Well, Ngombo may count as naturalized, since he is registered by a Congolese Club Team with the birthdate of 1984. Therefore, he might be counted as naturalized...just guessing.

Ndour and Ndiaye were previously called up for preliminary rosters of Senegal, but never played in any FIBA-sanctioned games. El Hadary was born in Egypt.

Well i think Iran,China and S.Korea are in 1 category for the gold. It can go either way.

And about Arsalan Kazemi,he's a good player but his young and raw,so you never know how he'll perform in this age. We shouldn't expect that much from him as he is still inexperienced in the international level.

he's young, but it's clear that he's TALENTED.

you might be right friend!

U might be right! & I hope so! Qatar has already done a lot of cheating 4 d last 10 years or so, enlisting non-Qatari citizens on its Nat'l. team. Obcourse those non-qatari citizens had been a big help 4 Qatar's rise as 1 of powerhouses in asian basketball.

I think in d current line-up of Qatar, perhaps only 2 or 3 players are legitimate Qatari citizens, or maybe not even 1 is a legitimate qatari citizen.

I just hope & pray Chaunsey Leslie is not in d line up 4 Wuhan. the Qataris had already done more than enough cheating in d past asian tournaments. They have done a mockery out of basketball in asia.

I think most of U here in this thread will agree w/ me.

True that Kazemi is the best prospect over the continent with a big margin
and no young player gets even close to him
. But all i'm saying is that he is still young and inexperienced. For young lads everything might happen during a tournament. So we shouldn't be shocked or disappointed if we see ups and downs in his performances in the Asian Championship.

As Samad was saying a few days ago, the team can't count on Arsalan to be a savior. He's a player like others are. Hoping he will shine day after day.

who told you that ?
did you hear about Ahmad Ibrahim ?

I know him better than most his countrymen as he is a close friend to Arsalan Kazemi and i'm in contact with Arsalan and know his thoughts.
No one has told me this,it's just obvious if you see the young prospects games. Ahmad Ibrahim is a great player for his caliber,a skillful shooter, but still has a long road ahead of him to be an outstanding prospect. Playing with Rice will surely improve his game. For now Arsalan is amazingly better than any other prospect and no one comes close to him. I would put Guo Ailun as the next player after Kazemi right now.

Arsalan is better than Ahmad now, no doubt abt that.. age and competition difference!
But what i like is that you guys judge like you are GOD and u know everything lol
And are you kidding abt Guo Ailun? this guy is very overrated and he's not anywhere close to Ahmad or Arsalan!

He was better than him in the same age too.

I never said i'm a god of basketball,i'm just emphasizing my opinions. You can walk by them if you don't mind reading them. I have my share of basketball knowledge.

About Guo Ailun he is surely being exaggerated on by some over here, but give him credit for posting the most PPG in the 2010 FIBA Under-17 World Championship with 22.4 and landing China to seventh place,he also played some good minutes with the Senior team in WC 2010. Also Arsalan has shown himself with a remarkable performance at the age of 20 in the basketball WC last year in turkey with Iran's Senior team.

The last international tournament i remember from Ahmad Ibrahim was last years tragic performance(team performance) in the U18 Asian championship. So he has yet to show himself though i know he has a great potential.

If Guo Ailun is indeed the correct age like posted then yes it might be possible but you can never know the true correct ages of the Chinese players due to the unfortunate cheating that takes place in China regarding the date of birth of their players ;)

Yes indeed ,agreed.

The age problem is always there in chinese basketball. Never been faded away!

just remember even a world class player like Kobe or Lebron can't hold a team on his back all the time.
Basketball is a team game. Individuals achieve things playing for the team.

If a star player doesn't have support role players around him it's unlikely that the team will win.

Tracy McGrady used to score over 35 pts average with The Magics but most of the time Orlando ended up with a L.

That's exactly what i mean here. Some guys are making the pressure increase on a player that is only 18 yo. They expect him to carry his senior national team in such age. With this kind of expectations put aside improving, the player will get mentally broken i guess.

Same going with Arsalan. He is still young and we shouldn't expect him to do something extraordinary. Our key players are Haddadi,Samad,Afagh and Kamrani. Arsalan is a great inclusion in the roster but he's still not the GUY on the team. He will learn game after game.

well,i havent watched all arsalan's games with rice, but i did watch him with the NT in Iran, and i did watch many tapes of him training with brahim.
and from where i stand, to be honest i must say that arsalan is more explosive under the basket, whereas brahim is a much better shooter and a better dribbler, and i might even add better defender, just that on Kazemi has a huge edge on the rebounding end, i've seen brahim taking his shots off the drible but never seen kazemi doing that (again in what i've seen of both),both are fast but cant judge who's faster:p
overall both are great high caliber players but i'll have to wait for this year to see brahim's performance with rice to judge wether or not he's really an overall better than Kazemi though the former has some huge shoes to fill.

I respect your opinion, never did otherwise, however the way you judge is not logical. Again, what sort of measurement you used to determine whether Arsalan was better at Ahmad's age? Actually Ahmad's at the age of 16 topscored the Asian U18 back to 2008 with 35ppg, and if it wasn't for the biggest scandal ever vs Kazakhstan and the horrible officiating, we could have made it all the way to the World Championship alongside you guys.
I dont want to go into details of how big the difference was and still is btw the way the Iranian youths prepare and the one of Lebanon, huge difference, and that for sure is our problem not yours.

Guo is a great player, but first i dont think his age is correct, no info just guessing. And second, i dont think he's enough skillful to be compared to Ahmad or Arsalan.

Just to let you know, Ahmad joined the team directly in Yemen, did not have a single practice with the team who was in mood that Ahmad is not coming, and surprisingly Ahmad arrived. Again, this is not your problem, its ours, but the situations that Ahmad has been put in is really different than Arsalan. And im sure if Ahmad was given the right chance, he will shine exactly like Arsalan bcz both are from the same quality.

Both MUSA boys are not in the roster. What happened?

I was impressed when I saw Arsalan Kazemi's game with Rice University. The dude is long, athletic, and he plays with a lot of energy. Iran is so lucky to have two of the best small forwards in Asia in Kazemi and Bahrami.

I don't know much about Asian prospects, but I have seen Kazemi play several times and he's a legit NBA prospect. He's projected as a mid second round draft pick right now and could go higher with another solid season at Rice.

I was impressed with his rebounding ability and athleticism. He more than held his own against some good NBA players. He's the best prospect to come out of Asia in the last few years.
