Bartzokas is an elite tactician no doubt, but I have to question his strategy of attacking the zone this game. There are a few different ways to go at the 2-3 zone but the most obvious is putting someone like Vezenkov in the middle of the defense to create opportunities. Bartzokas seemed to have only one way of attacking the zone and it cost them big time, especially in the second half.

Sorry for Oly fans, incredibly cheap loss.

Now, I dare some posters to explain me how a 15 men roster didn't mean much for Real after that incident against Partizan. Causeur hasn't played at all this season basically, comes in the final and knocks down 3 threes. Llull takes most important shot and hits it being his only points in the game. Tavares is the only one irreplacable, everyone else they can compensate because their roster is filled with proven players that can step up at any time.

Now, it's for analysis how a team playing 30 minutes zone defense can win a Euroleague title. And how teams weren't able to adjust to that. All Mateo could do is relying that teams will miss wide open shots. But I think the game was decided by Oly's bad defensive rebounding, they allowed many second chance points to Real throughout the game.

Rudy, yes, but Llull and Rodriguez looked half-dead a couple months ago. I guess they were saving it for the crunch time

Right?

It's like they were like "regular season? meh" then suddenly found the fountain of youth when it mattered. Incredible basketball generation.

Never heard an arena so quiet when the trophy was presented since Efes won behind closed doors :D

Causeur is Mr. Final Four, everyone knows it.

Do you know that not a single person, outside me, believed that Real can beat Barca, not in this thread and kot in the game? Wtf?

I agree completely with what you have written.

The main thing needing an explanation is how such a game without Deck, Yabusele and Poirier finished with 37-30 rebounds in favour of Real.

I don't know if you'll believe me but I did believe that Real would win over Barca. My prediction in the prediction game was a mistake. Once the game was over I was excited because I thought I would finally climb one spot and then I saw that I filled it out wrongly. But the truth is that I believed that if Oly managed to contain Tavares and play at their normal standards, they would win easily.

Spain NT won eurobasket 2022 playing very risky zone defence too

I would say Scariola zones a bit more complex, but that doesnt change reality.

Spain basketball playing zone defences in shooting era and still winning everything only spanish basketball experts can explain how and why

That makes sense no? Real fans couldn't be bothered to show up.

To be fair that’s a flaw of the ticket selling system used by EuroLeague. They should wait until the four teams are confirmed before selling the non-host country tickets, that would ensure a more even spread of fans.

What Oly and Bartzokas did is simply amazing. Such a good team with a washed up Sloukas and Vezenkov plus some really Eurocup level player is really good work but it is not enough unfortunately. Musa and Hezonja are utter trash. I can accept it when it comes to Musa but you cant win anything with Hezonja. This guy has simply not BBIQ and skill is average.

Goss is another who shouldnt be playing for Real Madrid even though they survived with him.

Many Oly fans where able to find tickets after the fact. They just don't care that much. They have 100 EL titles :p
