I have a feeling NZ will be able to avenge its loss to Gilas in the upcoming 3rd window. They have a No. of new players, but I think guys like Corey Webster, Sam Waardenburg, Rueben Te-Rangi & Jordan Ngatai would pose big problems for us.

We can always use that "we don't have Kai Sotto" excuse because why not? I just want Gilas to give them a run for their money atleast, not a lopsided win for TB, but ofcourse a win would make it more sweeter. Beating them without Kai is still possible anyway.

It’s a non-bearing game.

as long as it’s close, I’m fine if we come up short.

Still, we should go for the win.

where is shea ili? Injured?

As long as Gilas won’t incur injuries…. I don’t mind them losing both to NZ and Taiwan as long as not by wide margins. They may limit Brownlee’s playing time ang provide more minutes to Edu, CT, KQ and Amos…

NZ ok but losing to Taiwan is gonna incur the wrath of of peenoise

Dwight got injured on their game today. He was in the floor for like 21 secs before the injury. They did not disclose what it is though. I think we really need to expand our pool for like 3-5 players.

No bro! Expanding the pool is going to disrupt the extremely precious chemistry of the team. Also, the additional players will never ever learn the triangle!

I would take that as a sarcasm, XD. But if it is not, I think there will be enough time for the new guys to learn the system until the Asia Cup.

It is obviously a sarcasm. I am among those here who strongly advocates for the expansion of Gilas pool. Say adding 2 or 3 players won't really disrupt the chemistry. As I've said in the other thread, had we added 2 or 3 players last 2nd window, I think after this 3rd window, the new players will already have a good grasp of the triangle & may have already started to jell with their teammates. The thing is, hindi mo naman kailangan bigyan ng malaking playing time ang mga bagong players. Token minutes will be enough. What is more important is the new players gets to train/scrimmage with the team.

The key word is "triangle".

It's a system that requires like 8-9 months of prep time?

There's a reason why Phil Jackson never coached Team USA.

Not saying I agree with CTC. Even if we include new members, would CTC even utilize them?

Dwight is our only decent SF. Not sure who will take Dwights place. I dont think Oftana is a starter level. Obviously a Navarro is a decent SF defender but he is not in the pool. Only Newsome is a decent SF defender but he is undersized. At this point JB is not expected to do that. Malonzo came from an injury so I dont know how ready he is.

Like I said before we've been lucky so far in regards to health. If the system is hard to learn then all the more reason to include as many players as they can in practices so they can start learning? Unless the people on their blacklist are a lot more than we thought they should have really invited the obvious candidates to the pool. Maybe the issue is financial ?

I doubt it.

The issue is political.

It's fucking Chua. Kailan ba hindi eto umepal sa programa? the guy has been causing trouble since the Gilas 1 days.

And just like that, Rosario gets hurt.

We are now down to Edu, Fajardo, and Japeth as our bigs.

So much for an extra man in the pool.

The wing issue wouldn't even be an issue if we were secure in terms of bigman defenders.

As for Malonzo, I saw him be able to stay in front of Newsome in a few possessions, but that's pretty much what I saw.

And it’s not like we have a superfluous amount of 6'5-6'6 guys with legit wing skills.
