EuroBasket 2022 Power Rankings

It's just people here taking it personally for no reason, my claim that Turkey is somewhere around 10-12th is totally logical. Would like someone to remind me when was the last time Turkey beat a team around their level since I literally can't remember.

I actually give you right. Turkey has been the traditional choker of the last decade. The last Turkish big game win was against Italy in 2015. Right after that, we couldn't win against anyone belongs to Tier-1 and Tier-2. Lost Russia, Latvia, Serbia and Spain in 2017, USA and Czechia in 2019, Greece in 2021 in official tournaments.

I still wouldn't call this team below Top-10. Potentially a very dangerous team in a given day. Also I think, it will be more logical to rank teams after few preparation games. Most of the comments here don't make sense at all for now.

If we move non-Slovenians from your roster you are between 20 and 24 place. You wouldn't see tournaments for years.

In fact moving Doncic to Serbia could be enough, Cancar,Tobey and coach could stay:D

You're right, being born in Slovenia to Slovenian mother and father, who was born in Slovenia too and had Slovenian mother, is not enough to be Slovenian. Maybe Luka is Turk, they were "guests" in this parts 500 hundred years ago?

I don't believe preparation games will show much. Slovenia plays preparation tournament in Turkey, but Luka will join team only then. My guess is that most Nba players will join their teams late, because they have allowance for playing for NT just for limited time.

Not 500 hundred years ago, but for 500 years were 'guests':D

As I know history, in Slovenia never but regarding Luka's roots are from Serbia who knows:D Father is father

Many sultan's mothers were not Turkish origin too.

Agree with all. the biggest choker, the worst shooters, everything I wrote many times. But how you can agree that team with Larkin could be ranked 10-12 place?

We are talking just about power ranking, not final standing. Regarding schedule, it's very possible not even reach QF but that doesn't change ranking based on names and expectations we are puting here.

I know at least 4 guys who are not chokers in this team. Larkin, Cedi, Sanli and Ataman. For the rest of the roster I don't know, except Melih, known (basketball)idiot

Luka's father was born in Slovenia to Slovenian mother. Luka has clearly answered to this Serbian bullshit, who he's.

I don't know which history you know, but Turks were invading our parts for 200 hundred years.

I know official history, don't know about you:confused:

Otoman empire wasn't present in Slovenia ever. Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia ok, but Slovenia hm, When?

Slovenia was not part of Ottoman Empire, but Ottomans were raiding in Slovenia from 1400 to 1680.

I had to beg for a courtside ticket and obtained a one just to watch Doncic closely and you tell me he won't be playing in that game. This must be a joke.

Actually, most of the NBA players are practicing with their teams. We will see them in prep games. Maybe few big guns will join later just like Doncic.

If you can read better, you will see that I already dismissed the claim Turkey should be somewhere between 10th-12th on power ranking standing. Turkey is somewhere between 7-9, but closer to 9th on paper. But, he is right that we couldn't win a single big game in last 7 years, let's say. We generally performed worse than what we were supposed to perform by looking on paper.

We had a really really young team since 2015. For a long while Cedi has been our only threat. We also had horrible coaching. But lack of experience was the main problem. We are still a young team(Melih is oldest at 32 I think) but it is a better Cedi, better Furkan and Larkin leading the young talent.

I know Larkin is a great player but it is also being overrated here. If we were to rank higher because of Larkin then Germany should be higher because of Schroder. Larkin may lead the ball but our difference makers will be Cedi-Alperen

You always repeat it. Osman is not a difference maker and he wont be one. He is the best defender of the team and should fill the stat sheet but he should never lead in scoring because that would mean big trouble.

I'm not 100% sure he won't play. He's not with the team yet. They said that Luka will join NT only before the tournament in Istanbul, because of Nba rules.

NBA players have a limit when it comes to the maximum number of days they can spend with the national team during one summer. Luka has played WC qualification in July, so that's probably problem for him.

He is partialy right(in fact regarding big games at all) but didn't count that Larkin wasn't there in a single game. Nobody can say that the best EL player won't have significant impact on the game(maybe on result too, but that will depend who will be the oponent in top16)

I think you're right and that is the case with Markkanen too. He is not playing in (all) preparation games and won't practice with team until WC qualification window. Or at least that's the official story.

Finland vs. Belgium today and saturday. Finland without at least Markkanen, Madsen and Little. Belgium roster is here; https://www.basket.fi/susijengi/uut...gian-leijonat-kohtaa-susijengin-hakametsassa/

That's true. That was mentioned in Lithuanian media regarding J.Valančiūnas and D.Sabonis. They are already practising individually but apart from the team. They will join the team on the 5th of August. According to the press, there is an agreement between FIBA and NBA that adds a constraint. An NBA player is allowed to take practices with a national team for as long as 28 days. I am not sure if that includes the Eurobasket itself. Probably not.

I guess they are counting "how many days they spent with NT", not "how many days they practice". So probably EB is not counted because 5.8-1.9 is 28 days and Eurobasket itself is 18 days. Markkanen (and probably Luka too) practised 3 days before WC window (I think it's counted for those 28 days). So he has already "spent" 7 days. So I guess players who participated in WCQ are joining their teams next week.

Could be. It is open to interpretations what exactly does that mean. Unless someone has a reference to a doc with a clear explanation. One way or another this is the primary reason that is being mentioned whenever things like these are noted.

It's not how many days they spend with their NT, it's exactly how many days they practice with the team. For example, Jokic has been in a training camp with Serbian NT for a couple of days already, but he was allowed to only work individually without contact with his teammates. You can spend as many days as you like in a training camp as long as you don't practice with the team. Once you begin to practice with entire team, the rule of 28 days begins to count. Competition itself is not included in 28 days. It's exactly today when NBA players can join collective practices with their teams. Not sure how it goes for NBA players who played in those windows.

It's 28 days for the whole summer. Players who played in July have already used some of those days. Cancar, who didn't play in July, will join NT today and Luka next week.

I think that's the case for Giannis too. He didn't play before so he gets to join today.

Btw, are there major examples of NBA assets that were seriously injured during a FIBA game? I can only recall Pau in 2006.
