it looks like it is going to threaten some Asian teams ranked from 20 to 40 in the world ranking. Eh wala pa nga dyan yung mga Hinton brothers.

Besides, this UAE team also give import flavored SGA team last Dubai cup, where SGA just won only 9... Like Qatar, UAE also doing Qatar like blueprint of recruiting foreign players too.. just check UAE line up, half of them are not Emiratis by birth... But they are not that greedy like Qatar.... Maybe in 2029 they can snatch a spot in Fiba Asia cup...

Speaking of which, the SBP should push to host that edition.

Been a while since we hosted it.
