WTF is going on with Itoudis??? Who needs 33y old Sloukas, better keep Calathes as backup and bring Pangos considering there is rumor he will leave Milan

We did nothing until now, while Efes brought the best option to replace Micic

I would take Sloukas over Calathes any time.

J.Grant to Panathinaikos and Mitoglou. I like Dinos but obviously he missed so much time. If he plays like in the last season with PAO then he will be nice backup. I don't know what to say about Grant...he was trash in Armani, but great in Turk Telekom. Ehm, I would rather have him as a backup point guard than Calathes so it is what it is ;)

I though I was the only wondering whether Mitoglou will be in good shape to play. However, if we don't have to pay much for him, it's a risk worth taking.

I feel like PAO is not strong enough to convince big players. I havent seen a single convincing and I mean really convincing signing. Sure Grant and Mitoglu are fine pieces but there is no carrier in this team so far and everyone is active even Olympiacos reacted to the loss of Vezenkov appropriately

I agree and we've talked about it here. Pao is the second from last team in the EL and a tumultuous organization. Hiring a good coach and increasing the budget is a good start towards the right direction. Things will not change overnight. I've been repeating this many many times. We need to pay extra to attract talent from other teams.

Having said that, it's not like the market is incredibly rich this year. There are very very few players that are considered "must haves" and even that's debatable depending on the money they ask. For example paying 2.5 mil for Punter or Thompson or Mirotic might not be a good idea. I'm not saying it isn't. I'm saying that maybe with this amount of money a team can be built a bit more balanced. Maybe it's worth it to get an NBA cut SG for 1-1.5 mil instead of giving almost double to one of the aforementioned players. Also, just because we increased the budget, it doesn't mean it's unlimited. Like we can't just go asking to get Punter, Mirotic, Tavares as if we're Scrooge McDuck swimming in our gold coins.

One more thing (which again I've said 100 times by now). The team is making steps in the right direction. If we put up a decent fight in the playoffs, I'll be happy. Reaching the F4 would be a miracle. Next summer we can see what was wrong and make a few adjustments and have a good shot for contention. Team chemistry is one of the biggest factors of success.

Panathinaikos has made the most signings so far. Vildoza, lessort, antetokunbo and moraitis. And mitoglou + papapetrou are also done. Grant is not done. But even if it is, there are 3 more spots in the backcourt ( 2 sg and 1 g/f), another sf/pf (probably hezonja) and remains to be seen whats gonna happen with papagiannis. If he leaves we will get another center. So roster is not even halfmade so far and with the lack of decent players (2,5 for an overrated player like thompson who hasnt done anything in his career being 28 yo is ridiculous) the team will most probably get all those from the nba. Free agency has just began there. I believe one of those gurads we will try to sign will be korkmaz

As backup pg? He intends to leave Oly just because not starting games(while playing 30+ minutes) and you expect from him to accept backup role in Fener?

In that case I would take him over Calathes too

I agree with all your points but you need to send a statement too with a big signing. Also to give the team the goal you are chasing. Just to try building a team with chemistry wont be enough I suppose. You need an engine that can energize the whole team. Maybe such a signing will come in the next days or weeks Idk.

Sadly, as a fan, I do agree with you. But what can you offer more the the players? Money is not the problem, you have a coach who was 3 years in a row in the EL finals, won twice, fans are great, Athens great city to live... but honestly, I am actually satsified that we didn't sign Punter and especially Thompson for that money. They are both not worth it. Sg and pf will be very likely big names with the money saved on some other positions.

Korkmaz indeed would be such a statement signing, even though he hasnt shown much so far.

I'm sorry I don't follow how Fener has structured their roster this year. I was just mentioning that imo Sloukas is a better/more useful player than Calathes. Unless you have 4 players that can shoot 35%+ from 3 at any given time :p

Half of the market earns more money than it deserves. To be picky at the moment is very dangerous because you can stay empty handed eventually and have nothing to work with.

It would be great if we signed Hernagomez or Tavares or whatever. But if we can't find something that is worth the move, I prefer to build patiently rather than spending money just for flashiness. As Edgar said, I believe that Ataman knows what's up. If he doesn't think that 2+ mil for Thompson/Punter are worth it then I believe him. I will be able to talk about his choices in a couple of years. Not now. We need to be patient. You don't learn a new skill in a week, you don't lose fat in a week, you don't build relationships in a week, you don't build an EL in one summer. We need patience.

Ataman likes great scorers, I'm curious about the guards we are going to sign (I somehow believe that he may keep Grigonis thanks to his efficiency in scoring)
