Slacked off a little this quarter, it's really hard to go a full 40 in a game like this, but it's hard to nitpick when you're up 27.

Umm no..we can nitpick a lot. Actually our D is horrible and the holes are being exposed more as this tourny moves along. Again, let's assume our next games involve great outside shooting and larger men in the middle, we are in for a loss. Watching Angolans get second chances is sickening to me. We should be up by 50+ points right now.

He was born in 1978, during the South Africa - Angola war. During the war Angola got lot of help from the Soviet block(mostly Cuban). Maybe he is named after Vladimir Lenin :D

Possibly. Thank you that is nice to know. :)

If they play Colombia he can go up against Stalin Ortiz. Loser goes to Siberia.

USA vs Angola - just as much of a contest than one expected... some bright spells from Angola, USA looking like they are playing a practice match...
Few pics from the first half : USA vs Angola 1st half

Yeah, there are still some concerns with the defense. Far too many open shots and uncontested dribble drives for the Angolans. That sort of stuff has to be cleaned up before we reach the quarterfinals. This game was academic before the lay-up drill got started. Angola's style of play plays into the US's hands, so this match-up is not indicative of what they'll face next round.

Two champions of their continents facing off. US is missing its good players, while Angola has its star Cipriano. However, US has better momentum, as it has won its final game (although against non-qualifier), while Angola has lost to Australia (but resting Cipriano). Angola has much more international experience, while US is young, cocky and doesn't know its opponents. US still has solid streetball talent, however.

you're wrong, it was Brazil who won the last FIBA AMERICAS championship

At least arrogant wasn't used this time. :D

Refs are allowing travelling violations for US players everytime! Showtime for Iguodala after huge travelling

Joaquim Gomes owning Lamar Odom all game long!! This player deserve an opportunity in Europe.

Limited inside game for the US despite squaring off against a much smaller team. How will the US answer the zone defenses of Euro teams?

and the fibatv commentators are criticizing the ref being to soft on fouls..

+1 for gomes as well, i believe he will go to a decent team in europe soon..

If the US continues to shoot from distance like today, I don't think it will be an issue.

Please!! Eric Gordon and Derick Rose are mediocre shooters, they are nailing it because there is no defense from Angola. US won't keep this percentages vs. Euro Teams.

I assume you mean versus quality teams, because there's no guarantee the US will play any more European teams unless they make the final. Still point taken, the game is becoming hard to watch at this point, little more than shooting practice.

Well, lets hope. Because the European teams that have played the USA so far have played dumb (shooting threes all game long in hopes of winning). Brazil is the only team that has played the USA the right way -> slowing the game down and p&r USA to death. Hopefully the remaining teams approach USA the same way because they'll most likely win.

Agreed. The US wasn't shooting like this against Slovenia and Croatia. They are shooting with this percentage because of open looks beyond the arc. If I was coach K, I would've used the last quarter as an inside game practice.

Turkish fans are dissapointing. An empty arena on a USA game. That's a first since they sent college players. Incredible, a metropolis of 15 million inabitants and an empty arena. :(
