European Competitions 2023/24 - Signings & Rumours

Papapetrou and Sloukas are supposed to be the co captains of Panathinaikos.
It is one thing to sign Sloukas and make him captain and a completely different (imo) thing for dpg to want to keep Agravanis (who finally left the team) and also want to have Larentzakis to our team. Does he feel intrigued to sign Olympiakos players who had/have been constantly expressing their emotions against Panathinaikos?

Greek basketball is in absolute shambles. As long as the cap on foreign players exist, any greek player that can hold his own on an EL level should interest both teams.

Justin Bean to Alba. Seems to be a good shooter but in my view questionable, whether he is physical enough for the Euroleague. Another rumor is Nate Reuvers.

toko ain't coming to zvezda, so only is left that pao get deal about him with virtus.

It`s not about money.

His government advised him to avoid Serbia because of political reasons.

Anyway, I will not cry for him. :)

Isn't Larentzakis big PAO fan? :p

just like i said, pao offered a hefty amount of buyout for dorsey but fener refused. fener wont let any player go to pao as long as player is not free agent.

DPG said that we tried to buy out a bunch of players this summer but for different reasons it didn't work out. He named Dorsey, Vesely, Hezonja, Tavares.

ive read that pao offered $2m buyout to barca for vesely and barca refused. why would they accept? after mirotic is gone, with willy, he is no 2 big guy over there. same goes for tavares. currently he is the best real madrid player. idk about hezonja though. for fener, now i guess everybody knows the reason.

I'm not saying they should but at the very minimum this shows that Pao is at least honest in trying to attract top talent this year. The market is super dry so trying to buy out some contracts would make sense.

Nebo in :) :) :) thats maccabi
now, for a perfect american dunker duo, waiting for Martin in
impressive incompetence, by fans first.

every team in the league wants to sign best/better players and there is no shame in that but you need to be realistic.

Martin was released.

Hapoel Tel Aviv and H. Jerusalem have new rich owners. Maccabi will risk a lot even in the domestic competitions.

I was joking I didn't mean to seem annoyed or anything. I hope that at some point in the future there will be some form of financial equality in the Euroleague but until then...

The thing about private owners though is that's it's their choice to lose money. I think that for the most part basketball in Europe is not a profitable business. So why would the Serbian state choose to invest like that when it gets nothing in return? The production of good Serbian players hasn't been halted as far as I know, so what do they have to earn?

I have a Serb friend and we discussed this. The current government is subsidising both RS and Partizan so I can get the respective fans votes to win the next election. The country gets nothing and citizens are taxed so both teams can be competitive in the EL.

Tanoulis who Oly signed from Promitheas is a PAO fan.

Oof, can you imagine being an underperforming player in an arena full of people that know that your salary could have been used to build a school? :p

There are also betting sponsors.

Did anyone comment on Dunston signing for Virtus?
It was known that Virtus had to reduce their wage bill to comply with Euroleague rules, but given the savings already made it appears that they are now going beyond that.

Is it true that Hapoel Tel Aviv tried to sign Lundberg?

Also, Cory Higgins linked with Zvezda...
