EuroBasket 2022 Power Rankings

Except Anteokounmpo, Greece has Sloukas, Pappapetrou, Dorsey, Calathes, Papanikolaou and excellent coach. Maybe, they are not first contender, but wouldnt be surprise if they won tournament.

Dorsey card is a bit overlooked. If Sloukas and Dorsey shoots well and Giannis dominates (more or less), that's tough team to stop and they will be good defensive team, or solid at least. I'm not super impressed with Pappa and Papa (and it's not like they are NT overachievers AFAIK), but yeah - Giannis, Sloukas, Dorsey offensive flow is serious, and who knows what Calathes thinking, sometimes sneakily he provides his +10 pts as well.

Nevertheless, to me Slovenia, France, Serbia are top contenders. Period.

Defensively also they could make many problems to any team. They have such mentality, team spirit, strenuousness, struggle, psychologically they are prepared for.

Other then Larkin they are all prone to have bad days (I'd keep Osman out of it since he is always playing his best in national team, but I might be the only Turk thinking that)

No it's two of us:D

I would add Sanli too, which probably makes me the only one in that case:D

Larkin, Cedi, Sanli - the best we have and players that could play in any team in Europe. For others it's big question

Sengun is mistery for me , I can't wait to see if he improved his awful shooting around rim. Have some expectations from Bitim and Hazer too, because they are new guys. From other players I don't expect anything because they didn't improved until now, though they had a milion opportunities.

Turkey would be the underdog against any of France/Slovenia/Germany/Lithuania so I’d put them around 10-12th in the rankings. Basically it’s a roster of a good but not great starting 5 and a bench who struggles against the likes of Belarus and Sweden in the qualifiers. Probably a first round exit.

7th -8th place is realistic

12th place is bullshit and nonsence, you can't put any team with Larkin in charge that low. This is just about logic, doesn't have anything with biased national pride.

They will probably have to beat one of France/Slovenia/Lithuania/Germany to be in top 8. Not impossible but they won't be favourites against anyone. Unfortunately for Turkey, group B is far the best. 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 8th Fiba ranking team in the same group. If you look at latest power rankings, it's 1st, 2nd, 5th and 9th. :D

Its either Germany or Lithuania and against both Turkey will have the upper hand.

Anything can happen in that group, don't forget that group B plays in Germany.

Turkey will have to show something first to be a favourite against historically great team like Lithuania and Germany looks pretty solid team too.

It's true, but it doesn't mean that team with Larkin could be considered as 12th

It's ok to lose game against any team from those( great teams btw) but topic is about power ranking not Group ranking and schedule. I think Turkey with Larkin could beat anyone if something click, or lose easily from any medicre team, so until championship starts I realy don't know.

Larkin never played a single game with Cedi for instance, I don't know which chemistry will be.

But looking just names on the papar 7-8 place is realistic, without Larkin probably much lower.

Yeah I will be there. One possibility of course is that Luka partying too much and plays totally out of shape. In that case changes are possible but taking the best versions of the teams. Germany and Lithuania are below France and Slovenia.

Germany played 2015 in a group of death in Berlin. I was there. I watched all the games in Berlin and I will do it this time too. Germany was fifth and couldnt make it out of the group. You mustnt forget that Berlin is also a Turkish city. Against Germany Turkish fans made raughly 2/3 of the fans. :D

My point was that Germany might make some upsets in home court in group B. ;) Group B is the hardest to predict.

I understand that, but suppose they make upset and finish on the top(I doubt) then Turkey won't face them(again presumption that Turkey will be higher then 4th). So there will be homecourt against any opponent except Germany, that is my point:D

Your primary point was that Turkey will be top 8 team for sure. They might have to beat France/Slovenia to do that. ;)

No man, point is just power ranking before tournament. That's the name of the thread:D

I think no one can predict results in this moment but some power levels we could of course, we have names and some experience. You know I am weak on Larkin and I was always right about him:D

You underestimate Germany. They qualified for Olympics, home court advantage, many Nba players...

No, my hometown is Berlin and I played basketball for a long time here. I know exactly what Germany is capable of and the qualifier in Croatia was a laughingstock. Maybe all four teams of group Canada sure 3 of them would have destroyed every team in Croatia.

Power rankings are strictly about team dynamics and quality in isolation of any other factor, not the tournament draws or possible outcomes...

PS, I would love a first round between TR and SLO.
