European Competitions 2023/24 - Signings & Rumours

Charalampopoulos was certainly not trash. He was 16-17 when he was called to play in the EL. The difference between 17 and 19 and 22 are massive in terms of athletic performance. Why didn't he become the player we thought he could be I don't think we'll ever know. He was battling injury very early, maybe he didn't have the mental toughness to overcome adversity, I don't know.
.
I always thought his domination at youth levels was misleading, because of his superior body. He was like a man among kids. I am sure there were other factors, though. Greek prospects usually turned into top level talents before him.

BTW I thought Rovka was also benefiting from his physical strength similarly a bit too much, but he seems to have a better-planned career path: He was playing in the Turkish 2nd league, moved up to the 1st, and now to a great EL team in terms of player development. He could have signed with fancier clubs all along, but apparently he's smarter than that.

PS. I am sure you guys are aware of Ataman's allergy to local players. So it doesn't actually matter who you guys are signing, imho. :)

Mannion who, the father or the son? Unfortunately the father (a great player) is too old whereas I would leave the son where he is now.

Maccabi T.A, Blatt and Costello are considered close to sign.

Remember what you wrote for Mannion, in year or two we will continue.

btw I don't know about his father and grandpa, you know better for sure.

He has never played for a team in the Turkish 2nd league.

What kind of allergy is that??:p
Probably, he got so fed up coaching Turks at the national team, that he didn't want any other for Efes :D

Well he did hand Suacan Piskin his Euroleague debut... :D

Have we discussed Dogus Balbay leaving Efes?

To be honest I don’t think there is a clear talent that I’d be pissed that Ataman didn’t develop. If there was no restriction I bet we would have at most 1-2 Greek players.

His father Pace Mannion was a great SF and (unfortunately lol) I am old enough to remember him.

About Nico Mannion, he is already 22,5 years old and he played 0 seconds in the final series against Armani, moreover his season stats are quite disappointing.

Scariolo doesn't consider him. In order to judge him he has to go elsewhere to play.

the legend... this is so crazy it's comparable to a scenario in which I am fielded for, I don't know, Merkezefendi in the TBL vs Efes.

Have we discussed Dogus Balbay leaving Efes?

We'll remember him as Balbay the bricklayer, and with his FT misses vs the USA, even though he contributed a lot more than most other locals combined, both on and off the floor.

Vildoza official for 3 years at PANATHINAIKOS. so far the 3players we knew that had agreed long ago are all official. I think papapetrou will be ours as well and then we will find out about the rest, mostly the partizan players (we have made official offers for punter, leday, lessort). Idc about leday and lessort but punter is a must and according to almst every media we are the favorites to sign him. Next should be exum, but i think this will drag more time, cause he wants to return to the nba. Leday and lessort i think are good but overrated and we can search the nba as well for even better players (ideally i would love to see theis back in europe and come to us)

while barcelona finally learned which was their black hole, breaking up with saras (that i unfortunatly bet will be a mta coach soon or late), mta added tamir blatt for three years. this is something far from every understandable technical reason. impressive. really impressive

There is a rumor that Jasikevicius is proposed a 3 year contact to be assistant coach of Grizzlies for 6 million dollars.

Blatt will be the replacement of Ziv, nothing more, nothing less. What's your problem about that? Did you remain impressed by Ziv?

Clown is surprised about signing Blatt? LOL. While everyone and his sister in Maccabi would prefer Madar, it is not an option now, if at all. Blatt is only possible option (EL experience and track record, as well as decent shooting and PnR abilities) and he milked it as far as possible, getting high contract for an Israeli player. He also played a lot under Kattash and will not take a long time to get used to him. But Blatt is expected to give more than Ziv, which was, unfortunately, hopeless in EL. Blatt is supposed to give so much needed 10-15 minutes of rest to Lorenzo.
Martin is also rumoured to stay, while Maccabi is still looking for 5 or 4/5 and possibly swingman instead of Hilliard.

Punter signed with Barcelona. Kind of unexpected if you were to believe the media but apparently weren’t offering as much as we were saying? I’m reading 3.6mil for 2 years. That’s not enough for the hottest name in the market.

Anyway, disappointing but not the end of the world. Teams are not built on one player or in one summer.
