European Club Competitions 2024/25 - Signing & Rumors

Why does it seem like Madrid are broke? They're now trying to include Rathan-Mayes in a deal for Maledon. Where did their money go- did it all get spent renewing Hezonja? They must have saved a fortune in salaries from the six players that left during the summer and didn't they get a buyout for Yabusele?

Anyway, who will PAO move for after Lessort's terrible injury?
 
It seems we want to sign gabriel from maccabi. just a better version of antetokunbo, but nothing extraordinary plus he is bad at controlling his fouls. the good thing is that lessort will be back at the final part of the season, so when the title games are gonna be played we will have one good center. until then we hope that yurtseven can give lessort's points in front (if he plays many minutes, its sure that will happen), hoping that he doesnt get so many points back.

for those saying that lessort will be back after 6 months or a year or next season and other silly stuff like that, we have the example of bochoridis on start of 2015 season with the exact same injury, when he came back (and i mean back in playing not training) after 4 months exactly
 
Well, I said immediately that maybe Gabriel will be an option for Pao since Maccabi is done with this season in the EL. I don't like this transfer to be honest but maybe he will be much better. When he came in Maccabi I said in the summer I expect him and Hoard to be maybe one of the best big duos. Hoard plays amazing but Gabriel isn't. Maybe now he will be better with better players but I feel we could find something better.

In NBL you have Cam Oliver, Harrell who is same version as Lessort. In Japan you have Thiemann. In China Damian Jones, Mickey, Marquesse Chriss...in Eurocup Kabengele, Motley, even Odiase would be interesting option....for me all of them are better options and definitely someone would accept buyout for one of these players. But hey, I trust Ataman and maybe Gabriel will playing amazingly.
 
Gabriel until the end of the season and 2 guys renewed. Most probably lessort and juancho. I guess announcements next week at OAKA against virtus (i will be there)
 
This is actually great. This is how you stay at the top - you don't change your core. Juancho deserved new contract at least because of final series against Oly. And this season he plays great. Lessort will probably have NBA out clause but I really doubt he will go in the NBA after this injury with his salary being increased. Only Osman, Yurtseven, Antetokoumpo and Papapetrou don't have contracts until at least 2026. Papapetrou and Antetokoumpo will also probably be extended even though I hope Ataman will keep giving chance to Kalaitzakis before Pap so we will see will Pap be okay with that. Osman and Yurtseven depends on this season. If they keep playing like this they will never return in the NBA.

NBA is not an option for Osman and Yurtseven. It is better for the Turkish basketball if they stay in Europe. Osman is getting better and it will be interesting to watch Yurtsevens performance in his increasing role.
 
I think with the market tight as it is for quality C's, Gabriel was the best option. There was no way Ataman was going to chose an American with zero European experience. Even Gabriel is still learning. Kostakumpo is on the injured list more often than not and we need a rim protector. Yurseven can do the scoring and Gabriel can be the defensive beast. A 5 man presence of Grant, Nunn, PK, Juancho and Gabriel will make it a nightmare for the opposition to score. PK is becoming more and more confident with the ball in his hands. Greeks are notorious late bloomers so I'm expecting him to join this particular club.

With the loss of Lessort, Nunn will take on more offensive responsibilities and become a 25-30 point player. Mitoglou can play 5-10 mins at C if need and Osman can cover 4 easily backing up Juancho.

I mean, if he doesn't make stupid fouls, Yurtseven can score 12-14 point per game easily. But his defense is really bad. We will see. No one would be happier than me if he improves a lot and becomes even better than Lessort. I believe in him and Osman but honestly I think Osman's minutes will just decrease. Kalaitzakis plays more and more, Juancho and Mitoglou play at 4 95% of the time, Papapetrou waits, Grigonis will return one day and Ataman enjoys to play with 3 guards. But if he finds his game he will play...

Yurtsevens Defense was never great but to be honest its also his first serious pro season. He showed partly good defensive games though. Hell probably never be a good defender but he covers a lot space. I mean if he stops making stupid fouls and works on his timing as well as positioning he can be bearable but I am not very happy with him. We will see.

