European Competitions 2023/24 - Signings & Rumours

Obradovic used to be the best coach in Europe. Now there are many better than him,one of whom is ataman. Basketball is evolving, obradovic started to adapt to 2023 basketball this season a bit.

However he still remains the most successful coach, which has nothing to do with being good right now. He is good, but he is not the best anymore. Obradovic left cause of the decreased budget. Comments about leaving due to DPG are funny, cause he left from a team with a crazy owner and went to another team (fener) with a lunatic president who was fighting with opponent's team president ona woman's game and was even sentenced and served time in prison. But obradovic had no problem with cause he had unlimited budget, while PANATHINAIKOS was playing with diamantidis at his last days and some cheap (ukic was the highest paid after diamantidis on something like 700K/year contract)

same as he was leave fener, when they was reduced budget from 31m to 19m...

Sloukas met with Oly's owners today and after 4(!) hours of talking they didn't reach to an agreement. I don't know if this means something in particular, just putting it out there.

As rumoured Fener's offer was around 1.2-1.3 millions for each year, 2+1 contract.

Olympiakos' financial offer is not supposed to be the issue. The disagreement is about his role and his playing time.

I see.
But still no money no honey :)
600.000 Oly and 1.2 Fener...
Great difference.
Offer me double salary and see what happens :)

Sanli's potential move to Fener will send shockwaves around European basketball. Not only would they be removing him from the clutches of Barca, who he was locked in intense renewal negotiations with, but it would also be sending a major message to Efes.

Ercan Osmani >= Sertac Sanli

During the season, Sloukas had made public his complaints about his participation time and the coach's plan in general. Ofcourse, there is a difference between the 2 financial offers. As it seems, he is trying to find a way to stay in Greece, otherwise he should have already declined Olympiakos' offer.

What is happening with the Efes? Are they reducing budget? Derek Willis is maybe not even for the EC player. I remember him in the Brindisi, he was nice in the run & gun basketball back then but he was nowhere near EL level at the Venezia. I have no idea why did they sign him. Jones is not ready for EL but I can understand the risk. Tarik Black? Good Lord. Clyburn might leave...so weird decisions.

he is playing for 600k in oly, i dont believe in that..
but that to side, what he actually want? to play 35 minutes per game with 34 years?
if thats the case, he can come to zvezda, and play 35 minutes per game for 800k.. :D

Where a you getting thee numbers from? I think Sloukas made 1.8 mil last season and the new offer is about 1.5 mil (I just found some source in the internet, I’m not 100% certain but the numbers seem kinda ok).

As tonia said, the issue has been that Sloukas doesn’t like playing with the second unit. His role is undeniable (he finishes the games and gets the last shot) but I think he believes he would be better if he played along better players.

He's not playing for 600k, we're talking for Sloukas not for Lountzis... This year he was getting 1800k, the offer for a new contract is supposed to be 2+1 years for 1500k per year. But the problem is not the money, they found common ground on that. He didn't like his role, he wants more playing time and more the ball in his hands to play pick n roll, while bartzokas wants the ball to move around faster

ps i don't understand why it keeps asking me to post a photo in order to reply...

So, both him and Teodosic could retire from Zvezda:p
In my opinion, it would be best for Sloukas to end his career to Olympiakos. Otherwise, he would be a good fit to Fener. Kostas (Antentokoumpo) has already left Fener, they need another greek player ;)
