Eurovision 2010

this thread confirms my theory

Europeans can't sing or dance to save their life :p

I have a theory too. That Americans don't even want to try anything not American. They are naturally disposed against any stuff, even to the north of the border (Canada) let alone places like Europe or Asia or Africa. Agreed, Eurovision is not the best place to start, but you may like to dig a little deeper, and you'll find a huge stuff which is superior to anything you have ever heard in your life.

Plus there is this language hurdle that mainstream America doesn't want to overcome. They just refuse to hear anything that is not in English, whereas all the world has to listen to a lot of crap just simply because it is in English and cracked the US charts. This will only change with further immigrant comunities getting stronger and bringing their cultures to the mainstream, like Latin Americans were able to do with anumber of their performers in mainland USA.

It is the same in movies as well. Americans dont want to watch any movie (even if it is a masterpiece) if it is not in English, where the world has to watch all the Holywood crap simply because it is done in Holywood.

My suggestion: make a pact with yourself, for one full month saying, I will with a conscious decision never listen to anything American or will never watch anything American, and just search for non-American stuff to fill in the void. Non-American music, non-American television, non-American news, non-American movies etc... Soon you will find materials that will save your life and make you more diverse and open to world culture. And then you will have a more diverse multilingual repertoire of favorites and yes some American songs and movies too.

This dude is reciting Serbian entries for esc2010, three of them and the first he recites was chosen to represent our country, on maybe the most popular radio show in Belgrade. I'm sorry that 98% of you can't understand this, but it simply showed how moronic it is... I'm sad that I share the same air with a guy called Goran Bregović...

I don't think they r aware that American culture is one of the poor cultures in the world. They can't c way too many things because of the crap that their media is showing to them. But still, there r exceptions, I agree...

I am a musician. I study art. I play few instruments, sing and compose. And I can say that Bregovic is the worst thing that could happen to anybody. All of his "BEST MUSIC" is just a copy/paste from the east and he is very very bad musician himself... I am sad that I call myself musician when he does the same...

Well, I'm not a musician, it's a bummer, 'cause I'm a lazy pig...:D
But, somewhat I'm into our musical scene about ten years now. And I now what's the opinion on him of majority of the music involved people here in Belgrade and wider. Not to talk about my personal opinion... Which is, I don't even wanna say.

Well, thank u, even I think we r doomed this years because of that gay guy that is representing us...

Nothing against Serbians or gays, but that thing sucks :p

Sort of liked Bosnia-Herzegovina & Greece performances, Estonia & Russia were also OK, all other stuff is a pure crap

Cant believe that Russia and Portugal went through with such pale songs. Icelandic volcano lady also a surprise for me.

Balcans had to choose either Albania or Fyrom. This time muslims got the lucky coin.

Sad, that Estonian guy didn't squeeze through. Eurovision is not ready for such experiments yet.

Belarussian singers did not have a clue, what they were singing about, but whatever, their looks overwhelmed the accent.

Belgian version of James Blunt sounded the best in the first semi.

Rather funny that every year performers are trying to copy the last year winner in some way.

Last year winner was Rybak ( ex - USSR roots , living in Norway : it covers both ex-USSR & Nordic voting blocs) and singing in English .

This year freaking 80% are singing in English , even the Germans  and there are also multi-bloc performers , just to name a few: Russian Nalich ( Bosnian roots, covers Balkan & ex-USSR) , Armenian Eva Rivas ( Greek roots, born in USSR , lives in Russia)

:)

Just one more time do we have share this crap with the rest of the Europe and another month or two, and it will be behind us for EVER!!! :D That is worth living for! :D

Another piece of Crap will come along next year, don't you worry about that...
Just look at our "female" winner from Finland:

It comes to mind that whoever chooses our boy-girls & girl-boys, is trying to overcompensate the fact that a gay-pride parade can't be held in Belgrade because of safety issues.

He only wrote the music, MARINA TUCAKOVIĆ wrote the words. And everyone keeps blaming Bregović for them...

Wow, you're really mad...
But, really, who gives a fuck who wrote it. It's crap and he approved it!
BTW, I never said that Bregović wrote the text, it's just that he's a frontman of the parade... (And arranger and composer.)
He was being asked for every fucking thing concerning our ESC entry, so do you think that Marina is to blame or Bregović? Honestly...

U r not really here to defend Bregović, r u? Dude, in about 2 minutes I can give u 600 arguments why is he a piece of shit of a musician. Dude, dude is copy/pasteing every fucking thing from the middle east there is, and then we talk about him being our best composer  Oh, don't let me start on this one. The fact that he agreed to work with Mrs Tucakovic is a story for itself. U could clearly c where his spot is when he is collaborating with "Grand Produkcija"'s number one lyrics writer...

I'm not defending anyone, I just think a two-year-old could write a better text than her. And yes, I'm angry cause there are a lot two-year-olds around who could write lyrics instead of her. Bregović isn't THAT bad and I'm not so sure everyone would talk that much trash about this song if the lyrics were half-decent.

Don't mind me overrecting a bit:) :
You have to understand that if Bregovic is involved, than it can't be decent by definition. Bregovic = quintessential populistic shit. Everything he touches ("musically") turns into shit. He's like the reverse king Midas. No one can help that. If you mix decent stuff and Bregovic, it's like multiplying decency with zero (you only get zero, no decency). If a decent person was to make an "musical" arrangement with Bregovic, that person would probably stop being decent after that (guilty by association)...

The girl from Azerbaijan...I'll be damned :eek::eek:

Edit: she is 17...I'll be fucked
Edit2:she is playing the saxophone...I'll be uhhh forget it.

Well, fuck it, all the songs that I liked didn't make to the final. Gonna root for Germany now, 'cause the girl is just so damn cute.