Osmans problem is that he can do nothing really well but he does everything to a certain point and if you cant anything good you are not really reliable. Kalaitzakis is a great defender. Grigonis offers good shooting (better than Osman) and pick and roll action from the forward positions (what offers Osman to a less degree too) but nothing else. I dont think he can compete against Osman. Just when Osman has one of his off days shooting wise then yes. Papapetrou is for me not a EL player. He made some crucial shots last season but it was fluke. If Osman loses minutes to him he should retire.

But I am pretty optimistic about Osman. Not a big fan of him but Ataman always trusted him and I can see that he finds his role more and more. Maybe PAO is not the right place for him.
 
Monaco fired Furkan like I expected , but now it's big danger if he comes to Fener. after all injuries we don't need a new problem.
 
Blatt recently said he is one one of responsible of mta market choices because didnt replace mvp last year players. as usual, as in his perfect tradition, Blatt didnt understand the problem. baldwin and brown season is actually very mediocre. the proboem wasnt to find better players. the problem was the same as ever: mta didnt build a perimetral team full of shooters. we have dramatic 3p stats. attemtps and %. the problem it wasnt to fine better players than baldwin or brown or colson or nebo . the propblem is always the same: mta still play a 70's bball style. thats something blatt and mta scouts would never learn
 
Micic to sign with PANATHINAIKOS when he is freed from his contract in the nba. if not now, then at summer. then the most possible scenario is that lorenzo will leave.
nunn+micic+grant+sloukas, mmmm not good for the opponents. plus rumours about moneke.

Whoever signs Hoard will get one of the best PF in the EL. He is amazing player. Already has been great in Hapoel but how he plays in Maccabi is fantastic. If he has better teammates he would be even better.
 
Nunn changed agent. Hm, it is a little bit worrying move. He will be 30 in the summer. What team can give him role as a backup SG in the NBA? Maybe few of them in the best scenario. Most of those teams are tanking and they want to play young guys. I think he is done with the NBA especially because he can't be not even close efficient scorer in the NBA like he is in the Europe and also his defense for the NBA is horrible but you never know... I hope DPG has a plan. 2.5M per year for Nunn is too little. He loves Greece, enjoys...but you can't pay Sloukas more than Nunn. If Larkin gets 4M in Efes then Nunn deserves 10M. I mean, I hope we will re-sign him much before the end of year on let say 3 years contract with at least 3-3.5M per year.

Someone from the NBA can offer him let say 2 years 12M and after taxes that's something like 2.5M net salary in Greece...and he would be home...we can't risk this at all.

I agree. He is not very versatile in terms of skill set but he is unbelievably efficient.
 
Lessort official reneweal for 3 years without nba out. So he will be here until 2028. Juancho is also close to renew for 2 years. Kalaitzakis had agreed before summer as well for 3 years, so the only ones without contract at the end of the season will be

Nunn signing is the only one which matters and makes big difference. He is underpayed right now, which is good for budget but bad for exposure on market. 4-4.5 milions would be fair imo for value he delivers. I mean he is not just numbers biilder like Mirotic, Vezenkov, James and co, he is proved winner, scorer, leader, team player, character and that's rarity nowadays
 
If Osman delivers, he will stay. If not Neoklis Avdalas could well be brought it to be groomed slowly. Massive potential. Has the fearlessness of a young Serb. Is very aggressive and isnt hesitant to go hard in the paint even against the big men. He also possesses gold fish memory. Won't hesitate to shoot even though he may have 0/5. Very good ball control for someone that is 2.06 and can run the floor with ease. He's similar style to Osman.This is his break out season playing plenty of mins and not just trash time. Still needs to work a lot on his shooting.

The worst thing for his development would probably be playing for PAO in the next season. Very unfortunate development if he grew that much considering that there is no really PG prospect after Calathes and Sloukas. He is more talented than Osman when he was that young. He has a fairly stiff body though.
