and somehow, we got the new "ESC friendly country" in Georgia face
again politics?

Can't understand this one too. Well, we gave them 12 points last year, maybe they were just returning the favour, but we gave them 10 this year too. I can't understand why this happens, but hey, it's good to have a new ally. :)

edit: well, in the finals we only gave them 5, which was somewhat avarage. I doubt they are going to give us lots of points next year...

well, it's not a contest of pop song either, coz none of those singers will ever make it to the global stage with what they performed.. why? because they suck. and Westerners will not win not due to the voting flaws, but only because they always manage to send the most ridiculous camp sh*t they can find (like Spain did). and there's no wonder - no respectable performer wants to go (unless his/her respectability is the thing of the past and the desperation creeps in..).
on the other hand, everyone's got the right to judge things and I'm sure there are lots of people who are more quallified to judge Eurovision material than all of its fans put together. btw, I didn't notice anyone calling it boring (unless Test did it - he's blocked ;)). It's as boring as Jackass or some retarded reality show about five teenagers. it's just cheap, low quality, no added value entertainment, simple as that, imho.

I guess you know how popular Dima Bilan is in Russia and several surrounding countries. He isn't that desperate to participate in bad contests but this contest has a billion-like audience and brings in lots of money for the winner due to increased popularity and thus higher rates for tourneys and performances. You can bet that Bilan's price has risen now and he will get dozens of additional and better paid performances in the next year. Plus, his song came to life with Timbaland's participation, so Bilan is trying to get a cut in worldwide entertainment market.
The added value is simply each participant, since he is representing a certain country. In any event with your country being involved you are automatically "in" and are living the moment with your representatives on stage. It brings popularity, prestige, more focus in the spotlight.

However, it was supposed not to become a contest of pop songs but here we are now. Still, there is a difference between pop and hard rock.

Hungary 10 points. They probably just liked the ice skater like goga said

No mate :). Hungarians gave 10 points because of Edvin Marton the Hungarian violinist, who is very popular in the classical world. :) and he's violin worth more than some people get in their lives :D.

A Stradivari for 2.5 mio euros...
Edvin Marton got Russia the Hungarian votes, while Plyushchenko (ice skater) has his own fans everywhere.
