FIBA looming approval of Boatwright’s naturalisation may hinder the development of local biggies under Gilas program like Tamayo, Quiambao, AJ and even Kai. I believe they should keep JBL as their main NP. They may tap Boatwright only if JBL is not available…

they can slide down to the SF position

Potentially another embarrassing situation like Clarkson.
Essentially what it comes down to is if the citizenship and passport has been entered declared in International immigration records prior to 16th birthday. It's either there or not before 2016. No amount of new documents or even citing of a passport matters. If walang record entered wala.

It's just 4k each? That's money well spent IMO if you're successful. Why are we not doing this to all our ineligibles?

It's not a hit and miss process, a federation like SBP cannot just wholesale submit volume (over 10 ) request for exceptions without 1st doing its due diligence that they meet FIBA guidelines for submission ( such as significant residency years from a young age etc) . Otherwise this will get the ire of FIBA and the sec general. they already said multiple times na NO ( ethnicity lineage with no documentation is useless and residency at a young age is what matters , so why keep on insisting that your basis of why a person should be exempted be considered ( ang kulit, NO na )

But not applying for Koume's local status does not make sense for Phil stakeholders since they are not letting him play as a local in Philippine leagues. Ange is essentially in limbo which is totally unfair for the guy. He is not the naturalized player priority. Unless, the PBA has plans of letting FSA's play in the league if they are graduates of local universities. Can you shed light on this matter further, Sir DAdmiral?

All I can say is whoever is in control and leading the SBP determines who they prioritise to help, if SMC is in control , then they prioritise players that they have under contract. As you saw with Heading's interview one of the reasons he joined the PBA , was to be able to join Gilas again. Ange officially is not under contract with any of the Philippine stakeholders who control the SBP , so he's not priority , which is sad and really not smart.

Homer claims he saw the passport already.

Like many of us saw Clarkson passport online - ( the reason Chua sited SBP was embarrassed,) it's NOT the citing of a duly issued passport by DFA that matters, but if the citizenship ownership has been declared in international immigration records (and not have a contradictory declaration). BTW presenting a passport before 16 yrs old is NOT an exception case , but litterally just meeting main requirement for eligibility .

for me here's the thing..on AK34

how many SEAG and Asian Games Ange can he possibly play for the next 10 to 15 yrs

depending on his physical condition

the possibility that he could bring to the country an exponential amount of medals of any colors

are productive enough as a Filipino basketball player.

same argument I posted with Sedric Barefield storyline.

with Grandpa Chualay nows hold that very important spots

I think his eyes, ears and sense of touch as far as public sentiments are concern on

Philippine basketball landscape are much clearer and louder compared to those

corporate educated Grandpas who are moonlighting as a true blue sportsman

just let the fire burning and eventually they will notice the camp fire.

Tamayo and KQ can play the 3.

Also, JB32 is expected to be our NP till the Asia Cup.

Boatwright’s naturalization is not expected to be done by Feb given the raucous in our current government.

Bennie’s realistic first game as a Gilas player is FIBA WCQ 2027.

For me, if JB can still play on high level until 2027, I still pick him anytime anyday .. he's already proven and tested...

My take is JB may still be good enough to play as Gilas naturalized player 2 or 3 years from now but on a significantly reduced playing time. Maybe he will still be proficient playing around 25 mins. a game in the Asia-Oceania level.

How credible is Homer Sayson? Hope he is someone who is very much conscious of maintaining a reputation of unblemished credibility & integrity.

and why would QMB show his personal things like passport to a curious Homer Sayson?

As confirmed by Chua , the SBP hasnt seen QMB passport, there isn't any reasonable reason for QMB (who is a significant contribution to Gilas ) to withhold presenting his passport to the SBP
Do note a valid passport before 16 years old is littierally the only requirement to be eligible as a local, this is NOT a document that needs further lobbying or persuasion to be exempted to play as a local . The whole situation with QMB does not add up, Considering for the longest time QMB camp has been seeking help to fix his papers for his passport and has been courted by Batang Gilas nd college teams for years.

Theres a lot fishy with the recruitment of QMB. A lot of the other big schools backed off because of the papers QMB.They obv think they couldnt get it done.

Again in chua perspective him.being eligible before pba draft is at tebir disadvantage, him being eligible after being drafted by terrafirma is perfect situation

And sir analyzed we all know the pruce tag of qmb will be up more than 100 % if he becomes eligible

The thing is if the claim is he already has a passport before 16 yrs, old then it's not even up to SBP to process or determine if he's FIBA eligible, ( a valid passport before 16 yrs old does NOT require an exception or for SBP to file an application for exception) . With a U16 passport QMB is eligible period (no questions asked). So this begs the question, why haven't they presented this so called passport all these years ? Another Clarkson passport magic thing ? If so then it makes sense why they're holding back, cause if that magic passport is filed to FIBA for verification and does not match immigration international record ( as Chua said , pahiya naman tayo,, huli ka !) To mods I purposely wrote thst not in English so as not add shame.

how does this work? what if the kid never got his ph passport stamped?

so granting that QMB’s parents did indeed secured his Filipino passport in a Philippine consulate in the States when he was still a boy. This is likely as Milloras are well connected. I posted here before I understand his grandpa is a distinguished UP College of Medicine alumnus. At young age his lolo may have seen his apo’s potential and applied dual citizenship for young Quentin. Former IBP president and late Pangasinan governor Vicente Millora is a relative of his lolo. At very young age he may have Philippine passport but it may have expired and never stamped as Quentin may never used his Philippine passport when he spent his holidays in Philippines. Having a Western passport is more convenient when going to immigration counters in NAIA. As Philippine passport holders have to traverse usually long queues.

I have 2 passports myself, I usually presented my non-Filipino passport whenever I go to Philippines. I secured it almost 10 years ago after my re-acquisition of Filipino citizenship. Almost every year I have vacation to home-country but each time I don’t bothered to have it stamped. Maybe QMB’s parents were doing the same…

I'm.not referring to the use of the passport to enter borders and get stamped record.

I'm referring to if the Philippine passport and citizenship was declared with particularly US immigration and as such recorded in the 5 eyes partners database which FIBA uses for record matching to verify authenticity..

in most border entry forms and when applying for either visas or any service with or from the US government, included is a declaration question-; Do you or Amy member of family posses a citizenship other than the US ? Forms have a date when completed. If their family has been declaring NO. , then there will be NO record entered in international data base . Note false declaration is quite a serious matter.
