FIBA-Asia Cup 2025 Saudi Arabia

I just watch the replay of Iraq-Qatar game at youtube won by Iraq by 5 pts. Qatar has a new naturalized player in Michael Lewis II who is a 6-foot-1, 25-year old guard.

The game was close although Iraq was in control for most part. Qatar really is no longer as strong as it was a decade ago. It is now just the same level as Iraq, UAE, Bharain, Kuwait, Palestine.

Yeah... It was KSA and Bahrain now the kings of Gulf basketball in the last 8 years... Qatar was on decline after the Hagop rule was implemented... They can hire more kids under 16 years old to be local, But it has also effects on development of their program, because it is unsure if their recruits are good long term... Unless they will hire American kids below 16....

While Palestine starting their life after Sakakini era... It's hard for them to find another player like him since their population is less and some problems within their country... If they didn't choke that India game during playoff round, maybe they are in the place of India today.. They will give some fight unlike India, knowing how good is Sakakini is alongside Abu Shamala, Krayem and a naturalized player....

By the way Palestine is now the first team who grab the slot for next edition of Asia cup qualifiers starting November 2023 after getting 3-0 start this qualifiers, joining the 16 teams who qualified in last FIBA Asia cup last year in Jakarta...

Eastern Region qualifiers will start on Friday (Nov.24)

We should really work on getting our ineligibles exempted down the line after they've played here for a bit. Balungay, the Philips brothers and Lucero come to mind. Maybe QMB if he starts playing here too.

Maybe Jeremiah Gray can be added to these possible eligibles as he's now playing in the PBA
Imagine a roster with Koon,Ramos,Gray,Lucero,Malonzo,Balunggay,M.Philipps,Tamayo,Kouame and Kai, that should be our core hehe

Tough take the players qatar have currently are more skilled than the yaseem ismail era overall ah.. its just that they aren't as motivated as they were back then..conditioning isnt there cohesion isnt there..is like a bunch of players playing for Kings of the court

SBP should also include BGR on this narrative, I think playing for more than a decade already(?) since his Alab-SMB days are fair enough for that exemption.

Yeah agree on BGR, its like having a matured Carl Tamayo

wasn't there another player with the U16 Thai team that was really good? 6-5 thai-am. forgot his name. i wonder what happened to him? he was suppose to be as good as or potentially better than Lamb.

Mongolia 76 - 69 Hong Kong

Top scorers for MGL: Bilguun 16, Sanchir 13, Onolbataar 11
Top scorers for HKG: Choi Kwan Tsai 19, Shiu Wah Leung 17, Marco Leung 13

Mongolia was shooting bricks in the fourth quarter as they bailed themselves out by free throws and Hong Kong rallied from 15 down to as close as 5 down but ultimately failed to complete the comeback.
