FIBA-Asia Cup 2025 Saudi Arabia

If the news reports that the SBP confirmed that he received findings on random tests, it may as well be a FIBA sanctioned event which can only be the previous Asia Cup Qualifying windows.

Assuming Brownlee does get suspended, this is where we find out if Cone sticks to his word and Kouame is the next man up or he is just as full of BS as the SMC people running the show. At least for the FIBA Asia Cup in August, I do see a lineup of Kouame, JMF, Edu, Tamayo, Dwight, Scottie, Newsome, Oftana, KQ, Amos, Malonzo, and Perez... with Japeth as a reserve. Still a decent team, but only a semi finalist at best. Realistically out by the quarters without both Kai's defense and Brownlee's ability to do those scoring spurts out of nowhere.

I'm already writing the tournament off. We ain't winning shit without Brownlee or Kai.

If Cone and Chua weren't truly full of shit, the logical move would be to call Jordan Clarkson. Or is there also no time to incorporate him in Cone's fucking system?

Honestly, I'm disappointed and even more so that folks at r/PBA are still defending Cone's decisions.

Even here..

JC is out of the season due to injury, i think he'll go under the knife. not sure if he'll recover in time, but it will be better for all if he rest it off till neext NBA season. which means, no JC for Gilas as well.

Plantar Fasciitis isn’t that severe. Needs only 6-12 weeks recovery after treatment. He has time to recover in time.

This Gilas thing for them is becoming more as a publicity tour for SMC/Ginebra teams,if Long Hairs thinks that after becoming the GM of GIlas will get him more likes,he's greatly mistaken,he should be called out for a bad management decisions. This is really a bad combo for GIlas the 'most stubborn coach" and the most "hated anal loving too old to have Long Hair manager".

Not just SMC teams but the PBA as a whole. The entire shitstorm since Tab’s removal was all because the PBA folks were disgruntled over losing talent to foreign leagues and proving their style of play is still effective. There’s a reason this Gilas iteration got approval from all major figureheads like Panlilio, Vargas, and Chua.

The aforementioned trio all have a history of enmity towards Baldwin, which is why we can’t even have Coach Nenad or Dickel. This is all because of the PBA and BCAP’s misplaced pride. I won’t be surprised at all if we end up failing to qualify for the 2027 WC.

I won’t even be surprised if Chualay has included an unwritten prerogative to the current Gilas squad that players willing to play in the PBA should get more playing time. That would honestly explain the underutilization of Tamayo and KQ in the last window.

Idiocy at its finest.

The holy trinity of PHL basketball stupidity: Chua, Panlilio, and Vargas.

special mention: Marcial

Luckily dwight is good looking and probably MVP’s favorite and Kai and Edu ate generational talents or else they’ll ride the bench like Tamayo, Kquiam and Amos

Nangangamoy na si Amos will end up in GSM or SMC.

He’s like a younger and better version of Rosario.

I won’t be surprised if they revise the rule on naturalized Filipinos and Ange goes to GSM. He is the perfect replacement for Japeth.

I totally agree on all degree about Ron Harper Jr.'s inclusion for the coming event.

as a possible replacement for JB for that naturalization spot."if worse comes to worst".

as much as we want RHJ occupied that local status instead but rules is rules.

we could probably tap him all the way to next year's Asian Games alongside JB, JC and AK34

the good thing about Ron Jr.'s inclusion is that it is also his mom and dad's dream that they

could see their boy(s) plays for Gilas one of these days.

who knows if the stars aligns to us we could see the Harper boys plays alongside JJ on the next batch after LA2028

Benny Boatwright somehow tainted Tim's contingency plans, what I want for the MVP bloc in SBP is to try to work on the eligibilities of our fil foreign players. Its really not feasible to spend a million in asia cup heck even in asian games just to not include him in the long term plans...

2 step back ward 5 steps forward... i see a rerun of 2022 asia cup but now we should send a more complete team. (Meaning we will have real bigs and not forcing kevin quiambao to play big).

Gilas program is now a victim of the early success that stems from asiad gold, not having just moral victories against top 15 national teams, even defeating them at their home soil. Its bad that the growth pains are coming in the middle of the process. But not to rely on Brownlee is the next step for the team.

Is he really that good? Sorry I don't know about him.. If he's good and a projected NBA draftee, I don't think he will give a damn time to play for Gilas since he will focus himself entering NBA... And who knows, if his career in the NBA will pan out, team USA will likely tap him in the future.. who want to say no representing team USA?

You must be referring to the younger Harper Dylan, he's No.2 in the NBA mock draft and played for the U18 USA team. Ron Harper Jr. is a fringe NBA player playing mostly in the G League.

There’s a chance he might leave the G-League too.

East Asian leagues are a likelihood. PBA? No, please.

I suggest to follow our youth more so that you're up to date to up and coming prospects..

Why not? He can't be classified as Asian import in any Asian leagues anyway.. good for PBA to have him...

All Pot 1 teams are beatable except Australia.

NZ will be a tough nut to crack but it's doable with proper coaching.

I'm just glad we avoid China, Iran, and Lebanon in the group stages. We just need to avoid Australia.

I don't like our current form but semis should be doable.

If only we'll have at least 3 weeks of full time training prior to the tournament & we'll have a Justin Brownlee in tow, I won't be so worried.

Don't think FIBA Asia is ready to group Australia with Philippines yet lol, pretty sure the bad blood will always be there after that 2018 brawl
