Ryukyu 89
Meralco 71

Meralco played without Akil Mitchell due to back injury.. they opted him to rest..

I don't think this is the key game for MERALCO anyway. I think the key game is next week against New Taipei.

If Meralco beat NTK.. them and Macau will both 3-3.. and assuming it will go to quotient.. Meralco have that advantage since we beat Macau at the opener, while NTK and Macau split their H2H matches...

Meralco +12 (beat Macau 97-85)
NTK +7 (split getting w/ Macau, first was Macau win 107-95 then NTK revenge with 114-95)
Macau -19

So that means Macau is already out of contention regarding what happens between Meralco and NTK.. Meralco just need a win, even a 1 pt only to advance to the next round... meralco will have superior quotient over the two... So that means the game between Meralco and NTK will be a do or die game for both teams...

Yeah, they probably talking to another one to make the total number of teams even. Hi-Tech Bangkok and an IBL team should be worthy of consideration.

Of the two, it's IBL will get the invitation due to more established league, good fan base and with Pelita Jaya had good performance last BCL (who almost make it to the semis of BCL and beating Gorgan of Iran and KCC of KBL).. there are already agreements between EASL and IBL representatives.. maybe a little while both will announce it sooner than later...

It's better that EASL and BCL joined together as one, same now going with WASL... Having separate leagues will have hard time for team owners and the mother league to compress the schedule as BCL starting after most of the leagues finished their season...

In few years time eventually the leagues you mentioned will converge and merge into one.

I hope you're right... It doesn't make sense having two different international tournaments with same vision here in the continent... Make it ala Euroleague... With mainstay regular participants such as B league, KBL, PBA, CBA and Lebanese league will have 2 team participants while the rest are 1 each... It will help the development of Asian basketball long term...

OT: The participants of BCL - East Asia qualifiers... Taiwan teams are included.... PBA will have automatically representation in main tournament if PBA decided to join....

SMB has been an eyesore in the EASL right from the get go. Its performance is a shame for Philippine basketball. Nakakahiya!

At least yung Meralco alam mo may determination to win & is really playing for pride, most of its loses were close games. SMB on the other hand, puro talo na nga, most of its loses were tambak.

Did Meralco also lost close to 20 pts. against Ryukyu

Meralco didn't have one of its import in that game. I think it was a 17 pt loss to Ryuku

San Miguel also did not have two imports in their 2 games ago. Also, it was better benching their two first import
Meralco have Kwame and 2 imports yet they can dominate

In 5 games (all losses), SMB lost by an average of 14.4 points. In addition, three of their losses were by double digits. Their closest losses were by 6 points to KT in MOA and by 9 points to Eastern in Hong Kong.

MERALCO lost by an average margin of 8.3 points in their losses. Before the 18-point loss to Ryukyu in ULTRA, MERALCO lost by 3 against Ryukyu in Okinawa and by 4 against KCC in Busan. And they have a chance to qualify for the Final Four if they win in New Taipei on February 12 (apologies for saying that the game will be this week, by the way).

The east qualifiers should have one rep the easl champion since taiwan hk teams are partocopating should get one spot..

EASL and BCL are separate leagues.. and they base thru Fiba rankings... Two Taiwanese teams will be favored but Pelita Jaya will be dark horse since they have very quality imports in Thomas Robinson and KJ McDaniels plus naturalized slot Anthony Beane also most of their line up are part of Indonesian national team... Remember Pelita Jaya beat KCC of KBL and Gorgan of Iran last year...

Four teams from both groups will qualify for the Final Four, and the champion and runner-up teams of BCL Asia East will earn the right to go to #BCLAsia and face 6 other teams: champion teams of the B.League, CBA, KBL, and the PBA, and the #FIBAWASL champion and runner-up!

Hoping this league will stay forever.. we need event like this to fasten the development of Asian basketball... NTK, Taoyun and Pelita Jaya are top teams there since all of them have very good quality imports.. In this event like this, imports are always dominate.. last year Pelita Jaya surprised everyone because of quality imports such as our own Brownlee.. now they have very good quality imports such as KJ McDaniels and Thomas Robinson...

This Meralco - Taipei game is like a remnant of the SGA vs Chinese Taipei finals, import looks like selling the game again. Costly turnovers and defensive collapse on their end many times. Especially Akil, this is not the way he plays at PBA. Only the locals are the ones keeping them alive.
