Eurovision 2010

A' level of what? GCE? IGCSE? ICE? A/AS?

If she has then I am an English literature professor at Amherst College.

Also, one "gets" his A' level even with a D-. But this one was below O' level D-

Therefore she should stick to Gytaz' advice next time.

Man, you must have a bad day. Only negative stuff coming from you.
You don't get A-level in Germany with D-. I have heard her speaking English before. Last but not least, stick with your negative attitude but leave other people out.

the favourite won, which is a dissapointment when it comes to a much needed eurovision voting drama.

at least the melon err.. apricot lady didn't win.

You should make clear that she got an A' level in German, her native language. Makes everything more clear.

In any case I apologise for misunderstanding you.

Nah, she got her A-level. She finished high school. Not A-level in English or grade A. She just finished school :) High school and Eurovision. What a week. Not the best singer and not the best song imho but she was good and when Germany gets some many points in Europe, something must have been done right in the preparation. Normally, not even Austria and Switzerland give (man) points to Germany. Apart from points from Turkey, everything else is usually a huge surprise.

isn't it called an Abitur?Didn't know germans had a levels as well?

never mind..not that we should care or ever going to hear from her ever again.:p

To be noted, this "Satellite" is a song that openly promotes behavior that leads to women wearing burqas.:p
"You sometimes make me sad and blue
Wouldn’t have it any other way"

From that viewpoint, it seems that the MELLON Lady (nice one, FedFan) should have won!

@StraightForward: I'm not sure they ripped off Emiliana Torrini. And if they did, they did a lousy job, because that "Jungle Drum" is a really good song, while this is just some sweet, catchy nonsense.

Sure, if you can call fake cute. Her whole dance, attitude, accent and general behaviour screamed "fake" from a mile's distance.

To give you an example, she's the kinda girl who pretends being a virgin but you know she'd give it to anyone.

yes. every other eurovision contestant is so authentic...

i lived to see germany winning the eurovision. The competition of allied forces (balcans, soviet bloc etc), and yet a country with no friends whatsoever won it. never thought it would happen. yeay!

i so thought of jungle drum when the song started. yes there are some definite similarities there...

The only ones I really liked (and I watched the finals direct on Eurovision.tv internet channel) were in my order of preference:
1.Belgium (Tom Dice / Me and My Guitar) (finished 6th)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcwr9s1Wce4
2.France (Jessy Matador / Allez Ola Olé) (finished 12th)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IX2pxtkhx-M
3.Turkey (maNga / We Could Be The same) (finished 2nd)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pdw27j_usP0
4.Lithuania (InCulto / Eastern European Funk) (didn't even qualify for the finals)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkxiRkcn_-8
5.Ireland (Niamh Kavanagh / It's For You) (finished 23rd)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OH5XorOdx0w

I didn't like the other top 5 winners much:
1.Germany's winning song (Lena / Sattelite) is ok but not my fancy
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=esTVVjpTzIY
3.Romanian entry (Paula Seling and Ovi / Playing With Fire) is just terrible
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqDnxKGFK1Q
4.Denmark entry (Chanée and N'evergreen / In a Moment Like This) is ok, but not great, very forgettable
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPzXy-iHVgA
5.Azerbaijan (Safura / Drip Drop) the best I liked of the Top 5 after Belgium, a very very decent song

Right, in German it's Abitur but in English it's A-level(s) :)

I don't even think that she will pursue a singing career. She isn't a professional singer.

I tried listening to it again, and I didn't see the resemblance (except in the idea for the lyrics (I am a women in love...)). But, funny thing, I asked the people around me, and everyone else heard the resemblance.

Actually, the start of "Satellite" only reminded me of the start of
"The Ting Tings - That's Not My Name"

BTW, Lena kind of has an Australian accent when she says "I bought them just the other day"

Angry Video Game Nerd would have said for this eurovision:

"What a shit load of fuck!"

And I would agree...

Finally someone noticed my concern that Eurovision actually do riffing off stuff from other original songs/bands. I thought everyone here is too busy discussing boobs and stage aesthetics
"Jungle drum" obviously gave the idea and they too a lot from it, it's not like you changing few sentences in the book (or changing a style a little bit, but making the same statements) and you call it your own, I still would call it stealing.

Don't worry, it didn't last long:p
Back to boobs & stuff...
