Well, I have nothing against Teo or Chacho, even Jovic could fit us if not injury prone player. With 30m budget I think we have space to spend 2.5 or 3m on top player. Considering that Lauvergne is payed 1.7m for half season it's more then fair price:D

i have mixed feelings about kostas. i would be ok if he stays with fener but i agree with janketa, we should move kostas to sg and get a wanamaker/higgins/larkin-like player. i also think that such a move like this will help kostas too.

and trendbasket is the real source here. so gz to them!

If you watch Sloukas while shooting you see his bad shooting mechanics. I know he shot almost 50% from the 3 pointer line but he can neither create shots nor is he a good shooter outside the top. He is not a typical scorer. The only thing what makes him special in my eyes is that he can find the open man even if you double him. He can surely take you to a certain point but youll never win a euroleague titel with him as your best or second best player.

I agree.
That's why we should spend in the worst case 3 milions on such player.
Higgins gone, but there are Teo, Chacho and De Colo still on the market...

Very fair comment.

If anything Kostas is a support player. Great to have in your team as 3rd- 4th guard. He's basically an improved version of Nikos Zisis. Good but not great nor a watch winner.

This is quite evident in F4's where the pressure gets to him.

Kostas as a 3rd - 4th guard? Not even CSKA can afford such a luxury.

Btw yes he crumbled in F4; but whole season long, we expected the guy to manage all the offense, play P&R's repeatedly, shoot 50% from perimeter, and also don't get destroyed in defense. Maybe it was a tad too much. Guduric didn't rise to the occasion as much as I'd like, and Bobby is approaching 40. We need 1 more fresh body.

It brings you loads of advantages if you can select your shots and read the lines. Sloukas improvement is unbelievable in that point but like i said great bench pg but as your second best player you will choke somewhere.

Well they had Nando, Chacho and Higgins so they did have that luxury.

PAO once had 3D, Saras, Spanoulis and Drew Nicholas as guards. Hatzivrettas who'd become a role player was 5th. Is Sloukas better than the first 3 I mentioned? I don't think so.
 
You are right but the players you mentioned were sharing the minutes between each other. That way, being 3rd option in 2 positions is not bad, of course if the team has the budget to afford it.

Well, I was exaggerating about CSKA, but even they had to downsize (De Colo, Higgins) because of financial motives even though they were the champions. And that Pao roster was an anomaly in terms of being stacked in backcourt + you can't compare the player base back then to what we have now because of NBA. Quality has dropped.

As I said, Kostas is on top of Europe in some parts of the game and mediocre in others. He had a chance to lead us to a title after 4-5 players were injured, but Micic and Larkin destroyed him. Even then, I'd like Kostas to stay if we can bring another good PG/SG after cutting Ennis and Green, which was the plan before Ennis' freak injury last year.
 
Rick Pitino is not going to continue with Panathinaikos.
