it's still early, but the draw took place in Venice...
The event will took place in Nova Gorica, so hopefully I'll be able to attend some games there...

group A:
Serbia
France
Slovenia (of course last years bronze means 3rd quality group  )
Hungary

group B:
Turkey
Russia
Greece
Lithuania

group C:
Spain
Croatia
Israel
FYROMacedonia

group D:
Italy
Latvia
Georgia
Bulgaria

I think Slovenian U20 NT has big chances to take at least the medal. They are playing in Slovenia and the generation of '87 is highly talented. I hope there will be no injuries with our main players (Vidmar, Preldžić, Klobučar, Krušič and others).:)

any information about the roster of the greek team?two players are sigounas and yankovic which are playing in panionios i bet nmy head

Group B should be the toughest. Group C looks tough also. Italy should easily win group D. France should win group A.

Why is groupe C tough? Spains 87-88 generation is not that great and also the from Croatia.

After groupe B the toughest groupe is A with Serbia (Champioan and 87 generation won every tournament from U16 to U20), Slovenia last year 3rd and most of the players are playing again for them like Preldzic and Vidmar. And then there is France which has not a good 87 generation, but a good 88 generation so we will see Batum at this EC.

Serbia is the clear favorite to win the EC again.

We're dealing with kids in exhibiton play. So you'll be seeing a lot of ----. It's kinda of like the BCS only with younger kids, exhibition play and international matches. Again, it's kinda of like the BCS with more -----.

The tournament is taking part from 6. - 15. July (Nova Gorica, Slovenia) and I don't think any national team selection even published their rosters. It's still long time to go.

I think group A has three pretty even teams. Hungary is the outsider, but Slovenia, Serbia and France are probably among candidats for the first five spots overally.

these tournaments are far from exhibitions Calvin.
Eventhough U20 tournament is loosing on attractiveness last few years those kids are still extremely motivated, since this is a great promotion for them. Actually their career noticably depends on their performance at U18 and U20... I don't think anyone considers it solely as an exhibition

I don't like this draw at all... but untill the rosters are formed it's impossible to guess how any country will perform on this tournament.

You really don't have a clue what you are talking about.

Those tournaments U18 and U20 EC and WC are far from being an exhibition tournaments. Players have like few weeks of preparations and friendly games before the tournament. I really don't think the players consider such tournament as an exhibiton one. There are many scouts/journalists/potential employers watching and players give their maximum... and playing for your NT should never be an "exhibition like".

*damn, Matiz, I didn't see you already replied him. :)

That's exactly what an exhibition is a showcase of potential prospects for scouts and teams. I wouldn't put the WC in the same catagory as the U18 or U20 if by WC you mean the fiba championship every four years.

You are American, I wont even bother to explain you. :D

As always Serbia is a very talented, but this time its even more than the last years.
For a change, there no that much ego as usually.A wonderful generation who become one.
Tepic(my favorite),Teodosic,Maras,Dasic,Stefan Markovic.They are all team-oriented players.
Add Mijatovic,Labovic,Dragovic(if he will decide to come from UCLA),Radoljica,Marjanovic.
Wow,what a dream.
Whom should be out of the roster?really difficult decision.

we'll see who'll declare for montenegro first.
I've read Mijatovič or Dašič are claiming they'll play for Montenegro... don't know about Maraš...

markovic might play for australia, wouldn't he? bogut at the time had a similar option with croatia and he choose to play for his home-team from down under. (though it wasn't exactly the same - in the long run he had lower chances, imo, to play for croatia - i don't know how markovic's chances are)

Markovič I think already played for Aussies at U20 world championship, since he is born in 85.
edit: Trif and Manu beat me to it...

Bogut even got a massive offer from Cibona, but later decided he'd stay in Australia...

I think you're talking about Steven Markovic (born 1985), who plays for Crvena Zvezda. The aforementioned Markovic is Stefan Markovic though (born 1988), who already played for Serbia on the youth NT level - a really good talent btw imo. Or did I miss anything here an Stefan Markovic has a connection to Australia as well?

Australia?why should he?
He didn't cross the border of Yoguslavia,i am pretty sure he even don't know the location of Australia.:D
I think you are confused, youre intention probably were for Steven Markovic,Australian guard who is playing for Red Star.
We talked about Stefan Markovic who is playing Hemofarm.
