If we want a better shot at the semis, we HAVE TO win the group.

Palying japan is same as playing lebanon and iran...i dont expect brownlee to play come august.. tim.cone will really need to put carl and kq to score for us..

They need to get harper jr. to replace brownlee.. familiarize him early starting asia cup

It willbe different once timrealize he wouldnt have brownlee. Thats the 50 percent of his offense..nit only the suspension issue.. the thumb issue as well.

Million dollar solution is to play clarkson, which is very impractical..its like basketball Gods is givibg us the same test, overcome new zealand, you basketball future depends on it.

Yeah, we really need to work on our perimeter defense. With Scottie, Newsome, Oftana, Dwight, and even JB and CJ, there's not much excuse for us to be bad at defending the 3.

Some shooting could help too. Give Carl and Quiambao a shot if we need it. If Malonzo and Oftana get better from 3, we'll take that too.

We would need more than 9 days of preparation to accomplish those things.

Sadly our opponents will have much more than 9 days of preparation prior to the tournament. Some teams will have as much as 5 to 6 weeks of preparation.

Will RHJr be available during the November and February windows for the WCQ?

You know Tim. He’s reluctant to include players who won’t be readily available.

1st and 2nd place in the group is fine.

Japan, Lebanon, or Iran are all beatable and within in the same range of difficulty.

The only real benefits of topping the group are the added day of rest and avoiding Australia till the finals.

Dang Group A. If it were Gilas instead of Lebanon, it's a national embarrassment waiting to happen... but that's the luck of the draw. Not to underestimate Iraq, but Demario Mayfield is like if Iskati was black and 2 inches taller.

I think Saudi choosing to be in pot 1 hurt them more than it should. I'd honestly just select my group. Like which matches are actually winnable for them in group C? Only India and they're in good form atm.

Yeah, I'm glad we aren't in group A. It would have been a repeat of the disastrous Doha campaign where we only got 1 win (against Qatar).

Brownlee's status is also still up in the air. We have a stubborn coach who doesn't want to include more players. It's gonna be hell of a ride in the lead up to the tournament.

Pray we don't see any more injuries.

Were playing same opponents so 9 days prep is justifiable lol.. the core are non pba players they can stary preparing of their insurances allow. Would be i teresting team.would play without kai and JB. Carl tamyo showing flashes all throughout his intl career..is now the time to him to level up?

B1 matic japan if we place second its them.and if we placed 3rd even if we win the play in we play australia in qf.. the reward is winning the group..

Or Japan will tactically lose to Iran to avoid Australia until finals? Iran is not easy costumer BTW!!! Japan always have a hard time against size of Iranians... Last 2022, they have NBAer Watanabe, rising star Kawamura, Togashi, etc... lose to Iran in their pool group match... Iran always play better in main proper games than in qualifiers...

we barely missed out on the group C, why China always gets lucky with this robbery smh

Jordan w/ RHJ have high chance beating China.. we all know how impactful RHJ playing for either TNT or Jordan.. I hope TNT allows RHJ to play for Jordan.. I don't want karma strikes back if TNT will not allow RHJ to participate for Jordan.. for sure their followers back there will be mad at us... Japan, Korea and other leagues allowing their players to play for their national team...

I wouldn’t count out India.

They are on good form and can upset the hosts.

India is a weak ass team, no way the will beat any of them in their group... Only Iraq is worse than them... Bahrain is just sucks.. they can easily qualified if they change their naturalized player, Chism can't even run right now and can't score...

They just happy to be there... They have another naturalized player named Kevin Galloway, who is better than Mayfield but I don't know why Iraq didn't field him again? Philippines already familiar with Iraq since we played them 8 years ago in Fiba Asia cup and Jones cup 2017.. they are bunch of floppers and weak ass mentality..

Nope, if they didn't put themselves in POT A, it will be the same scenario.. they are in POT 3 and they don't have luxury to choose an opponent.. they can beat India anyway.. who knows... We are also in same situation in Fiba world cup as host before.. right? We have a chance to beat Angola but we didn't... I'm sure they will prepare for months for this event.. as host, they will give their followers back home a better performance than last 2022 edition...

Qatar is not good as other forumers hyping here.. yes, they have 2 imports playing but they are just like Guam.. They hyping Qatar but Guam is also same as Qatar.. they have two world level imports (Earnest Ross playing as an import in Japan while Jonathan Galloway playing as an import in Macedonian league) in their line up, they have former finals MVP in NBL in Tai Wesley, Another guy who also plays in Japan in Takumi Simon and very known by Filipinos in Jericho Cruz... I want to see Guam playing against West teams.. I think they have a shot upsetting Iran and favorites beating Syria.... Qatar's only chance is to beat Korea, if the latter will not parade a naturalized player, but still a hard task...

Jordan w/ RHJ can beat China.. I don't know if there is rumors TNT management will not allow RHJ to play for Jordan but I hope TNT allows RHJ to participate.. with him, I think they can beat China.. he's a rare of a player that can impacts the team more with his presence only.. because if in case Gilas will be on 3rd place in group D.. beating China (as 2nd place in group C) have a high chance than Jordan with RHJ.. RHJ already knows CTC system and that's a bad sign already.. and he knows how to break that CTC 's triangle system since he played against Ginebra so many times here... Meanwhile China already have phobia playing Gilas.. we have psychological advantage against them..

This is my take on Qatar:
I believe that at this point Qatar isn't in the same level as Australia, New Zealand, China, Lebanon, Jordan, Korea (if it plays full force) & perhaps even the much improved Chinese Taipei. But definitely Qatar has improved significantly by having 2 imports on its side - guard Mike Lewis & big man Tyler Harris. Malaking bagay sa Qatar having those 2 American players in their roster.

If I'm coach Tim Cone, I would rather face teams like Iraq, Syria, Guam or Saudi Arabia than face Qatar.

Sorry to disagree with U on this bro but between Jordan & China, I would prefer to play Jordan in a knockout match. I just feel that a well prepared China team will be very very dangerous. And I bet China is going to prepare very well for this tournament. I expect China to train for at least 6 weeks for this tournament with a good No. of tuneup games - things that our Gilas team can only wish for.

I just feel that Jordan's shallow bench is going to hurt them in a tournament format where each team gets to play 6 to 7 games. I feel China has a deeper lineup than Jordan although China's starting 5 isn't as solid as Jordan.

Sadly, the significant edge that most of these teams will enjoy over Gilas is the lengthy preparation time that these teams will have.

I expect that teams like China, Lebanon, Japan, Jordan, Korea, Taiwan, Iran, Qatar will have 4 to 6 weeks of solid training prior to the tournament plus a good number of tuneup games.

Maybe Australia & New Zealand would prepare less as these 2 teams have the tendency of not really taking this tournament seriously. Maybe these 2 teams will prepare for only 2 to 3 weeks. Well I just hope New Zealand prepares for only 2 weeks so as Gilas will have a better chance against NZ.
